Tease Me Thursday Week #11 - The Yellow Rope

Welcome to week 11 of Tease Me Thursday ! When it's not quite Friday, and you're feeling like some fun from your favorite authors and authors you haven't met yet. Come on in, have a seat, and most of all... have fun! For this hop you post 7 paragraphs or 7 sentences or 7 words. It can be from a WIP or something published. For this week, I thought I’d do something from The Yellow Rope.

Gage returned, both hands behind his back. “Here we go.” “Sir?” “Hold on, you’ll love this.” Gage walked closer, a fiendish smile on his face. “Oh, Jesus, now what?” If it would help he’d beg, but he knew it wouldn’t. At least his orgasm had backed off. Gage held up a can of whipped cream and Luke’s toes curled. “What’s that…Oh, my God, Gage!” Luke shouted as Gage sprayed the whipped cream straight on one of his nipples. “Cold—that’s damn cold!” Luke grunted as Gage’s warm mouth covered his creamed-covered nipple, sucking and nibbling. He was still babbling when Gage raised his head and tapped his mouth. “Suck them, or I gag you.” Gage set the can of spray cream down.

Chapter One On a star-filled night, the full moon shone brightly over the untamed land. Predators, nothing but shadows in the dark, moved through the forest, hunting for unsuspecting prey. A symphony of sound echoed all around. Tree frogs sang, crickets chirped, and a raccoon prowled in search of something to fill his empty belly. A barred owl hooted, his call reverberating into the night. Bats silently dipped and spun, hunting for food on the warm air currents as danger lurked. A wolf howled, his cry crossing the land, then fading. A mysterious shadow moved through the forest, tracking the docile prey not far beyond the safety of the trees. Out on the moon-draped landscape, the plains reached for miles. The buffalo stood silently as the night held the land tight in its grip. In this wild land there was only one creature who walked upright, stalking the flat plains and rolling hills on two legs. The Great Spirit, called Wha-tay, had created Mother Earth. Then her children, The People, inhabited the land and settled at The Tree of Life—the soul of Mother Earth. Each child born to The People was bound with a spirit—maybe a land spirit, a water spirit, a plant spirit, or an animal spirit. Once bound, each had the ability to use the gifts the spirit had. Children of Wha-tay lived in harmony with the creatures around them. The land provided what they needed to survive, and they gave thanks for the sacrifices made to support them.“It’s too damn bright, Mapiya. Do something.” “Would you give me a second, Chetan? It’s not like I can just pull a cloudy night out of my ass.” Mapiya’s totem had the ability to control the weather. Mapiya cleared her thoughts, letting the words that would bring her powers fill her mind. Closing her eyes, she gave her body over to her totem spirit and called to the Spirits that ruled the air. Taking a deep breath, she began to chant. A cool, gentle breeze wrapped around her body. The clear nighttime sky slowly filled with rolling clouds that blocked the moonbeams. The silvery light faded as the night darkened. Mapiya’s long hair whipped above her head as the breeze strengthened. Opening her eyes, she cast the land in shadows. Her eyes were a milky white, and glowed with power.“Damn, you really are something else,” Chetan whispered. “That’s good, Mapiya. The moon’s behind the clouds and the land is cloaked in darkness.”Mapiya turned to Chetan, smirking. “Try not to stumble over your own feet now, warrior.”“I’m more worried about you hitting me with a bolt of light from the sky.”“It’s crossed my mind.”A low growl drew Chetan’s attention to a shadow that parted from the blackness. A sleek, black cougar paced forward, nudging its head against Chetan’s deerskin leg. He scratched the black cougar behind the ear. “Ready to hunt, are you? The others ready?”The black cougar, known as Hania in his human form, glanced back to the forest. There, in the darkness, Chetan could see the glow of eyes … eyes of predators, in fact. Squinting, he saw several of The Children in shifted form. Chetan sniffed the air. Unless he was mistaken, there were golden cougars, wolves, coyotes, and several bobcats. Along with those were animals that did not roam their land. More than a few big cats they had no name for waited silently too. Their coats were a reddish-orange with dark stripes. These were the largest of the big cats and weighted a vast amount. A few owls perched on branches, waiting for the signal. They would be their warning system. Behind them were more of their tribe in human form, carrying bows and other weapons.“Mapiya, make sure the breeze doesn’t carry our scent to the buffalo. Keep our smell downwind.”“This is not my first day.”“Still.” Chetan shrugged. He turned to the group of predators that waited. “Everyone in shifted form, split up and come at the herd form the west and east. Stampede the pack toward the cliffs. The rest of us not shifted will get ahead of the herd. As they pass, we’ll take as many as we can once the buffalo stamp toward us.” The black cougar made a huffing noise, and Chetan glanced down at him. “Give us time to get into position, Hania. What we can’t take down, a trip over the cliffs should take care of. Remember, only the take the weak and the old ones.”Another warrior in human form, Lootah, shifted his bow higher onto his shoulder. “I’ll leave a little before the women finish skinning to make sure the fires are ready for the celebration.”“Thank you. That would be helpful.” Chetan nodded. Lootah’s totem was one of those big cats for which they had no name. They assumed the animal existed somewhere in the world. Chetan stared at a very young brave, shifting from foot to foot. “Isi, you’re to stay with me at all times since this is your first hunt.”Isi rolled his eyes. “Is that really—”Chetan held up his hand, halting Isi’s words. “Yes. I promised your mother I’d keep an eye on you.”Isi’s bottom lip stuck out. “You’re my mentor, not my father.”“True. I’m your uncle, not your father. But your father is with the other shifters, so you’re stuck with me. This is dangerous, and I don’t want you getting hurt. Give me any problems and I swear I’ll tie you to the nearest tree. Understand?” “Yeah.”Chetan stared at the young warrior. “Excuse me?”“Yes, sir.”
By the Great Spirit, this kid was going to be the death of him. He’d been involved in Isi’s life since the young brave had been born. This was his sister’s only child. Wha-tay hadn’t blessed Isi’s parents with more children. Chetan let his eyes wander over Isi. Isi was a man according to their ways, but he was still so young-minded.

