This story started as a way to see if I could write a story that would be engaging. In 2010 I entered my first attempt in The Stroke of Midnight contest by Passionate Ink and I was a finalist. That was the beginning of me taking my writing seriously. This story has had a good number of changes but I love Allyn and Logan more now than I did when I first met them and I can’t wait until you meet them too.

“Ask me,” he whispers in a voice I shouldn’t hear over the loud music but since I’m staring at his mouth the words are clear.
“What? I thought that was my line, and I thought you didn’t want to play with me anymore?” This is a surprising turn of events. One, he was starting the game again, and two, it sounds like we may be able to get back to where we were. What was that going to do to my decision? I didn’t know and right now I don’t care.
“We aren’t allowed to change the rules? Are you the only one who gets to make up the game or change the tone or whatever it is you do when you decide I’m the pool boy to your housewife, farmer to your milkmaid, cop to your prisoner, or doctor to your patient that has a problem with her naughty bits?”
“Of course you are allowed to change the rules, and since I didn’t think you wanted to play my games with me, the question came as a surprise.”
“A pleasant surprise?”
“Yes, Logan, a very pleasant surprise.”
“It’s not that I don’t want to play games with you. I love your cupcakes Allyn, but I want the full meal. The appetizer, the salad, the main dish, the side dishes, the entree and then topped off with a cupcake.” Logan is stealing my heart again and to music this time. “I want all of you…the good, the sad, the vulnerable, the whole damn package. I just want you to try and let me in so I can spend some time just with you. If I can’t partake in the entire buffet right now that’s okay. I’m willing to wait. You’re too much of a caring person to leave me hungry and unfulfilled forever.”
“I don’t know what to say to that. You’ve overwhelmed my senses with your statements but for now, I am willing to try.”
“That’s my girl. So now that I’ve satisfied your quest for knowledge I will submit my request again. Ask me, Allyn.”
I took in a deep breath and let it out. “Who are you today?”
“I’m so glad you asked my beautiful Allyn. I’m the big bad wolf to your little red riding hood,” he says as he sways with me. His lips are so close to my ear, I can feel the moist heat like a soft kiss and it arouses me like we are the only ones in the building. “Don’t worry I am going to give you a nice head start.” He brought me back to where he picked me up before the dance. “See you in the woods, Allyn.”

This book has been one of my favorites. The concept was one I've been thinking about writing for a long time. Earlier this year, I actually sat down to write it. This was a Camp Nano project that I worked on in the month of July. I wrote 50K in about 3 weeks, and then worked on revisions and ended up adding another 10K in the final week of Camp Nano. I really love Dean and Annabelle. They're great characters, and they were a lot of fun to play with and write about.

