Book Name: Bound For Trouble
Author Name: EM Lynley
Author Bio: ABOUT EM LYNLEY
EM Lynley, a Rainbow Award winner and EPPIE finalist, has worked in high finance, high tech, and in the wine industry, though she'd rather be writing hot, romantic man-on-man action. She spent 10 years as an economist and financial analyst, including a year as a White House Staff Economist, but only because all the intern positions were filled. Tired of boring herself and others with dry business reports and articles, her creative muse is back and naughtier than ever. She has lived and worked in London, Tokyo and Washington, D.C., but the San Francisco Bay Area is home for now.
She is the author of Sex, Lies & Wedding Bells, the Precious Gems series from Dreamspinner Press, and the Rewriting History series starring a sexy jewel thief, among others.

Blurb(s): Daniel “Deke” Kane is a broken man, facing the end of his career in the FBI. He’s on desk duty after a botched drug raid left the suspects and two children dead. He’s got one chance to prove himself, or the only thing he’ll be investigating is the Help Wanted ads. Ryan Griffiths has been on the run for ten years. Forced onto the streets when his father kicked him out, Ryan earns his living in other men’s beds. Finding his john dead in a hotel room drives him under the radar until a favorite client gives him a chance at a safe, clean life. But Ryan’s relatively stable new world shatters when Deke Kane catches up with him.
When Deke’s tasked to take down a drug dealer with terrorist ties and a taste for the dark side of BDSM, his only chance to get close is the suspect’s interest in Ryan, and he convinces Ryan to become a confidential informant. In return, Deke offers Ryan immunity from his past. As Ryan falls under the drug lord’s domination, Deke finds himself falling for Ryan.
Excerpt:“With Petrov training me, I’ll be at his place more. That’s what you wanted, right?” Ryan glanced at Deke.
“But not at this expense.”
“You should find a way to punish me.” Ryan grinned.
“I can’t exactly spank you now, can I?”
“How about a blowjob?”
“How is that a punishment?”
Ryan shrugged. “It depends how big your dick is.” He reached a hand out, and Deke caught it, smiling.
“Do you ever stop?”
“Do you ever relax?”
Deke stared at Ryan. “Sure.”
“No, you don’t. I don’t think you can. You’re always planning something or analyzing the results of your plan, or worrying about when the plan will work. A blowjob is something you don’t have to plan. Something you can just enjoy. Not something you need to do, or something you think you’re supposed to do. And not for someone else. Just for you.”
Ryan knelt down between Deke’s knees.
Deke put his hands on Ryan’s shoulders, stopping him from moving. “Yes, I can do something just because I want to.” He pulled Ryan in close and pressed his mouth to Ryan’s.

But the aspect that most fascinates me is the psychological one.Just dipping a toe (or other body part) into this world requires an open mind and a lot of curiosity. It’s a little scary discovering that you’re turned on by things you never imagined could be sexy. There is a period of getting over that initial shock and letting yourself go, quieting all the judgmental thoughts and preconceived notions about what’s “bad” and what’s “oh-my-god downright wicked.” There’s the “I hope my mother never reads this!” and the “hey, I want to try this” phase too.In that first BDSM story and in my new novel Bound for Trouble, I take a deeper look at the psychological aspects of kink. My FBI agent Deke Kane is a vanilla guy. He’s happy with that. When he gets plunged into the BDSM world at Dungeon 69 in order to track down a drug dealer, he’s confronted by so many new experiences he’s confused and a little scared. He can’t understand why he finds the activities such a turn on. The other main character, the confidential informant Ryan Griffiths is a rent boy who becomes a sub-for-hire in this story. He’s never had a trick who was really into kink. But he’s open to anything. He also falls under the spell, and for a while he has trouble separating out his loyalty to the FBI job he’s doing and the powerful Dom who’s training him (the bad guy, drug dealer). Both these men have powerful psychological reactions to getting involved in the world of BDSM and they both find they want to delve more deeply for reasons they can’t understand. And it is a powerful world. The whole process of giving yourself up to another person’s control even for a short period of time, putting absolute trust in someone, takes such a huge psychological leap of faith. Why does pain feel good and get Ryan aroused?Why does he want to please his Dom so badly? Why does he want to push his personal limits in order to help Deke take down the drug dealer?Why does Deke, a straight-laced FBI agent, get so turned on when he has to spank the Ryan, the CI, to keep their cover? Will this change who he is and what he wants sexually? Deke’s as scared as he is intrigued by his attraction to D/s play and to Ryan, who’s the opposite of the kind of man he thinks he belongs with.These are some of the same questions I have about my own fascination with the world of kink, and resolving those questions offers a lot of fun opportunities, for both me and my characters. I hope you’ll find the exploration to be fun, engaging and maybe even an inspiration.