*grin* Sound familiar? It's the follow up to Shadows in the Night that's with DsP. I had talked about doing Wrapped in Chains, but this series has been out longer. And I should have already written the next book lol, but a couple of cats distracted me. ;)

Just Another Manic Monday - Crossfire by Jon Keys (Men in Uniform anthology from Torquere Press.)

Hey M.A.! Thanks for letting me visit! I’m really excited to guest on your site today. I’m thrilled about the release of Crossfire as part of the Men in Uniform anthology from Torquere Press.

Blurb:Rick Anthis, a forty-five year old veteran of the Colorado State Police, and his husband, Gabriel Thorkelson, a deputy sheriff in a nearby county, enjoy the peace of their suburban Boulder home. Until three gunshots rip through the tranquil neighborhood and Rick witnesses the kidnapping of his buddy, eight year old Jacob. The clues are sparse until Gabe reminds Rick of something Jacob had said. Rick has a starting point. He and his CSI team locate the remote hideout, only to find the the kidnappers are gone, and Gabe is missing too.

Excerptfrom Crossfire.Rick dried the last dish and handed it to Gabriel to put away. Gabriel settled the last plate into the white cabinets. He loved their house and the quiet, older neighborhood it was in. He hoped Mark and Rachel could work out their issues, keeping Jacob in the forefront.Rick put his hand around Gabriel's slender waist. He's as sexy as he was in college. Damn just being next to him makes me randy. Releasing Gabriel, Rick folded the dishtowel carefully and laid it beside the sink. "Supper was great. You're a damn fine cook."Gabriel snickered and spun to pop Rick with a wet towel. "It should taste good. Your mother gave me herbs from her garden the last time we visited.""Mom's just trying to fatten me up. I'm kind of skinny for a forty-three year old Greek man."The towel snapped against Rick's butt again and he grabbed at it. Gabriel danced away, his face lit with delight. "Where does that leave me?"Rick swept Gabriel up and kissed him. "It leaves you in my arms, just where you should be."Rick paused as he remembered the note in his pocket. Leaving his hand on the small of Gabriel's back he reached in his shirt pocket and fished out a small piece of yellow paper. He gripped it between two fingers and dangled the sheet in front of Gabriel."Speaking of, I found another note in my lunch."Gabriel studied the symbols on the page as if he'd never seen them. "Huh, what do you think that means?"Rick smiled. "I know what it's meant the last dozen times I found one in my lunch.""Really? And what was that?""It meant I was going to be exhausted the whole next day.""You don't say. Let me see that." Gabriel took the paper from Rick's hand and appeared to study the content. "Looks like Native American symbols. Hmm, maybe 'bear' and 'hunt'." He smiled at Rick with a glimmer in his eyes. "Are we going on a bear hunt this fall?" Gabriel reached up and tugged on the short hair coming from the top of Rick's T-shirt. The slight touch shifted his libido into high gear.He nuzzled his face against Gabriel's throat and sighed at the spicy fragrance that curled through his nostrils. Rick slid his hand under Gabriel's shirt; the rub of his chest hair on Rick's palm ignited his desire. "What's the sign for otter? Because I think I need to hunt one of those little furry things." I still can't believe Mom gave Gabe my Eagle Scout pictogram project.

Bio:Jon Keys’ earliest memories revolve around books; with the first ones he can recall reading himself being “The Warlord of Mars” and anything with Tarzan. (The local library wasn’t particularly up to date.) But as puberty set in he started sneaking his mother’s romance magazines and added the world of romance and erotica to his mix of science fiction, fantasy, and comic books.A voracious reader for almost half a century, Jon has only recently begun creating his own flights of fiction for the entertainment of others. Born in the Southwest and now living in the Midwest, Jon has worked as a ranch hand, teacher, computer tech, roughneck, designer, retail clerk, welder, artist, and, yes, pool boy; with interests ranging from kayaking and hunting to painting and cooking, he draws from a wide range of life experiences to create written works that draw the reader in and wrap them in a good story.

