First of all, thank you so much for letting me visit today, Lori! I appreciate being here to talk about one of my favorite topics: Vampires and why I love them!

It's hard to believe that it's been nearly seven years since the first book in THE CALLING series came out and it's even more exciting that the series will be continuing in 2012 and also be REBORN in 2013 with Entangled Publishing. It's been a blast exploring the lives of so many different vampires over the years and I guess that's one of the reasons why I love vampires so much – the variety that is possible in the story lines due to the past lives of the many immortals in the stories.

You see, I'm a history buff and I get all excited about developing the backstory for the characters and giving them both human and immortal lives in other times. I love digging into history and finding something uA Vampire for Christmasnusual to weave into the histories of my characters so that each has a different flavor. For that reason, my vampires have come from

small Welsh mining towns, suffered during the Spanish Inquisition, served in the Civil War or survived violence in ancient Rome, just to name a few of the histories I've explored.

In my latest vampire release, WHEN HERALD ANGELS SING in the A VAMPIRE FOR CHRISTMAS anthology, I paid homage to my beloved Jersey Shore by setting the story during Prohibition. It was quite an exciting time and I was fascinated to learn about how rum and whiskey were run along the waters of New Jersey before being sold to speakeasies throughout the country. Mix that up with Christmas, one of my favorite holidays, and it made for a very emotional and uplifting story.

I also love playing around with the different kinds of vampires themselves, like mixing in a chupacabra and a Chiang-shi (Chinese vampire) in some of THE CALLING novels. It's fascinating to me that virtually every culture has some kind of vampire-like demon which makes you wonder why that is? Could there truly be some basis to the legends of the undead or is it that no matter the culture, we all have such a fear of death that we create a way for someone to best the Grim Reaper and live forever?

What about vampires that live be stealing something other than blood? In THE LOST I decided to take the vampire concept a step farther by creating a "vampire" that is able to steal life forces from animals, humans and other Hunters,(the race of energy gatherers I created who can steal or give energy).

So now that you know what it is that makes me love vampires, what do you love about them? What would you like to see more of in today's vampire novels?

#SixSunday Okay seven, lines from #vampire romance, Trust Me

His gaze intense, Harry ran his thumb over the line of her lip, then swirled it down over her chin.

A thrill shot through her, burning away any and all doubt. She wanted to stay.

His lips curved into a smile. "I'll get someone to get your bags from your car." The words were no more than a whisper that seemed to blend with the spell weaving around her, but they kept her standing where she was, staring mutely.

Somewhere deep in her brain, a voice protested, telling her this wasn't right. She should object, step back, and show some level of backbone, but her lips wouldn't open, and the words wouldn't come.

Newsletter is coming! With presents.

One of my goals for 2012 is to do a much better job with my newsletter. As part of that goal, I've been reaching out to other authors and getting free books to share with my subscribers. That's right free. And for the most part these aren't win a contest free. They are just plain and simple free for everyone on the list.

The books are all digital downloads through Smashwords. Very simple to get. I will provide a coupon and a link. You simply enter the coupon code and download your free book. The other great thing is that Smashwords provides books in all the major ereader formats, and PDF. So even if you don't own an ereader or want to install one of the free apps for reading these books on your computer, you can still get the free read.

In October I gave away a copy of my first romance Love is All Around. Later this week I'm sending out another newsletter with a coupon for a new sexy contemporary cowboy story and in December a dark paranormal young adult book.

If you haven't joined the newsletter, I hope you will and I hope you enjoy the books!

Paranormal Young Adult Novel Sale! $.99 each

[image error]I know many of you don't have eReaders yet, but seriously with offers like this sale you will quickly make up for the initial expense of buying one. Plus, you may think you love paper–but trust me, an eReader (I like the eInk which has no backlight.) is SO much nicer to read on–especially at night in bed when you are on your side. No having to shift the book light back and forth from one page to the next.

Okay, enough about eReaders. :) How about the sale?

Ten authors, all published by NY and now doing the Indie thing to at least some degree, have  banded together to offer a 10 for $10 sale now through Halloween (2011). The sale is 10 for $10, but you can also just pick and choose which ones at $.99 sound good to you.

Demon High is, of course, on the list.

And so are:  Brightest Kind of Darkness by P.T. Michelle (also known as Patrice Michelle, a fellow Nocturne author),  Immortal Faith by Shelley Adina, Demon Whisperer by Tawny Stokes (also known as Vivi Anna, a fellow Nocturne author), Nine Horoscope in Catusp Stories by Phoebe Matthews, Melody's Follies by Flo Fitzpatrick (a fellow Zebra Debut author), Wraith by Edie Claire, Dark Before Dawn by Stacy Juba, The Deepest Cut by J. A. Templeton and Blood Angel by Kelly McClymer.

If you are a Kindle owner there is a listmania list listing them all. For Barnes and Noble you will have to search, but this link to Demon High will get you started.

In other news, I'm planning another 30 Days of Vampires event. What kind of prizes do you want? I was thinking of offering three choices: 1.) an eReader 2.) $100 worth of print books 3.) $100 worth of Kindle books. (I'm picking Kindle  on the ebooks because the other online retailers don't have an option for me to "gift" books to people.) But I am open to other suggestions.