The Manic Monday REVIEW
Bound for Troubleby E.M. Lynley3.75-4 Stars
Special Agent Deke Kane messed up. Big time. A drug raid he headed ends with the suspects and two children dead. Stuck on desk duty now, and haunted with nightmares, he’s given a chance to salvage his career. All he has to do take down a drug dealer named Petrov.Ryan Griffiths is an ex-rent boy with a possible murder rap hanging over his head. He’s trying to straighten up his life, but the FBI has other plans. Ryan becomes a confidential informant and, in return, he’s granted immunity from his past. Ryan finds himself in the middle of their sting to trap Petrov, who just happens to be involved in BDSM. Even as Ryan falls for Petrov, he is also fighting his attraction to Deke.This is a combination of arm/drug dealings, FBI investigations, and BDSM. There’s intrigue, murder, and suspense. Will the FBI trap Petrov? And at what cost to both Deke and Ryan? Ryan goes undercover to attract Petrov’s attention at this BDSM club. Deke is there also, undercover as an interested party who wants to learn about the lifestyle. As the story moves on, Ryan and Deke’s attraction blooms, but Ryan has done what was asked of him and attracted Petrov. Deke has to watch as Ryan serve as a sub to other men, then finally Petrov. Things get to be… intense.I read this for the BDSM aspect, I admit, lol. I’m not so much into that FBI sting. Not my cup of tea, but it was well-written. I felt for both Ryan and Deke. Got annoyed with the stupid bureaucracy of our damn government. Much of the book is spent with Deke watching Ryan and Petrov in various sexual acts. There’s lot of BDSM action that goes on in the club. Deke learns how to be a Dom and Ryan leans what it means to be submissive. The scenes are hot, very much so, and I really enjoyed them. Even the ones where Ryan served Petrov, but it did kind of bother me how Ryan was torn in his feelings. I mean, Petrov is a serious baddie. You just know no matter how sweet and loving he appears toward Ryan, things are blowing up. Serious baddie, remember? Ryan is playing a dangerous game. And through all this, the FBI investigation is on-going. There were places that lagged, at least to me. But, there’s excellent plot twists and well… Baddies involved, lol. Blood will be shed. Terror unfolds. Shit hits the fan. I thought I had some things figured out, and I was wrong! Definitely a book that’s worth reading if you like FBI stories and murder mystery. BDSM factors heavily in this because so much takes place in the club, but the action is secondary. So if you’re looking for pure BDSM action, this isn’t it. I’m not sure I’d even call this a romance. Maybe… the beginning of a romance between Ryan and Deke?
I’d love to see a book about the D/s part of their relationship at some point. J~M

Reversion of rights for The Harvest
Hey everyone. I wanted to let the fans of The Harvest series know that Storm Moon Press is returning my rights for The Harvest: Taken effective Friday, August 15th, 2014 at 11:59pm EST. The book will no longer be for sale, and already has been taken down most places. So, now what, you ask? Well, I’m not sure. I’m leaning toward self-pubbing it. SMP returned the cover, but I may get a new one made. I am definitely changing some things in book one. Not a lot, but some. The story won’t change. I’ve heard there were several editing mistakes in the book, so I’m going to have those cleaned up too.
This means book two may not be out in October, as originally planned. It still has to be edited and needs a cover. The thing is 90K, so that takes time. On top of that, I’m on a deadline for To Touch the Sky for Dreamspinner, so nothing is getting done until after Sept 17th. Also, the Christmas story may not be out for December.
Sorry, guys. I hate that this has thrown off the release of book two. I know some of you were waiting on pins and needles. It *will* be out, but that’s all I can tell you for now.
I know some of you hard-core fans of the series will ask why. Please, please don’t. I can’t talk about it. Let’s just say SMP and I have agreed to part ways and leave it at th

Book Name: Ordinary People
Author Name: E E Montgomery
Author Bio: E E Montgomery wants the world to be a better place, with equality and acceptance for all. Her philosophy is: We can’t change the world but we can change our small part of it and, in that way, influence the whole. Writing stories that show people finding their own ‘better place’ is part of E E Montgomery’s own small contribution.
Thankfully, there’s never a shortage of inspiration for stories that show people growing in their acceptance and love of themselves and others. Blurb(s): When Queensland Police Force Constable James Laramee raids a hotel room, he finds Vinnie Canterbury on top of a naked, dead man, covered in blood. Vinnie promptly vomits all over James’s shoes.Thanks to a cocktail of horse sedatives and Hendra vaccine, Vinnie’s memories of his ordeal are fractured. Finding the culprits and the reasons behind his abduction will be a challenge. With his apartment trashed, his building set on fire, and his clothes, phone and wallet gone, Vinnie needs a place to stay. To his surprise, James not only takes him in, but also lets him cry on his shoulder. It must be true love. Vinnie has plans for his future with James all mapped out, and he hopes he can get James on the same page.
Excerpt: His bed was stripped to the mattress. The shredded mattress. Foam stuffing bubbled up between the slashes like pus weeping from an infected wound. He tore his attention from the bed to find his sheets and duvet scattered all over the floor. In pieces. He whimpered.
“I just bought that set.” He pressed his fingers against his lips. Even in his shock he recognized the inanity of his comment. His gaze was drawn to the freestanding full-length mirror beside the windows. Black writing marred the polished surface.
NEXT TIME DO WHAT YOU’RE TOLD FAG OR THE SAME WILL HAPPEN TO YOU.He turned to see Laramee beside him, his hand again clamped on Vinnie’s arm. “What was I told?” he whispered. “I don’t know what I was told.”