Now for the interview with Jon!How do you come up with the titles to your books?Lists, lots of word association lists. I don’t think I’ve ever had a title at the beginning of planning a manuscript, and only a few times have I had a title before I started writing. But here’s my method. I put down any word that might be descriptive of the story. Anything. No editing at this point. Then start putting them together. At that point it doesn’t matter how ridiculous they sound together, I put them down. Once I have the a few listed, I’ll delete some before I add more. Some are just dumb, and that’s okay. I think you have to get the bad ideas out before you can get to the good stuff. Sometimes it takes a few weeks with adding new ones and deleting old ones that I don’t like any more until I get to a title I like. “Crossfire” is a good example. It took me a couple of weeks to come up with the title.
What is the hardest part about writing for you?Editing. Hands down that’s the hardest part. I’m sure the poor people who beta read for me think I’m lazy, but I just don’t see the little details. My brain fills them in nicely for me. Head hopping? What’s head hopping? But I’m slowly getting better. I do specific passes for each thing. A POV pass, a plot pass, a character voice pass, an animated body part pass. Really, it's a little sad. But I love, love, love telling the story.
Are you working on anything at the present you would like to tell us about?Oh, far too many projects probably! I have another short story coming out in July, “Showstring”, about two very different guys who meet and fall for each other at the state fair. Then in September my first novella should be released. “Home Grown” is a foodie romance with a perfect storm of things going wrong for the poor guys. In February my first novel is coming out. “Drawing the Devil” is about a budding romance between a champion bull rider and one of the rodeo clowns.Things still in the works include my NaNoWriMo project for last year. It’s my first fantasy story, and is a rescue drama set in the Iron Age. I’m hoping to start it looking for a home by the end of summer. I also have another couple of short stories that I’m developing. Apparently I need tons of things happening!
What do you like to do when you are not writing?Read and watch TV, I guess those are givens. I also love to garden, so I have a large vegetable garden and love to plant perennials around the house. I do some biking and kayaking during the warm months and usually cross-country ski during the winter.
How do you do research for your books?Google and Wikipedia are my buddy’s when I start. A lot of my stories are based on subjects I know quite a bit about. Law enforcement isn’t one of those. For Crossfire I questioned people who knew a lot more about it than I did. It took some creative juggling and perhaps a little suspension of belief, but hopefully everyone will enjoy it.
What are your favorite TV shows?Big Bang Theory! No question about it. I’ve known all those people in real life and I’ve known more than one Sheldon. One of the funniest ones for me is actually Sheldon’s mother. Oh my gosh! Most of my friend’s mothers were exactly like her.A close second is Faceoff on the SciFi channel. I’m addicted. I love to see what designs they come up with, and if I agree with the judges or not.
What group did you hang out with in high school?I went to a tiny high school, we had to do double duty. LOL I was part of the Vo-Ag group (ie. farm kids) and I guess one of the smart kids (don’t be too impressed, like I said…small school.) If there’s been something like an AV group, I would probably have been part of that too, but they didn’t. Oh, I was also one of the art students. Never one of the cool kids or the jocks though. Cool I’ve never mastered, and the sports I would have done, our school didn’t offer.~ Jon ~

