SUCKER BOOK TWO: WASTED YEARS

The second 64-page volume of SUCKER is completely finished and ready to go to the printers! SUCKER is a grindhouse vampire romp produced independently of a publisher and creator-owned. We need you to be our publisher and order a copy directly from our Kickstarter page.
SUCKER BOOK TWO picks up where the first left off and goes deeper into our characters and the world of a post vampire war.
“Bruce Jacobs now wields the power of all deceased vampires, and they won't let him forget it. Haunted by their spirits and attempting to satiate an unquenchable thirst, the last vampire has never been more dangerous.
Meanwhile, Clyde Benton continues his hunt for Bruce and learns the shocking reason for his exile. But the discovery will come at a terrible personal price for the vampire hunter. “
This second volume is longer, meaner and stuffed with gorgeous double-page spreads from the veteran team of Talbert, Heebink, Secosh, and Little.

The Cicada Kickstarter from Evoluzione Publishing is offi...
The Cicada Kickstarter from Evoluzione Publishing is officially live!

Every thirteen years, a child killer returns to Braddock, Texas. As the small town prepares itself for a new cycle of terror, teenage prodigy Emma Dale has plans of her own. She’s going to get the hell out of this town, even if it kills her.
The Cicada is a story and concept that I have been trying to get off the ground since 2008. Many thanks to Evoluzione Publishing for publishing the project and hooking me up with the incredibly talented Alberto Massagia and Paul Little!

Ghost Band is an RACC Grant Winner!
My long gestating graphic novel about the creative destruction of San Francisco is finally happening thanks to a grant from the Regional Arts & Culture Council (RACC) . Anke Gladnick and I now have the financial support to complete the first issue ahead of our Kickstarter launch. If you’ve ever participated in a Kickstarter you know that the waiting…is the hardest part. The RACC grant allows us to shrink the fulfilment window, and risk, to our backers and build support for the remaining three issues of the mini series. I’m very grateful to RACC and to Anke for accompanying me on this journey. The best is yet to come!

Jason on the Comic Book YetiPodcast
I had a great time talking with Jimmy over at Comic Book Yeti. We talked about the upcoming PAST TENSE graphic novel, what determines comic book pacing, and the drugs I'd need to properly write the sequel to Halloween 3: Season of the Witch (spoiler alert; it would be all the drugs they ever made). Give it a listen!

The Word Bros host Jason
Kevin and Bob are some of the nicest dudes in comics. They had me on their podcast, the Word Bros and we talked about managing creative relationships, what it's like to be middle-aged men with ponytails, and the upcoming Past Tense graphic novel. Give it a listen!

Adjusting the Values
This was an exercise I recently went through with my students, and I thought it was worth sharing here. Every company in the world has a set of values that they expect their employees to exemplify. When an employee says or does something, usually on social media, that conflicts with the values of their employer they are let go for not upholding the company’s values. But what about for freelancers? You can’t exactly fire yourself (I would if I could). Freelancers hold many roles within the organization that is their career. It’s one thing to uphold your values when you are creating work or collaborating but what about when you are setting up at a convention space, dealing with vendors or looking for parking? Because when you are the company, you have to live your values 24/7. That is why I think it is essential to document your values and post them in your workspace. Here’s my list. Am I missing anything? What are your own values as a creator?