It was too much. He flung himself at Laramee, buried his face in the warm, slightly harsh fabric of his uniform, ignored the button digging into his forehead, and burst into tears.
“I don’t even know your name. I can’t sob all over you if I don’t know your name,” he wailed.

E E MONTGOMERYJune 2014
1. What advice would you give a new writer just starting out?
Two things: never stop learning, never give up. Even when what you’ve written seems like it’s the best it can be, there’ll always be something to improve, either with this one or the next. So keep learning your craft, re-learn things you’ve done before. You never know it all. Sometimes, something you write will be perfect; sometimes it will be absolute dreck. Shit happens; don’t assume it means you can’t write. Rewrite it, write something else, work out why it didn’t work and fix it. If writing is your passion, don’t ever give up.
2. Do you ever suffer from writer’s block? If so, what do you do about it?
I’m not sure if I’d call it writer’s block or something else. There are times I don’t know where to take a story, I can’t work out how to edit the stories I have finished; my head is totally empty of new ideas. Sometimes these times last for days or weeks, sometimes longer. What I do about it: I worry. I stare into space. I worry some more. I go for a walk and worry while I walk. Eventually, I sleep—for a long time. That usually works.
3. Do you write in multiple genres or just one? If just one, do you ever consider straying outside your genre?
Definitely multiple genres. My published works are all contemporary, some with a small element of mystery. I also write Science Fiction but I’m not happy enough with the editing of those stories to have sent them out yet. A couple are getting really close to publishable, so it’ll happen soon.
4. What is the hardest part about writing for you?
Editing. That’s where I have to check that the overall structure works, that everything everyone does makes sense for their character, that the plot elements interweave properly and are interesting, that I’m showing and not telling, that I’m writing actively and not passively… the list goes on. Anything that doesn’t work has to be changed. Sometimes the changes are minor, sometimes major. There are so many things whirling around in my head, I can’t keep track of it all, and even though I write it all down, I still miss bits. Some days it does my head in and I have to walk away from it. Other days, I get into a groove and resent every interruption.
While I prefer to just make stuff up and write it down—that’s the fun bit—I know editing makes my work stronger, so I persevere. Ordinary People began life as a 3000 word short story. For a long time I couldn’t work out why it didn’t feel right. Then I started looking for the gaps in the narrative.
My most recent WIP has taken a lot of time to get right. I ended up having to completely remove one plot thread, change two characters’ roles and combine another two characters into one character. I also had to remove one character’s point of view scenes and write new ones from another character’s point of view. Those things in themselves are doable, but it became complicated when I kept coming across things in the plot lines I was keeping that had been impacted by the one that no longer existed. Removing the character left a gap in pace and dialogue that I had to work out how to fill, and combining two characters meant I had to change all the physical descriptions and dialogue so it all matched the new character. Some actions had to be attributed to another character for it to make sense. The process got easier the deeper I delved into it. The hardest part was deciding how to make it work and then starting.
5. Tell us something about your newest release that is NOT in the blurb.
Vinnie’s father was a dick. He tried to make Vinnie conform to what he thought was the norm. Three-year-old Vinnie couldn’t understand why his father was always angry with him. Thank goodness his great-grandmother showed him it was okay to be himself.
6. Do you use a pen name? If so, how did you come up with it?
My pseudonym is a conglomeration of a number of things that have meaning for me. I love science fiction and one of my favorite authors when I was growing up was E.E. (Doc) Smith. Smith was considered the father of science fiction. He was no longer writing when I was a child but my father had all his books. Isaac Asimov is actually my favorite SF author and I considered have Isaac as a surname, but I have family with that name so it wouldn’t work. The Montgomery came from two places: Star Trek (adore Scotty), and Bewitched (adore Elizabeth Montgomery).
7. How do you keep your writing different from all the others that write in this particular genre?
I’ve been told often by other writers that I have an incredible imagination. I’m constantly asking ‘what if’, even when I’m just walking down the street and watching cars cross through an intersection. I don’t have a lot of limits in my imagination. To me, anything is possible. Once I think of something, I then have to find if something like that could actually be possible. If it’s not, according to the laws of physics, I’ll write it in a way that makes it possible, or adapt the idea to something workable.
8. What is the most surprising thing you discovered while writing your book(s)?
A while ago, I was doing research for a planet I was building. I wanted a way for them to have space travel without raping the planet of its resources to achieve it. I started looking at the earth’s magnetic field. I have no scientific background at all, so I have to talk to people who do. I rang a friend who was a scientist to ask him how strong the magnetic field was and would it be strong enough that we could harness that energy to launch space shuttles and land them again, without damaging the planet either short term or long term. To my surprise he said there was already some research into landing shuttles using the magnetic field. We talked for ages and at the end of the conversation, he said I’d given him some ideas for where the research could go next. How cool is that?
9. How do you do research for your books?
The internet is my friend. Google is my best friend. Books are my soul mates. I’m a librarian with access to a home library, a library at work, associated libraries, and extensive databases. These things make up about 90% of my research. I also have friends who are pharmacists and nurses and I’m absolutely positive the local police snicker every time they see me walk in the door (they’re very kind and helpful).