Excerpt    The cold November air hit Allison hard, chilled her bones, and caused instant goose flesh to rise and cover her skin. She hunched over momentarily trying to ward off the chill. Her eyes scanned the train station as a possible place to hide, but she discarded the idea immediately.  It was too open. The streets across from the apartment were busy and not easy to cross.  Estimating her chance of crossing them before being captured, the odds were against her. She would not have the time or the strength to do it before they caught up with her. Moving as fast as she could, she walked across the courtyard, down the embankment to the sidewalk.    Several cars and other vehicles waited at the stoplight. Making a desperate decision, she stepped up quickly to a car and yanked the handle. The door opened and she scrambled inside, slammed the door shut, and locked it. The light changed from red to green. The driver, startled, pressed the gas. The car leaped forward only to stop abruptly. Several horns blasted behind him instantly.     “What the fuck!”                “Drive! Please drive,” she begged.     The sound of her voice carried a desperation that commanded him to obey. The car leaped forward as two people, a man and a woman, dashed into the courtyard. They hurried through the wrought iron gate onto the sidewalk looking up and down the street, peering into cars as they drove by. Allison eased down on the floor of the car until the stranger’s car circled the green and headed toward South Street. Her heart pumped furiously, and she swallowed with difficulty. Lifting her shaky hand, she eased herself upon the seat. She had no idea what she would say to this stranger when he stopped his car. He must think she was insane or had escaped from somewhere. She hadn’t. This was the first time in her life that she’d ever done anything like this.    He pulled into the parking lot at the supermarket, flung his door open, and walked around his car to the back right door. His long strides reached it before Allison got out. As she pushed against the door, he pulled it open.  He was furious with her for not only scaring the living hell out of him, but for doing this unthinkable act. What could have possessed her to do it? She’d better have a damn good reason.    With both feet firmly planted on the blacktop, she was ready to stand, but she could not lift her body. He stood solidly in her path, one arm resting on top of the door effectively cutting off her escape. Dressed in black jeans, cream polo shirt, and light black jacket, his body allowed little room for her to move.     Allison looked up at him and swallowed nervously. He was lean and taller than Douglas, so she would say he was over six foot tall. His face was deeply tanned, his blond hair shaped his head perfectly, and straight brows enhanced his cold blue eyes that were not looking at her in a friendly way. His nose was straight, jaws firm and square, his lips slightly full and sensual. His hard eyes concentrated on her steadily.  A strong current of anger radiated from him. She felt it, and cursed Douglas fervently in her mind. There was a leached control about him that frightened her. Most of all, she needed to be on her way. The quicker she apologized, the faster she could leave, she decided.    “I’m sorry, very sorry, I startled you back there,” she said sincerely.  “Thank you for helping me. Again, I’m truly sorry. I’ll leave you now.”    “Like hell you will! Not so fast,” he stated, not moving an inch as he continued to look at her. Despite the anger that ran through him, the sound of her voice drew his attention. It reminded him of warm honey. He liked it, and he could hear genuine regret in her tone. She was also very nervous, and she should damn well be, for the stunt she just pulled. He wasn’t ready to let her walk away from him. Her skin was light brown, and he wondered what her eyes looked like. The huge dark glasses she stared at him through hid them very well.     His eyes on her were unnerving. She couldn’t help but move restlessly in her seat. If only he would move. Each minute he delayed her was making it easier for Douglas’s friend to find her.    “What made you do such a foolish thing?”     “Under ordinary circumstances, I wouldn’t have done it.” The thought of how close she came to involving him in an accident made her stomach turn.

      I’ve made a lot of mistakes – ones I’m not proud of, and definitely ones that have left their marks both mentally and physically.

     Six months into tattooing at Blue’s and already I’m the most wanted and sought out tattooist. My biggest clientele consists of women. They come into the shop, end up in my bed and we both come out happy. It’s been my release since I’ve stopped fighting. It’s become part of the “new” me. 
     But when Tripp reappears in my life, I can’t deny the fact that I would do anything for that girl. 
     So when she asks me to move in with her and her ‘boyfriend’ – our other childhood friend – I never expected for things to get so fucked up and twisted that I would find myself only more attracted to her by each passing second or wanting to protect her from everything that isn’t me.

