‘Girls5eva’ Third Season of the series on Netflix: the four most disastrous girls in the music scene make a comeback
Girls5eva is a series starring Sara Bareilles, Busy Philipps, Paula Pell, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Daniel Breaker and Erika Henningsen.
A series produced by Tina Fey features four lovely girls trying to resurrect their faltering music career. ‘Girls5eva’ is a group of girls resembling the likes of Spice Girls, Generation Girls, or T-ara. Now in their prime, they are attempting to reclaim their past glories… whether successful or not.
Their career remains a comical disaster in this third season, performing in secondary cities while on tour and making one blunder after another. One, with her girlfriends; another, with business delusions; a third one trying to feign responsibility; and a fourth, who fails to quit alcohol, nor wants to.
This third season is just like the first two, offering humor for humor’s sake and absolute absurdity with four girls who, mind you, have lots of follies to share and who are incredibly entertaining and endearing despite their imperfections.
About the series‘Girls5eva’ kicks off its third season with an SNL (Saturday Night Live) type humor that is largely parodic, clever, and filled with short sketches, with a big chunk of sit-com style humor. The type of humor that allows you to sit back, relax, and turn off your brain. These four women are such a mess that you won’t be able to stop laughing, or at least, cracking a smile.
As a series, it’s not “Game of Thrones” nor does it have any artistic pretenses. It’s a parody of the countless girl bands that have emerged in music history, succeeding like a fizzy drink, only to disappear without leaving a trace.
The group in the series, however, stubbornly refuses to disappear despite their elusive success. So sit back, relax and forget about your brain, because you won’t need it. We absolutely love this group!

Art of Love (2024) – Netflix Movie: How to Date a Millionaire Robber
Art of Love is a Turkish film starring Birkan Sokullu and Esra Bilgiç. It is directed by Recai Karagöz.
“Art of Love” is a Turkish comedy that combines robberies and love, all with scenes that, at least, will make us smile.
I warn you: there is nothing to take seriously: it is a conscious film that was born as mere entertainment and the script, which borders on parody, does not seem to make sense.
Entertaining, yes.
PlotA millionaire dedicates himself to stealing works of art and a policewoman who had a relationship with him wants to catch him.
Her plan is as far-fetched and absurd as the story: to seduce him again to trap the thief, all in the midst of romance and art.
To top it all off: a gorgeous hacker is in the middle, so the policewoman and the hacker will start to distrust each other, both attracted to the millionaire.
It’s not going to be very serious, is it?
About the movieThe plot, as you may have guessed, is bordering on the absurd and is incredible to the extreme. Beyond this, the performances are also a bit in this style; with dialogues that, halfway between irony, absurdity, and comedy, also contribute their dose of hilarity to this comedy of robberies and love.
Will it make you laugh? Yes, for sure, although we hope you don’t have to write a review about the movie, because you’ll have a hard time. It’s a movie that doesn’t take itself seriously or the audience, not even bothering to give a little verisimilitude to this story that, most of the time, borders on the absurd (existential or not).
All eyes are on Esra Bilgiç, a very beautiful and talented actress who, however, does not have the script or the movie to showcase her skills. She does well, but with these dialogues there is no way to bring a character to life.
Our opinionIt doesn’t take itself seriously or want to. Are you looking for a good movie with a good script? No, this is not it. Entertainment without having to use your brain for absolutely anything? It may serve you. Enjoy it.

Teetering On The Brink: Femininity, Inheritance, And Disaster – Claire Oliver Gallery, New York
New York, NY | March 7, 2024 – Claire Oliver Gallery is pleased to present Teetering on the Brink: Femininity, Inheritance, and Disaster, a special group exhibition marking the New York City debut of work by artists Sami Tsang, Ebony Russell, and Suyao Tian. The exhibition spans media including figurative sculpture, watercolor on paper, sculptural vessels, and installation and explores the themes of memory, childhood, patriarchal societal values, and female identity through the lens of multiple cultures and vernaculars. Teetering on the Brink: Femininity, Inheritance, and Disaster will be on view at Claire Oliver Gallery’s Harlem gallery from March 15 through May 11, 2024.