10. Are you a plotter or a pantser?
I’m a panster but I’m trying to learn how to plot better in an effort to reduce the amount of editing I have to do (see no 4 above). I’m trying to find a balance between the two that works for me. My problem is twofold.
Firstly, if I know how the story is going to end, I lose interest in writing it. One of the major reasons I write is to find out what happens. If I already know what happens, why write it?
Secondly, my characters develop as I write them. I begin with a character profile but I’m still learning about their personalities and idiosyncrasies as I write the book. That means there will come a time, in every book, where the plot takes an exciting left turn because of something a character has said or done and anything I’ve planned goes right out the window. The story is usually better for it so I go with the flow, totally enjoying this new journey, while in the back of my head, I’m screaming “more editing, you fool”.

Welcome to Tease Me Thursday - Shadows in the Night
Welcome to Tease Me Thursday ! When it's not quite Friday, and you're feeling like some fun from your favorite authors and authors you haven't met yet. Come on in, have a seat, and most of all... have fun! For this hop you post 7 paragraphs or 7 sentences or 7 words. It can be from a WIP or something published.For this week, I thought I’d do something from Shadows in the Night.
THE black cougar pulled the blanket to mid-hip. Chip’s chest was still bare, but hey, he had to get his kicks somehow. Ugh, raw steak. Stereotypical response. See what looks like a wild animal and offer it raw, bloody meat. I prefer mine medium-well, Chip.He made another loop around the living area. As far as he could tell, things had calmed down outside and the other shifter was gone. The appearance of a new cougar worried him. He knew who all the shifters were in town, and this one, he didn’t recognize. There was something about its scent too—he smelled off. Wrong. He had made eye contact when they fought and there was nothing, no humanity in the other cougar’s eyes. All of his kind retained their morals while in spirit form. Whoever this was had targeted Chip, and that was a mistake. Messing with a shifter’s mate not only could result in death, but usually did. His kind tended to be… possessive.He glanced back at Chip. His human was snoring. All the excitement must have worn him out.And what the hell is up with the “boy” nickname all of a sudden? Do I look like a boy? We’ll see who the “boy” is when I get your ass in bed and you’re under me screaming my name. Frankly, I don’t think I can afford to wait much longer, with the appearance of that other shifter. Of course, you need to know whose name to yell. First thing tomorrow, I plan to remedy that, thanks to the Other. Just wish it didn’t have to be done like this.He’d taken to calling the new shifter Other simply because he didn’t know who he was. Hours passed, and the night sky lightened as daybreak approached. He decided it was safe for him to leave. There had been no sign of the new shifter for hours.Should I wake him? Ah well, where’s the fun in that? Time to make a point, I think. One that he can’t ignore. Might as well, because come tomorrow, he’s going to have to deal with the fact things aren’t what they seem around here.

To Touch the Sky # 4.2
“What is going on with you? I can smell your arousal.” Manny sniffed quietly. Since Manny was a shifter, that wasn’t a surprise. “I don’t know, but it doesn’t matter. Worry about those jackasses first.”By the spirits, he was harder than a buffalo skull. The animal inside him let out a blood-curling call of want. Neverin all his life had he felt such pulse-pounding desire. His entire being ached with need—the need to claim. Claim what was his, his… mate. “Awww, shit.” There in the middle of the chaos holding a pool cue was the cutest, sweetest twink he’d ever seen—a blond-haired, brown-eyed male, and that wonderful smell came from him. Hawk staggered to a halt in the middle of the shouting. The man who haunted his dreams for hundreds of years stood before him. “Oh, fucking hell, no! No, no, no! Dammit.” For a second, Hawk debated turning around and running—yes, running—in the opposite direction.“Hawk?” Manny called out. “Shit, man! Look out!”The jock swung his fist, and the little blond made a slight whimper that only those who were shifters could probably have heard, and that was that. Wha-tay snapped her jaw shut on the back of his neck, and he was a goner. No one was going to hurt his mate, certainly not while he was standing right there. His hand came up and caught the fist that came flying at the little blonde, and Hawk squeezed, hard. He watched the jock freeze. Did the human know just how close he was to death? Of the danger he was in? Hawk could slit his throat with one simple move and not even flinch. He’d bathed in blood before. He could do it again. Manny, and several other employees, flanked Hawk as he and the jock stared at each other.“Hawk? Hawk, don’t. Think of where you are, man.” Manny carefully stepped closer to Hawk.