Taking a page from Alex George,I created a Spotify playlist for DIRTY MINDS.
Think about it--we may not know exactly what love is, but that doesn't stop us from paying homage to including even its zanier characteristics in song lyrics. That includes the craziness we feel when we first fall in love, the satisfaction of good sex, the desire to come together in union and, of course, the heartbreak involved when love ends.
Included in this list are a few of the songs that I give nods to within the pages of DIRTY MINDS--as well as a few that I wore out playing during both my divorce and the writing of this book. Enjoy!
(And hey, if you think I forgot a song, feel free to let me know. I am always considering new additions).

My first blurb!
My first book, Dirty Minds: How Our Brains Influence Love, Sex, and Relationships, will be available on January 3. Most days, it feels like the new year just can't come fast enough. I'm a fairly impatient person by nature so this in-between time between writing and actual publication is making me a bit twitchy.
The weirdest part? Galleys are out. I know that people, and some very important people at that, are reading the book and figuring out whether they like it or not. And I'm so curious to see what they think!
Well, the incomparable Jena Pincott, author of Do Chocolate Lovers Have Sweeter Babies?: The Surprising Science of Pregnancy, was kind enough not to make me wait any longer. She gave me my first blurb:
"With humor and flair, Sukel takes us through the whole human drama -- loving, hating, cheating, losing, orgasming, parenting, punishment, and reward -- and at the end we realize something truly startling: it's all in our minds."
Not too shabby! And it makes me hopeful that if an author as gifted as Jena liked it, other people will, too.