“I’m thrilled to share the work of these three incredible artists,” states Claire Oliver. “While completely distinct, these artists share a commonality of concept, exploring the knotty issues of childhood, what we inherit and what we reject, and how being feminine and female are still viewed as an issue through a societal lens. By creating powerful, emotional works of art that are symbolic, personal, and deeply narrative, these artists have upended what is expected and opened new lines of dialogue on an age-old issue, still thorny and in need of discussion.”
Teetering on the Brink features nearly 30 abstract and figurative sculptures and paintings on paper.
Sami Tsang
Sami Tsang is a Toronto-based ceramic artist whose work explores domestic encounters and private narratives born out of the flux amidst two cultures – Chinese and Western. Mediated through materials and self-reflection, Tsang’s work is a raw, truthful, and spontaneous response to the artist’s feelings in a given moment.
Chinese proverbs from childhood memories inspire the artist’s initial sketches. As the piece evolves, the artist draws from the different stages of her childhood and adolescence where she often felt repressed and silenced. Tsang’s large-scale works point to the importance of representation and taking up space in connection with others. Her figurative sculptures are created from ceramics, rice paper, and textiles, creating characters that weave together domestic and psychological narratives related to the conservatism of her youth. She often references Chinese proverbs while using humor, distortion, and whimsy. Her work is a complex fusion of autobiography as a first-generation Chinese Canadian woman and symbolic markers of a common experience of the trap of domesticity and subjugation of individuality in contrast with liberation and exaltation of self-expression.
Tsang studied traditional Chinese painting for seven years in Hong Kong, which profoundly affected her pursuit of an art career. She earned her BA in Craft & Design from Sheridan College (2019) and her MFA in Ceramic Art from Alfred University, NY (2021).

Ebony Russell
Ebony Russell is an artist living and working in Sydney, Australia. Her porcelain sculptures defy traditional notions of the medium, challenging all perceived understandings about working with porcelain. Ornate and baroque, her sculptures and installations are characterized by decadent swirls and curlicues and the finely detailed visual repertoire of piped icing and cake decorating. Her work investigates nostalgia and traditional female craft through sculpture that is at first glance girlish and romantic yet upon closer inspection, fraught with danger and complex emotional realities.
The environments and structures Russell creates include heavily embellished tiaras, crying golden tears and hiding slight cracks and fissures amongst the folds of myriad roses. Although seemingly fragile there is an underlying sense of inner strength and defiance to each of these works. They may appear delicate, but Russell’s works are a feat of technical mastery and will not crumble or break. Prompting us to consider the childhood dreams and ideals over which we once obsessed, Russell’s works allow us to remember and grieve the childhood dreams we once held, allowing us to discuss the past and create new and more varied understandings of ourselves as women.
“Objects can stir memories and are used mnemonically to create, store, and retrieve a sense of past,” says Russell. “My work is a response to aspects of my experience, focusing on my personal connection to these objects through childhood memory, identity, and contemporary collecting practices”.
Russel received her Masters in Fine Arts (Ceramics) from the National Art School, Sydney, and now lectures the Masters ceramics classes at the NAS.

Bandidos (2024) – A Mexican series on Netflix: A fun adventure series with Ester Expósito and Alfonso Dosal
Bandidos is a series created by Pablo Tébar starring Alfonso Dosal, Ester Expósito and Luis Gerardo Méndez.
A Mexican comedy series that effectively uses the popularity of its two main stars, Ester Expósito and Alfonso Dosal, to create a classic and entertaining story with a great sense of humor. While not a grand production like Indiana Jones, “Bandidos” still manages to entertain and stay true to its relaxed and laid-back style, appealing to a less demanding audience. However, for an adventure series, it lacks more spectacular action scenes. Overall, it fulfills its purpose of entertaining and being family-friendly, blending adventure and con artist genres.