“I know, Manny.” Hawk saw the jock finally flinch, and he managed to pull his totem spirit back. That flinch was what he’d been waiting for. “This is my bar, and what I say goes. Gays are welcome here.” Hawk voice was low, the threat clear. “Walk out of here while you still can.” Hawk leaned closer. “Otherwise, I’m going to hurt you and enjoy every second of it.” For a second, his eyes flashed bright gold. “You… you… What the fuck was that?” The jock reared back, holding his hand, his eyes wide. “What was what?” Hawk grinned, the smile sharp and feral, his eyes normal. The rank taint of fear teased his nose. “I think you’ve had too much to drink, man. Better get out of here before I call the cops. Now move.”The power behind that one word echoed across the room. A rush of feet, the sickly smell of fear receded, and the jocks were gone. Taking a deep breath, Hawk turned to face the other man, the one who was his mate. He was exactly as he remembered. His hands itched to feel that soft-looking blond hair slide through his fingers. Visions of bare flesh spread out before him: of needy brown eyes staring up at him, of long, lean legs open in invitation, a tight pink hole that called to him, of a cock hard against a taut stomach…. Hawk’s need sank its claws into him. His gaze narrowed down to the pulse fluttering wildly in his mate’s neck. He wanted to suck the skin until it darkened, then gently run his talons over that vein, opening it enough so he could fasten his lips there and taste his mate’s blood. The desire to slam his cock deep inside and fuck his mate until the guy called his name brokenly shrieked inside him. Then he was going to tie his mate’s ankles to his wrists and fuck him again, pounding down into him while staring into those endless brown eyes. Once they were sated, he’d hunt. He’d bring back food, feed his mate. Show the other man he was worthy as a protector. He’d….“Hawk? Um, hello? Come on, man.” The worry in Manny’s voice finally snapped Hawk back to the present. “Hawk? Are you okay?”Hawk blinked, shaking his head slightly, as if to throw off memories. He glanced at Manny. “Ah, yeah. I’m fine, Manny. Shit.” He blew out a breath and rubbed at his eyes. How long had he stood there, staring at the other man in a daze?The cute blond worried his plump bottom lip with his teeth as he stared back at Hawk. “Dude, are you…. I don’t know, having a seizure or something? Maybe you should sit down, or... or something.” What Hawk wouldn’t give to see those lips stretched open by a ball gag. Oh spirits, Hawk, get your head out of your kinky ass and, oh I don’t know… maybe speak? He’s going to think there’s something wrong with us. You can fantasize about his ass, and all you want to do to it, later.Hawk flinched as he mentally cussed his totem. “Ah, I’m fine. I just… You look familiar and it, ah, caught me off guard. Sorry about that.” Hawk ran his hands through his hair, barely resisting the urge to yank. “My name is Gus Hawkins, but I go by Hawk. I own this bar. I wanted to say how sorry I am that happened. Book Name: Midnight Rodeo: Homecoming
Author Name: Kiernan Kelly, Julia Talbot, BA Tortuga
Author Bios:
BA Tortuga:
Texan to the bone and an unrepentant Daddy's Girl, BA Tortuga spends her days with her basset hounds, getting tattooed, texting her sisters, and eating Mexican food. When she's not doing that, she's writing. She spends her days off watching rodeo, knitting and surfing porn sites in the name of research. BA's personal saviors include her wife, Julia Talbot, her best friend, Sean Michael, and coffee. Lots of coffee. Really good coffee.
Having written everything from fist-fighting rednecks to hard-core cowboys to werewolves, BA does her damnedest to tell the stories of her heart, which was raised in Northeast Texas, but has answered the call of the high desert mountains. With books ranging from hard-hitting GLBT romance, to fiery menages, to the most traditional of love stories, BA refuses to be pigeon-holed by anyone but the voices in her head.

Kiernan Kelly:
Kiernan Kelly lives in the wilds of the alligator-infested U.S. Southeast, slathered in SPF 45, drinking colorful tropical, hi-octane concoctions served by thong-clad cabana boys.
All right, the truth is that she spends her time locked in the dark recesses of her office, writing gay erotic romance while chained to a temperamental laptop, drinking coffee, and dreaming of thong-clad cabana boys.
Sigh.
To date, Kiernan has over a dozen novels in print and ebook, and a plethora of short stories in both formats.

Blurb(s):
What happens when rodeos start to get too tough for humans to compete in? Midnight Rodeo, of course, where supernatural creatures like shifters and vampires work for the prize money, and for the awe of their audience.
In Welcome to the Pack by BA Tortuga, when head bullfighter Denton is killed by a demon bull, his twin, Denver, comes back to take his place. Denver was gone for years, working mundane rodeos and missing his twin. He’s not sure the pack can heal him since the other bullfighters challenge Denver at every turn. All except Blaine, who’s an outcast himself, and who knows Denver is like no one he’s ever met.
In Oklahoma Rain by Kiernan Kelly, psychic Blaze scouts locations for the rodeo company, Darque and Knight, where he finds another psychic talent, Zack, who’s as hot as the Fourth of July. Zack is complicated, though, thanks to his sidekick, Mikey, a damaged kid. Blaze invites the pair back to the rodeo, but not everyone is as happy as Blaze to have them there.
In Big Bear, Little Bear, by Julia Talbot, bear shifter Ben is returning to the rodeo after a long injury recovery. Big bear shifter Ozzie is the barrel man and clown, and he’s been waiting for Ben to come back to the big show. But is Ben ready to ride again, let alone be the lover Ozzie is ready to take on?
Excerpt:
Denver was-- wow.
Denton had been stunning, making Blaine stare a lot. A lot. Still, Dent had been off-limits, and he’d bet Denver was, too. No one could be that hot and be like Blaine.