Goddess Fish Presents The Surgeon's Apprentice by Richard Longfellow and a Contest

This post is part of a virtual book tour organized by Goddess Fish Promotions. Richard will be awarding a $25 Amazon Gift Card to a randomly drawn commenter during the tour. Click on the tour banner to see the other stops on the tour. Remember, the more stops you visit and comment, the better your chances to win.

Alex is a ditzy but adorable final-year medical student, whose sex life seems doomed to fantasies about Hollywood hunks and abuse and misuse of the mirror in his bedroom. Then along comes blond and blue-eyed Will, all sinewy muscles, a gorgeous face and a top orthopaedic surgeon to boot, but equally hopeless when it comes to love. Their first encounter in his clinic is almost ruined by an embarrassing incident with a pair of disposable briefs, but mutual attraction prevails and brings them together.

When ghosts from Will's past threaten their future together and all looks lost, Alex devises a plan to save Will’s reputation.

But will love be enough to save the day and win Alex the man of his dreams? Or will he be doomed to eating his favorite apple crumble all alone-–with lashings of crème anglaise, of course.

Now enjoy an excerpt:

William Jackson realised a long time ago that the strength required in orthopaedic surgery didn’t necessarily have to come from brute force, which was probably why he preferred treating mechanical problems in athletes rather than overbuilt rugby players or the arthritic elderly. That rather set him apart from most of his colleagues who were built like brick shithouses and enjoyed nothing better than donning a space suit and plunging into a creaking hip joint. So today’s theatre list was the sort he enjoyed: a straightforward knee replacement in a younger than average patient and some arthroscopies on otherwise fit and healthy athletes.

In fact, he’d recently completed a study comparing minimally invasive procedures for elite athletes with joint injuries against normal patients and was surprised to learn he was on the short-list for an award from the Society of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He didn’t have a chance of winning, of course, but he was still dead chuffed to be considered.

Along with going for awards, there was another game to be played if you wanted to make it in surgery, which involved ‘playing it straight’, or at least that was the advice given by someone who’d sussed out that his Kinsey score was something above zero. His conveniently manufactured ‘girlfriends’ had sufficed in interviews, and he’d even exaggerated their status to ‘fiancée’ on a few occasions, but he dreaded having to demonstrate their existence and found ways of opting out of gatherings where a partner was included in the invitation. He tried to see himself as a Kinsey ‘X’ but his mirror regarded him otherwise, particularly when he lapped up his own cum.

“And I’d concur with that view, you pompous prat.”

Encountering that naïve but handsome medical student in the outpatient clinic had certainly bowled him a googly, to coin an expression that was much used by his colleagues, regardless of their interest in cricket. That he’d subsequently indulged in sexual fantasies at home featuring said medical student was something he found only too easy to enjoy but difficult to accept. Guilt did its best to haunt him in dreams. These invariably involved him being dramatically outed and then made to pay for his sins in front of colleagues, the General Medical Council and the rest of the prejudiced world. Last night, he’d woken in the early hours of the morning covered in sweat. He knew why but this time he couldn’t recall the details of the dream, which concerned him and made him think there was rather more to come.

