Romance Writers of America Conference 2015
I'll be attending my second RWA convention this July in New York City. If you'll be at the literary signing on Thursday, July 23 , getting books signed by your favorite romance authors, leave me a message here or on Facebook or twitter. Maybe we can meet up.
This is the one event at the conference that is open to the public. It's free, but you have to buy the books there. You can't bring your own books and ask the author to autograph them. This is a signing for charity and the books are full price.
Last year I waited in line to get Nalini Singh and Kristen Callihan to autograph books for me. I was a total fangeek. People...Nora Roberts is there along with a hundred other famous romance writers. When the link is up for who will be signing, I'll put it up here. If you're in the area, please come. It's for a really good cause.
The literacy signing will be at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in Times Square, NYC on July 23rd from 5:30 - 7:30 pm and is open to the public.

BOOK SEVEN: A big step forward

It's been scary. It's been amazing. It took courage that I wasn't sure I had. And humor. Lots of humor. Sometimes when you dig deep it makes you laugh.
In the midst of this chaos I reconnected on Facebook with a friend from Jr. High School. We got together and were 14 again. Sweet. The one thing I've learned is that change takes time. You can't rush friendships or family relationships. They flow organically, dependent on the energy one expends.
And I have expended plenty of energy. So far I've joined an amazing Zumba class, a more amazing romance writers group, an opera company, (on the tech end), and a church choir, (because I love to sing.) These are all places where new friendships might incubate, then flower. Who knows? I'm willing to wait.
What remains constant is my love of writing, specifically the telling of Jackie and Garrett's story. Although book seven will temporarily be the final one in their tale, they will be recurring characters in Charlie's story. I might continue their saga after I finish Charlie's. It's too far ahead to say for sure, but then they have a long future ahead of them.
In book seven, Jackie's faced with a gut wrenching decision. Threatened by a powerful foe, will she send her teenaged child somewhere truly safe, possibly ruining the alliance she and Garrett have worked so hard to build? Or will she send him with her allies where he could still be in danger? Or will she comply with the demands of her enemy? If you've read the books, I think you know what Jackie decides.
Book seven is written in four points of view! It's crazy, but it keeps me on my toes. It will be out by November, 2013. If you'd be interested in an ARC ebook let me know on the contact form why you'd like one. I'll pick ten readers and send it out before the release date.
Thanks and happy reading!

Book Seven: A big step forward.
This year has been a momentous one for me on a very personal level. I've settled into a new home, returning to California, the state of my childhood, but also leaving behind friends and family who mean the world to me.
It's been scary. It's been amazing. It took courage that I wasn't sure I had. And humor. Lots of humor. Sometimes when you dig deep it makes you laugh.

BOOK 6, TORN APART, and more to come.

I'm so excited! Torn Apart , book six in the Rogues Shifter Series, should be on sale by the end of May. My cover designer, Tatiana, has finished the cover. Awesome, right? I'm polishing my end and can't wait to share Jackie and Garrett's continuing story with all of you who enjoy following it.
In Torn Apart, Jackie and Garrett's son Charlie is five years old and already showing signs of his coming powers. When I began to write this book, I made the decision to skip ahead, something I'd avoided so far in the series. (The first five books take place within five months of the beginning of Rebirth.) The main reason I skipped five years was because, having raised two kids of my own, I felt that a five year old is a more interesting age to explore, already showing signs of becoming an independent individual...more so than an infant or a toddler.
I want you, as readers, to get a feel for who this child is - particularly because I intend to write a spinoff series beginning when Charlie is seventeen...the same age as Jackie when I started to write the books. (Okay she was 16...but turned 17 two days later) Charlie's life won't be an easy one. An incredible prophesy has been delivered by Sinlae regarding his future and that he plays an instrumental part in the war, helping to save the fae and his shifter community.
Just think for a minute about how it would be for a young man to grow up under that pressure. Makes for an interesting spinoff in my humble opinion. I hope you think so too.
Of course the emphasis is mostly on Jackie in Torn Apart. She spends quite a lot of time in the Demon Realm where I'm exploring her ability to use both her demon and shifter magic together to come up with something unique. But then Jackie has always been unique, marching to her own drumbeat throughout the series.
You'll have a chance to really get to know Isaiah and some of the creatures who inhabit his world. I had a lot of fun writing dialogue between Isaiah and Jackie, since both of them are wise-asses. The only difference is that now they're on his turf where Isaiah's true colors emerge.
I intend to write book seven in the Rogues Shifter Series before I write the first book of Charlie's series. It's already plotted out, and I can tell you now that it's going to be a rough one for our girl.
Please let me know how you feel about this book or any of the other books in the series. I love to get your input. :0)

Smashwords, book covers and the best laid plans
As with everything in life, things come out better if you take the time to do them right the first time.
Now that I've decided to publish on Smashwords, I've had to reformat every book to fit their specifications. This is absolutely fine, because I know that I'll reach a lot more readers this way. Their books go out to Sony and Apple and Kobo as well as Barnes and Noble and Amazon.. It's just time consuming.
I've had to put aside writing Book Six to do it, which ties me up in a non-creative knot. I love spending time with my characters every day, and even though I'm back in Book Two, Stalked, at the moment, I'm editing and not writing.
However, I'm also working with a wonderful book cover designer, Tatiana Villa. You can see her first design for Rebirth on my home page. Here's a link to her website in case you're a writer and have a book to cover. http://tat-94.wix.com/viladesign She's professional, reasonably priced and extremely patient with me. Thank you Tatiana! I've had to pull my adult paranormal book, until she can design a proper cover. However, my Rogues Shifter books come first.
And because I'm changing the covers, I'm also changing the price. The books are still extremely reasonable and once I have at least three covers up, I'm going to offer coupon discounts through Smashwords. It's a great site, check it out.
So I'm officially apologizing to you for pushing the date back on the release of Book Six. It will be done as soon as I have a chance to dedicate the hours necessary to do justice to Jackie and Garrett's tale.
Here's a tiny Book Six Spoiler: Jackie's with Isaiah in the Demon Realm for some of the book, which irritates Garrett and the fae. Plus Charlie is five and already beginning to shine. And there's so much more... :0)