He was the weird one, the one brought into the pack by a she-wolf who had already had a single pup. Blaine figured he was lucky no one had killed him when he was a kid.
Everyone else was broad and wide, shaggy headed with eyes like green glass. All of them came from the same line. Denver was the spitting image of Denton, really. A little harder around the edges, a little more wild. A shit ton more bruised.
The guys had been taking turns. Two a night, just like clockwork, they’d come and challenge Denver. One at midnight, one at three a.m. Greg and Vince went, then Carter and Caul, and finally Hank and Mike. Boom.
He supposed Denver was waiting for him, now. Blaine sighed. He had no intention of trying to take the pack. God, the very idea made his head hurt.
The real question was, were they going to just start over, or was Denver going to get a night off, a chance to sleep before they settled in town for tonight’s show?

And now... The REVIEW-
Midnight Rodeo: Homecomingby Kiernan Kelly, Julia Talbot and BA TortugaRating: 4.5 stars
OMG, what a totally awesome concept. The idea of combining the cowboy/rodeo and the paranormal is brilliant. The paranormal aspect caught my attention, I’ll admit.This is an anthology, and all three stories take place at the Darque and Knight rodeo. Remember that paranormal aspect? Well, this rodeo is run by all paranormals. It’s owned by a vamp and a demon. And speaking of demons, the bulls have demons inside them. Talk about mean buggers.
The Manic Monday REVIEW:
Story #1 is Welcome to the Pack by BA Tortuga. In this, the Alpha, Denton, was killed by a demon bull. His twin, Denver, has returned to take over the Pack. Things are not rosy. Actually, there are probably more thorns than petals in the beginning, lol. Denver is repeatedly challenged by other bullfighters in the pack for the Alpha position. Two come at night, every night. One around midnight, and another around three a.m. Denver is getting tired, and he’s also grieving for his twin. The same twin he hadn’t seen for a long time. Tensions are high. Then there is Blaine, an outcast himself. Things get interesting quick.This is a great opening story. It introduces the concept of the anthology, and the readers meet all different kinds of paranormals. Each story sets up the next one, and main characters show up in the other stories.
Story #2 is Oklahoma Rain by Kiernan Kelly.Blaze is part of the rodeo, but some of the others treat him differently. Why? Blaze is a paranormal, but his gift isn’t noticeable. He looks like a “mundane” (human). Blaze’s job is to place spells that keep the humans from seeing the supernatural parts of the rodeo. Very important lol! But there are those who harass Blaze because he looks human.While traveling ahead to spell the next location for the rodeo, Blaze meets Zach and Mikey, an adult and child squatting where the rodeo is planned to be set up. Zach is telekinetic, and Mikey is a human child. And humans aren’t welcome. Blaze is interested in Zach. He manages to talk the owners into letting the pair stay. But things aren’t safe for the child. A threat is hiding in the dark, just waiting to attack.
Story #3 is Big Bear, Little Bear, by Julia Talbot.Title say it all lol! There are bear shifters. Ben is part of the rodeo family, but he was grievously injured. He nearly died, and is now on the road to recovery. But… not all is going well with that recovery. There’s a problem he’s hiding, but he has to, in order to be cleared to ride again. What he’s hiding is serious, and it got to me. This one was the tearjerker of the three, and an excellent way to end the anthology. I just… Poor little bear, you just want to hug him up. These two are so cute in their bearness, lol. There’s a lot of eating, talking about salmon, lol, and eating. And I’m talking food here, by the way. *wink*If you like cowboys and you like paranormal stories, you can’t go wrong with this. I loved every minute of it lol.~M

To Touch the Sky Chapter FourHawk scanned the bar, ready to crawl out of his skin. It was packed and the band was rocking. His staff handled the crush of people smoothly and professionally. The usual predators, both male and female, were on the prowl looking for a hook-up. They’d even tried their luck with him a time or two tonight. Little did the humans know he was the biggest predator there. He snorted. Some predator he was. He was so tightly wound he’d probably faint if someone yelled ‘boo.’ His totem spirit was right; there was something in the air tonight.His gaze roamed over the packed bar while he sipped his soda. Business was good tonight, so he couldn’t put his finger on why he was so rattled. Plus, there was this scent that occasionally teased his nose. It made his mouth water. Could it be someone’s cologne? But that didn’t make sense. Shifters hated artificial scents. Were they trying something new out in the kitchen? Was a candle burning somewhere? Whatever is was, he wanted roll around in the smell. He dragged his attention back to the bar. Well, on the upside, no one had acted like a fool and needed to be escorted out. Yet. Although, there were a couple of jocks playing darts he kept an eye on. They’d been drinking, but that wasn’t the problem. It was their manner. The men were big, buff, and had the attitude of a wolverine—just flat out nasty. They’d hit on a couple of ladies and been shut down. Nothing bad had happened, but Hawk had a feeling that was about to change. Maybe that was why he was so jittery. The more hours passed, the tenser he became. If he had to, he’d escort the gentlemen out—one way or the other. While the jocks were tall and muscular, Hawk wasn’t worried. He might only be of average height, but he had something the men around him didn’t have—experience. The thin layer of civilization that covered him was nothing more than a