So, as on other occasions when he’d found a student attractive, the only solution was to put young Alex out of his mind and get on with his job. He then remembered that the student in question was meant to be coming to his list today. It was fortunate that consultants had a separate locker room but he seriously wondered whether it would be sufficient to keep them apart for long. He had more than a sneaking suspicion that the attraction was mutual; the student’s open-mouthed expression on walking into the clinic wasn’t the usual reaction he expected of a student meeting a consultant for the first time.

“So do something about it, then!”

Richard Longfellow resides in London, Great Britain and works as a doctor. He’s tall, dark and handsome, and currently unattached. When he’s not tending to his patients, he enjoys stroking his two cats, movies with happy endings and opening the very best champagne, although not necessarily in that order. His favourite male movie stars include Brad Pitt and Hugh Jackman. ‘The Surgeon’s Apprentice’ is his first novella of quintessentially British, gay erotica.

Meow!” On the table sat one of the biggest black cats I’d ever seen, giving me the eye.“Oh fuck me, you have got to be kidding. I don’t think so, pal.” I didn’t have anything against cats. It was just… I was barely taking care of myself, so how was I supposed to take care of a cat?xt my house started falling apart, and every appliance I owned stopped working.  Of course they were out of warranty. That superstitious old saying about trouble comes in threes? Well, I was waiting for ‘number three’ to show up and kick me in the ball at any time.“Okay, cat, let’s go.” I pointed at the open door, finger not quivering, voice strong and steady. Cool, check me out. I sounded commanding. Authoritative. I even impressed myself. The cat looked at me and flicked his tail. Then the damn thing shot out his back leg and started licking it. “Seriously?” The cat didn’t seemed half as impressed as I was with myself. Figures. I couldn’t even intimidate a stupid cat. Color me wuss. I shivered in the cold draft from the open door… Shit, the door was still open. Heat gushed out while I tried talking a cat out the damn door. And he wasn’t having any of it, seemed like. “Here, kitty, kitty.” Again I called to the cat, and again the cat ignored me. Okay, it appeared we were at a standoff. I nodded my head at the open door. The cat licked its balls. Alrighty then. Guess that answered that. Ball licking won over stupid head nod any day of the week. I shut the door.