Four swindlers, each with their own skills, form a fun group with a plan to obtain a treasure. Led by Miguel, an aspiring archaeologist who has resorted to forging antiques and scamming tourists until he stumbles upon a map and convinces three accomplices to join him in a risky plan full of adventures.
About the SeriesA series of adventures that combines elements from various genres (comedy, action, romance, and thriller) and adds a touch of nostalgia for adventure lovers, always keeping the audience entertained. The series relies more on dialogue and comedic situations rather than action scenes. “Bandidos” will hook the viewer with its romantic relationships, intrigue, and its main character (Miguel), with his romantic nature and classic spirit that prevents him from giving up on his dream (to become a treasure hunter).
Miguel’s character is well supported by a cast of characters that manage to play their part, keeping the audience entertained, but not necessarily surprised by the script or the treatment of the scenes. The production quality is good, with more focus on the sets rather than CGI effects. The series, although not outstanding, manages to fulfill its purpose and, above all, showcase its stars and give them the necessary spotlight.
At the forefront, and perhaps even above Alfonso Dosal, is Spanish actress Ester Expósito, a model who excels in her role and once again captures all the attention with her impeccable portrayal of the femme fatale. “Bandidos” is full of references to great films, but it does not aim to imitate them, nor does it have hundreds of millions of dollars to offer spectacular scenes. However, within its modest means, it succeeds in entertaining and amusing the audience and providing a good time.
Our OpinionA series that entertains without standing out too much. It is a bet on Mexican talent in the world of streaming on Netflix that effectively leverages the commercial appeal of its two main stars, Ester Expósito and Alfonso Dosal.

Prina Shah: The Unseen – Morton Fine Art, Washinbton
Washington, D.C. – Morton Fine Art is pleased to announce The Unseen, a solo exhibition of painting and works on paper by Nairobi-based visual artist Prina Shah. Underpinned by a practice of internal reflection and meditation, Shah’s works revolve around a constellation of influences and techniques. Reflecting on the lasting effects of political, social and economic instability and her own personal experience of being raised across cultures, Shah limns the inward path of art towards healing and transformation. Formed of concentrate rings (of paint, ink, graphite and found material), which Shah exactingly builds layer by layer, the resulting circular works resemble a disc, a portal, an aperture. Inspiration and outcomes often mirror one another in Shah’s practice: products of attention, they request yours; the result of meditation, they encourage deep-focused engagement. The artist’s first solo exhibition with the gallery and first solo exhibition in the United States, The Unseen, will be on view from March 20 – April 17, 2024at Morton Fine Art’s Washington, D.C. space (52 O St NW #302). An opening reception will be held Saturday, March 23, 2024 from 2-4pm.

Shah’s exhibition brings together the titular, large-scale The Unseen series (43 x 43 in.) alongside smaller works on canvas (Power and Pause series) and works on paper pieces (Inner Whispers series). Channeling a different type and center of energy, each work in the The Unseen series functions as a numinous impression of sorts, charting that energy’s pathway towards a gateway that Shah identifies as a “subtle body.” In Shah’s usage, the subtle body is a portal that connects and influences the separate spaces of the body, mind and spirit. Shah’s work reflects her intimate and articulated knowledge of the customs and practices of her Indian heritage. Often created in tandem with meditation and mantra practices, The Unseen works are projections of contemplation and, ultimately, healing—for both the artist and the viewer. Further still, the artworks’ titles (I Am, I Do, I Know, I Love, I See) add another mirroring layer in Shah’s cycle of intention, inspiration, form and address. Like most of Shah’s work, The Unseen series dually work as record and instruction: a documentation of internal exploration and a hopeful pathway for others to take towards enhanced human consciousness.
A flowing, almost paradoxical sense of stillness, progression and emergence pervade the works. Composed of colorful bands, lines and/or scrolling “text”, the works speak by different forms and colors. I Love (2023) excludes red marks and washes. Threaded with yellow, the lemony line in I Do (2023) may be taken for an radiant unbroken passage written out in luxuriant cursive.