sham. Under that disguise he was a battle proven warrior. He knew how to fight—his muscles weren’t for show. Add in the superior strength and quickness of his totem spirit, and he could take any human—even big, muscular blond jocks. “Fucking fags.” Hawk’s sensitive hearing picked up the disgusting phase and he sighed silently. His attention snapped back to the troublemakers. His body tensed. Maybe this was why he’d been so damn jittery. Suddenly the blonde jock stood up, his face a mask of anger. A cold wash of power flooded Hawk’s system. He jumped from the booth where he sat, calming catching the eye of his bouncer, Manny, as he moved to where the pool tables and dartboards were located. A foot from the aggressors, he suddenly he stumbled over his feet, his balance shot to hell as the scent of Nutmeg and Vanilla enveloped him. Hawk filled his lungs as he took a deep breath. Oh, that was so good, so fucking good. Warmth spread through him. Every muscle in his body strained, his heart galloped, and his breathing sawed in and out of his lungs. Frantically, he looked around. Where was that coming from?“You okay, Hawk?” Manny asked next to him.“Ah, yeah. Sure.” Hawk shook his head, trying to focus on Manny. He heard the concern in Manny’s voice. Problem was, he was not anywhere near okay. What was happening? “Come on, we better get over there.” Sweat broke out over his body as they moved toward the commotion. He was hard as a rock and fighting for control. He reached down and adjusted his cock. This hadn’t happened before. A good battle got the blood pumping, and got him hard, but not like this. It was all he could do to keep his eyes from changing to the golden bronze of his totem. The urge to hunt, to stalk the bar, flooded him. There was a pounding in his head, as if some maniac was banging a drum in his noggin. His was lightheaded, possibly from all the blood rushing south.“What is going on with you? I can smell your arousal.” Manny sniffed quietly. Since Manny was a shifter, that wasn’t a surprise. “I don’t know, but it doesn’t matter. Worry about those jackasses first.”

BLURB:
INCUBUS: Nathan only ever wanted a normal life, but for him, life, family, and love are anything but normal.On the other side of the Veil, dark and light fae exist outside the knowledge of most humans. Nathan Grier was born human, but his twin brother Jim is a changeling. On the run since they were children, time for both of them is running out. Turning to fae hunter Sasha Kelly for help, Nathan must soon face his growing feelings for the other man while trying to save himself and his brother from a fate worse than death.
CHANGELING: Nathan Grier’s dark fae bounty looms overhead. As he faces the very real threat of becoming a slave to the bounty’s owner, his brother Jim uses his changeling abilities more and more trying to save him. Every changeling throughout history turns evil once their powers manifest, meaning time may be running out for both of them as Jim nears True Awakening.Fae hunter and incubus, Sasha Kelly, is prophesized to save Nathan, but while Nathan has embraced his feelings for the other man, he fears their time together will be cut short—either from his impending fate…or Jim’s.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
EXCERPTS:
Changeling
Nathan Grier was exhausted, his body drained entirely of energy from his days spent recovering from an unfortunate shotgun blast to the chest. Sleep was a welcome friend as of late—well, some of the time. A part of Nathan feared the drooping of his eyes and what might be waiting for him in the darkness. But he needed rest. Craved it. The comfort and warmth of the bed beneath him. The quiet of a room that wasn’t in the hospital. The gentle touch of Sasha’s fingers trailing up his thigh.
Nathan sighed. His thoughts were vague, hazy. He was definitely in a bed, in a quiet room, but he wasn’t surrounded by the comfort of covers; he was lying naked on top of them, displayed for Sasha to see. Nathan knew the hand caressing up his side belonged to Sasha Kelly—of course it did. He knew the soft skin of the incubus too well after their night together to imagine it was anyone else.
It had been a week since their run-in with Gabriel, the sealgaire who had murdered Nathan’s parents—and who had turned out, in the end, to be family. Nathan hadn't told his brother, Jim, about Gabriel being their uncle, and he hoped he never had to.
Incubus Excerpt:
Nathan Grier hit the ground hard on his hands and knees, gasping for breath. Traveling through the Veil with Jim had always been so effortless. Nathan had forgotten how much his brother’s presence protected him. Without Jim, even a brief trip just hurt everywhere. Pushing up from the ground and sitting back on his heels, Nathan gulped down air to steady his pulse. He looked around quickly, taking in the dark landscape. It was still night but there was light steadily growing on the horizon. He did not have much time. Nathan struggled to his feet and took a few pained steps forward to the edge of the cliff. Below was St. Brides Bay, empty of divers and kayaks at this early hour. Normally, Nathan would be able to clearly see the lush green hills, steep drop-offs, and spattering of flowers that had not yet died with the growing autumn cold, but for now the world was covered in darkness.
He pulled his jacket more tightly around him, swallowing hard as he peered down the long expanse to the beach below. The wind was whipping harshly through his short black hair as if it desired nothing more than to see him blown right over the edge. Turning back to the Veil doorway he had come from, Nathan saw that it was no longer visible, though he knew it was still there. He had crossed the ocean in search of a Power Point strong enough to summon a Messenger. The doorway was where the Messenger would appear.