Chapter Eight

“Oh, wow,” Tal gasped. “That was… oh, wow.”“That…” Kirk blew out a breath, his bangs fluttering. “Actually, that was intense.”“Feel okay?” Dolf petted Kirk’s naked leg.Kirk started to speak, then stopped. “You bit me, didn’t you?”Dolf smirked. Guess Kirk wasn’t as out of it as he’d first thought. “I did, indeed. I took your blood and started the mating process with you too.”“Jesus, what is it with you guys biting my cock?” Kirk glanced at Tal, then at Dolf. “And why are you still dressed?”Dolf’s hand moved higher up Kirk’s leg. “I was enjoying you two so much I didn’t want to look away and undress.”“Well, come on, man, get naked.” Kirk tugged at the borrowed sweatshirt Dolf wore. Dolf undressed and lay down by Kirk. Yawning, Kirk’s eyes close. “Wanted to… God, I’m tired.”“No rush, Kirk.”“Yeah, just gonna rest my eyes for a minute.”
Kirk opened his eyes to see Dolf adding wood to the fireplace. “Oh, hey, you’re awake.” Tal grinned.“Sorry, I must’ve dozed off for a second.”“For a second? Kirk, you’ve been asleep for over an hour and a half.”“No way. I just closed my eyes a minute ago.”“Yeah, an hour and a half ago,” Tal giggled. Kirk opened his mouth to argue, but didn’t. Instead he moaned. “Jesus, seeing all this golden skin laid out there for my viewing pleasure… Fuck, I sprung wood so fast my head throbbed. At least it’s pounding in beat with something else.”“Mmmm, nice,” Tal purred.“Tal, on your side, sweetheart. Kirk, I would like for you to get Tal ready to take your cock.”“But…” Kirk stalled out as Tal lay down. “I thought—”“I’m going to be getting you ready at the same time.”Tal moaned. “Oh, he’s going to fuck you as you fuck me.”“I am.” Dolf helped Kirk get into position. “Here… yes, lay on your side, Kirk, facing Tal’s feet. That way you can finger him and suck his dick. Right, now bend that leg so I can reach your hole. Tal, you can come whenever, but Kirk? Please try to wait until I’m in you. Hear me, Tal? Don’t make Kirk come with your mouth.”“Yes, Dolf.”Dolf squirted lube on Dolf’s fingers, then on Kirk’s. It didn’t take either man long to get into the groove of things. Tal had swallowed Kirk’s dick. Kirk had one finger buried in Tal’s ass and was doing his best to deep-throat Tal’s cock. Perfect. Dolf situated himself by Kirk’s ass. Was there anything more lovely than watching two hot guys suck each other? Especially his two hot guys? Tal’s head rested on one of his arms, his other hand was on Kirk’s leg. Tal’s hips thrust back and forth as he buried his cock in Kirk’s mouth. Tal was constantly moaning. Tal popped off Kirk’s dick, signing loudly. “Oh… oh, yes. Go slow, Kirk. I like gentle. Yes, yes, yes! Like that. Ah, ah, that’s so good.”   “Like Kirk’s finger in your ass, sweetheart?” Dolf asked.“Oh, feels so good.” Tal whimpered. “More, Kirk. Please. Just like that.” Tal abruptly yowled. “Right there!”“Found your prostate, didn’t he?”“Y-y-yes.” Tal cried out. “His fingers are so big.”Dolf brushed his hand through Tal’s hair since it was right there. “Take care of him too, sweetheart.”Tal lowered his head and eagerly swallowed Kirk’s dick. Dolf lubed his fingers and pressed slowly inside his human. Kirk was still loose from when Tal made love to him. Dolf quickly slipped in another finger and heard Kirk groan. A wicked grin crossed Dolf’s face. Kirk liked the burn. He spread his fingers open, dragging another grunt from Kirk. Gleefully, he added another fingers. The demanding whimper from Kirk told him a lot. Tal didn’t want that sexy bite of pain, but Kirk did. “Love how your ass wants my fingers, how it sucks them right in. I going to fuck until you yell for me because you like it like that, don’t you? You like that burn.”Kirk thrust his hips back, trying to take more.“I’m going to come in you, Kirk, just like Tal did. Going to fill you with my seed and claim you as mine, then watch it drip out of your ass—dirty you up.”Kirk pulled his mouth off Tal’s shaft. “Fuck, me, Dolf.”“Hands and knees, both of you.” There was a scramble as both Kirk and Tal assumed the position. Kirk, on his knees, held his shaft while his other hand petted Tal hip. “Going to go slow, Tal.  Let me know if it hurts.”“You’re so…” Tal purred hard. “So good, Kirk. Fills me so good. Claim me, mate.”“Shit,” Kirk whispered, freezing. “It’s okay, Kirk.” Dolf moved behind Kirk. “You can do this. He’s claimed you, and I’m going to now. You have to claim us too. Just think about coming in him with nothing in the way, of filling him up.”“I… I know. Just panicked for a second.” Kirk blew out a breath, slowly working his length inside Tal. He rubbed his hands up and down Tal’s back. “Oh, oh, Kirk, wow. I need you to fuck me,” Tal panted.“Let me get inside him, Tal, and he will. We both will,” Dolf said.Kirk glanced back at Dolf. “I’m open enough. Do it. Fucking take my ass, man.”Dolf grasped Kirk’s hips and pushed in, not stopping as he filled Kirk up. Kirk groaned roughly but Dolf kept going until he bottomed out. All three of them froze. Finally Kirk spoke. “Move, Dolf. Fuck me so I can fuck him.”Dolf’s claws lightly pierced Kirk’s hip. “Holy shit, is that claws I feel?” Kirk gasped.Taking a good hold, Dolf pulled out and slammed back inside. “Fuck right it is. Does that scare you?”A low moan tore out of Kirk as his cock pushed into Tal. “Hell no. I can take whatever you can give.”“Good.” Dolf took Kirk at his work. Dolf pumped into Kirk, making Kirk plow into Tal. Loud purrs, needy growls, and a human voice demanding to come echoed through the den.“I’m close,” Tal huffed.“Me too.” Kirk tightened his grip on Tal. Dolf reached across Kirk and ran a claw over the meaty part of Tal’s shoulder. A thin line of blood welled up.“Don’t think, Kirk. Just do it. You have to in order to finish the mating process with Tal. Now, drink.” Kirk pressed his lips to the cut on Tal’s shoulder. “Oh shit, oh shit…” Tal came, his come fountaining out in front of him.“Fuck… coming!” Kirk raised his head and licked the blood off his lips, shouting like Dolf said he would.
“Going to fucking claim you too.” Dolf spurted deep inside Kirk, marking the human as his.