Examples from the Power and Pause series take a more open path, forming a lighter weave than the denser, many-ringed The Unseen works. Executed in flowing ink and pen, the Inner Whispers works evoke a whirling example of surrealist automatic writing. And like automatic writing, efforts
to read Shah’s line as “text,” will not result in any fixed meaning or message, but rather a field of intentions and interpretations.
A master at weaving color and form in her extraordinarily detailed works, the artist brings a similar rigor and curiosity to how she positions and attunes her works. “Excavating the ‘dent’ from ‘Identity’,” Shah explains, “I focus on the ‘I’ as an infinite entity where all experiences occur and recur…I use the circle as the all- perceiving eye.” Punning and deconstructive, the observation is indication of the artist’s interest in the part and whole, the whole in the part, the part of the whole and the whole of the part.
Encouraging an exploratory unraveling, Shah invites the audience to consider the way they perceive their own environment (both internal and external) and to ponder the possibilities of spaces and escape those musings can generate.

Prina Shah (b. 1973, Kenya) is a contemporary artist currently living in Nairobi, Kenya. Born in Kenya to Indian parents, Shah also grew up partially in the U.K.; her artistic work embraces the indeterminacy of her national identity, including a fascination with the formation of selhood as it relates to a specific cultural context. In a creative practice spanning mixed media – including sculpture, painting, and glasswork – Shah’s art challenges the notions of individualized identity within a communal whole. Shah uses meditation as the impetus and foundation of her work, drawing the viewer into a personal narrative and inviting the participant to share in her visual journey of interconnection as she explores what it means to be one among many.
Shah’s work has been included in numerous national and international exhibitions and has been acquired by the permanent collections of Finland’s Poikilo Kouvola Art Museum, Asian Development Bank and the I&M Bank Collective in Kenya, as well as numerous private collections.

‘Turning Point: The Bomb and the Cold War’ – A 9-episode docuseries on Netflix about the Cold War and the current military conflict
Turning Point: The Bomb and the Cold War is a docuseries directed by Brian Knappenberger.
In this instance, we must discuss History and politics, as Netflix has released a nine-episode docuseries on the Cold War, which followed the Second World War. This time period was defined by the detonation of nuclear bombs in Japan, leading to the start of the Cold War, where both sides recognized that the use of nuclear technology could lead to extinction in the event of another conflict. The invasion of Ukraine, as stated in “Turning Point: The Bomb and the Cold War,” is considered a consequence of this ongoing period, affecting all aspects of society, not just the military.
This extensive documentary aims to explain the events of this time period, its significance, and why it continues to impact the world today. While this topic may be beyond the scope of this magazine, we will touch upon the Netflix documentary that has just been released.
About the documentary:“Turning Point: The Bomb and the Cold War” is a historical documentary that takes a stance in favor of the Western side, specifically the United States and Europe, with interviews from well-known figures such as Zelenski and others. The documentary primarily delves into the transition from Gorbachev to Putin, with Yeltsin in between, and why Ukraine plays a crucial role in the formation of Putin’s new Russian Empire, and why the West must oppose it. All of these events trace back to the Cold War and various propaganda campaigns, which continue to influence the world today, with the looming threat of a nuclear bomb.
“Turning Point: The Bomb and the Cold War” is an incredibly interesting documentary that explains what occurred during this time period and how it has led us to the current state of affairs. It is composed of archival footage and interviews, covering topics such as propaganda, armed conflicts, politics, and the bomb that defined it all.
The rest of the events are beyond our scope, and we would prefer not to comment on them. The documentary is now available on Netflix.