The Manic Monday REVIEW 5 stars on both books!
Incubus (The Incubus Saga, #1)
Holy cow. I’m not going to go into this too much because I don’t want to give stuff away. Just let me say holy cow. I’m a fan of scifi and fantasy for a reason: the world building. Let me tell you now the world building is exceptional. Then throw in fae myths and legends, and I’m good to go. Oh, don’t forget twists and turns!
Too many times stories in the genre can turn into info dumps, but thank God that didn’t happen. Nathan and Jim Grier face danger over and over. They are twins, but you see, there is a twist. Remember the twist thing I mentioned, lol? Nathan is human and Jim is a changeling. As Jim comes into his powers, he’s in danger. Nathan is willing to do anything to save his brother. Of course they have to be careful who they trust, and the action is non-stop.
Seriously, you can’t go wrong with this book.
Changeling (The Incubus Saga #2)
OMG, just buy the book, lol. If you liked book #1, you’ll love book #2. In this, we see the characters grow closer. We are drawn deeper into the world of fae and monsters the author created. Desires are realized and barriers are broken. Again, I’m not going to go into this too much because I don’t want to spoil the plot. And what a plot.
Oh, there is a book #3 lol! ;) And ohhhh... those are some of the coolest covers I've seen in a while. I loved these, can you tell?
Pride Promotions Presents Blue Collar by Sean Michael and a Giveaway
Book Name: Blue Collar
Author Name: Sean Michael
Author Bio:Often referred to as "Space Cowboy" and "Gangsta of Love" while still striving for the moniker of "Maurice," Sean Michael spends his days surfing, smutting, organizing his immense gourd collection and fantasizing about one day retiring on a small secluded island peopled entirely by horseshoe crabs. While collecting vast amounts of vintage gay pulp novels and mood rings, Sean whiles away the hours between dropping the f-bomb and pursuing the kama sutra by channeling the long lost spirit of John Wayne and singing along with the soundtrack to "Chicago".
A long-time writer of complicated haiku, currently Sean is attempting to learn the advanced arts of plate spinning and soap carving sex toys.
Barring any of that? He'll stick with writing his stories, thanks, and rubbing pretty bodies together to see if they spark.
Blurb(s):
Kendall Webber is deep in the closet. Between working in a garage, having been in the army and a fundamentalist preacher step-father who sent him to summer camps to make him straight, he’s learned to hide his sexuality from absolutely everyone.
Still, when Barton Willis the Third roars into the garage with his Mustang, Kendall can’t help but look, just a little. When Barton not only looks back but invites him in, Kendall’s whole world is turned upside down.
Can Barton help Kendall let go of the past and the attitudes he’s had, literally, beaten into him?
Excerpt:“Are you wanting factory original or an upgrade to a catback?”One dark eyebrow rose. “Which’ll make it run better?”“Well, it depends. The cats give a great sound, but the Borlas? They’re loud and I love the look from the rear. It’s a matter of money and taste and sound.” Kendall headed to the office, rambling on about all the different types and prices and options.“I like a good-looking rear,” the guy told him when he’d done talking.“Then you might consider the Borlas. It’s a little pricey, but fine. This is my boss, Pete. He’ll hook you up.”“Oh, I’d rather you hook me up.”Was that as suggestive as it sounded?“I… Okay. Okay, I can help.” He’d done a few custom orders, but Pete would have to approve everything.The man held out his hand. “Barton Willis, the Third.”“Kendall. Pleased.” He held out his hand, then pulled it back. He was a grease monkey after all. “I’ve been working, man.”“I imagine I can wash my hands.”“Yeah, I tell myself that a lot, but the grime’s pretty deep.” He was not flirting. Not.“Nothing wrong with a dirty boy.”
The Manic Monday REVIEW 3.75-4.00 stars
Hate makes you unhappy.That’s a line from the story, and it sums the entire book up nicely. It’s about what hate, and the people who preach it, can do to a person. Kendall is a hard-working mechanic, just trying to get by. He’s so deep in the closet you couldn’t find him with a floodlight and a backhoe. But, thanks to his fundamentalist stepdad, it’s no wonder. Then, for good measure, throw in that Kendall served in the army during Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell. The poor guy doesn’t just hide his sexuality, he’s been taught—forcibly—being gay is wrong. *shudders*
Then life takes a hard right turn when Barton Willis III roars into the garage in his vintage Mustang. The attraction is immediate, and Kendall has no clue what to do with his feelings. Not only that, he’s also fighting the teachings crammed down his throat that homosexuality is wrong, a sin. A sexy car, sizzling desire, and the need to find oneself bring two men together.
If you read Sean Michael, then you know there’s the usual loads and loads of sex, lol. Through that we get to see Kendall grow and find himself. There is some kink to the sex too. I didn’t really connect with Barton, but I sure did with Kendall, especially at the end. He’s so sweet and… Lord, he’s like a puppy you just want to cuddle. He isn’t inept; it’s just he’s had the gay practically beat out of him, and he comes across as so… lost. Yeah, that’s the word I want. He’s lost. Then Barton finds him, lol. I enjoyed the story very much.