The End (for now lol).

Hop Against Homophobia and Transphobia 2014

International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia!

* * * *

Gay couples in Arkansas will not be able to get wedding licenses, even though the state Supreme Court upheld a ruling that struck down the ban on same-sex marriage, because a separate law that prevents clerks issuing the licenses to same-sex couples is still on the books.

The justices, in their decision, offered no direction to the county clerks, who knew before the ruling came out that guidance for clerks was still on the books. They had wanted to know what to do with the conflicting findings: the gay-marriage ban is unconstitutional, but clerks aren't authorized to do anything about it.

After Piazza's decision last Friday, clerks in five counties responded by issuing marriage licenses to gay couples. Through Wednesday evening, 456 gay couples in Arkansas had since received permission to marry, according to an Associated Press canvass of county clerks. Pulaski and Washington counties issued licenses Wednesday, but said after the ruling they would stop.

Couples that already have licenses can still get married.

I was so proud of my birth state for pushing this through. And in a Bible-belt state no less! Allowing same-marriage is an on-going fight that is slowly but surely making it's way across this great land.

Then, of course the state backpedaled and put everything on hold. Surprised? No. Disappointed? You bet. But it was a small step in the right direction...

Small, steady steps. :)

Marriage is being redefined as society's attitudes evolve, and the majority of Americans now support gay marriage. As of Jan. 6, 2014, gay marriage has been legalized in 17 US states (CA, CT, DE, HI, IA, IL, MA, MD, ME, MN, NH, NJ, NM, NY, RI, VT, and WA) and the District of Columbia. 33 states have gay marriage bans through either laws or constitutional amendments or both.

Three people will win one of my ebooks!
They will get to pick one of the following: Shadows in the Night, Wrapped in Leather, or The Harvest:Taken.

Just leave a comment to enter and an email address. The hop ends late on the 24th.  I'll announce the winners on the 25th.

Tease Me Thursday Week 10 - Wrapped in Leather

Welcome to week 10 of Tease Me Thursday ! When it's not quite Friday, and you're feeling like some fun from your favorite authors and authors you haven't met yet. Come on in, have a seat, and most of all... have fun! For this hop you post 7 paragraphs or 7 sentences or 7 words. It can be from a WIP or something published. For this week, I thought I’d do something fromWrapped in Leather.

~Excerpt: Jase caught the waiter’s eye and motioned him over. “Okay, we’re both driving, so no more drinking. But—”“Is there something else, sir?” the waiter asked. “Dessert, maybe?”“Yeah, bring us that big, gooey chocolate cake thing with the ice cream and the white stuff on the top,” Jase said. “Bring coffee with it. Add it, and his meal, to my bill.”Toshi’s eyes followed the waiter as he walked away, a shy smile teasing his lips. “Jase, you didn’t have to do that, really. But thank you.”Jase shifted in the booth, trying to find a comfortable position to accommodate the swelling in his jeans. He couldn’t remember the last time he’d been this affected by a simple smile. But damn, Toshi had a nice smile. Jase noticed the button-up shirt Toshi wore was open at the throat, and what little of his chest he could see looked to be smooth.Jase’s dick swelled more as he imagined that smooth chest lying bare before him, and that blush of his, dear God. When he blushed, it was all Jase could do not to pull Toshi up on the table, pull his jeans off, tie those slim legs open and have him for dessert. He’d look good covered in chocolate, some cream of Jase’s making, and Toshi could supply the… ah, nuts.Jesus.