      I hear something get set down on my computer desk before I feel the bed dip down next to me. It must be Lucas saying goodbye before he has to get ready for work.
      Groaning, I reach out and grip his upper thigh, surprised at how hard and thick it feels in my hand. I guess I never really paid his legs much attention before. “Ughhhh… my head. Why did you give me all those shots last night? I feel like hell.” I run my hand up higher, stopping just below his package. Why does he feel so good right now?
     “You look like hell too,” Alex says playfully.
     Shocked, I let go of his thigh and grip onto the sheet to cover my bare breasts, while maneuvering my way to my knees. I almost forgot that Alex finally moved his stuff in last night. Man, I really must’ve had a few too many shots.
     “Crap, Alex. I thought you were Lucas.” I reach up with one hand to cover my face as my head starts pounding. “I guess I drank a little too much last night.” I pull my hand away and squint from the light shining in my room. “I almost grabbed your dick, Alex. You weren’t even going to say anything?”
      Grinning, Alex stands up, and I can’t help but to notice how sexy he looks, wearing only a tight pair of boxer briefs. Not only do I get him as a roommate, but now I’ll also have to see him running around in his underwear. Talk about a distraction.
      “Just a few too many.” He runs his hand through his wet hair. “And I’m not going to stop something that feels good. I’m sure your hand was enjoying it too much. Now sit up straight.”
I watch as Alex walks over to my desk and grabs a plate and a glass of something. My head hurts too much to even pay attention to his words. “What’s this?” I ask as he sets the plate on my lap. “You made me breakfast?”
      He sets the glass down on the nightstand beside me and I peek over to see that it’s orange juice. “Yeah.” Without another word, he walks into the bathroom. I almost think he’s going back to his room, until he emerges a few seconds later, holding something in his hand. He places two pills into my hand and crosses his arms over his chest. “Ibuprofen. Take those and eat your food.”
      Not questioning him, I do as told. The first bite of food causes me to smile at its deliciousness. “Oh my goodness, Alex.” I point down at the toast before taking another bite and quickly chewing it. “This is absolutely delicious. Wow.”
      He smiles. “Tell me something I don’t know.” I toss a piece of egg at his head. “Cocky much?” I laugh as he grabs my hand and takes a bite of the eggs that I was just about to eat. “Very much so.” He chews the eggs and rubs a hand over his stiff abs. “What you doing before work?”
     “I was going to stop by and visit Tara. You want to come with?”
     He nods his head and starts backing away to the bathroom. “Yeah. I’m sure she misses the shit out of me.”
      I laugh, accidentally spitting the mouthful of toast out. “Seriously?” I cover my mouth and smile. “It’s only been like a week. Trust me, she does not miss you.”
      He flashes me his dimples. “We’ll see about that.” He gets ready to walk out of my room, but stops and grabs onto the frame. “Oh and Lucas left for work already. He said he’ll see you around one.”
      Figures he wouldn’t say bye. “Alright… thanks.” I take a sip of my orange juice. “I’ll shower after I eat and then we can go. Sound good?”
      “Everything out of your mouth sounds good.” He attempts to catch the egg in his mouth as I throw it at him. “You have a horrible aim. I’m going to go downstairs and work out for about twenty minutes and then take a quick shower. I’ll shower downstairs so I don’t slow you down.”
       Eyeing his body up and down, I swallow, remembering the dirty sounds coming from the downstairs shower last night. I tried so hard to block them out, but it was pretty hard to miss. I have to admit that hearing Alex fuck, both turned me on and bothered me at the same time. A part of me wanted to imagine myself taking her place, while the other part wanted to pretend that I wasn’t imagining it at all.
      Then Lucas came up here saying dirty things to me about Alex… once again, turning me on so bad that I practically knocked him down and jumped on his dick. We had wild, meaningless sex, and then I sent him down to his room. Sleeping in the same bed as Lucas is something that I haven’t done yet. I’ve only slept next to Alex, and for some reason… I want to keep it that way for now. 
      “Sounds good. We can take your truck.” I smile while taking another bite of food.
      “You just can’t get enough of my awesome driving, can you? You like it fast and wild.” He winks. “I like that.”
       I point my fork at him. “Just hurry up so we can get going.”
      “Sure thing, babe.” He dodges out of my room, leaving me grinning from ear to ear. He always has a way of making me smile. I honestly don’t know what I would do without him.

     Something for the Pain is the very intense, erotic story of Alex, a tattoo artist, and his best friend Tripp, who serves drinks at a bar. They have been best friends since childhood, bonded by lives of abuse and abandonment. Through all their trials and tribulations, they've been there for each other. They are so close, in fact, that they don't realize they are in love. Or rather, they fight their feelings, never acknowledging their romantic love for each other. They're terrified taking that step would destroy their friendship, which means the world to them.     So Alex plays around with any number of women and feels nothing for them while Tripp moves in with Lucas, her supposed boyfriend. But she won't be happy until she convinces Alex to move into their house with them. As you can imagine, lots of complications ensue. Things get really heated when Lucas wants to indulge a kinky fantasy and watch the two of them get it on. This gives Alex and Tripp the perfect excuse to tear up the sheets, which is what they've wanted all along. Of course, once is not going to be enough.    The author does a good job of showing how devoted Tripp and Alex are to each other. She also does well showing how their relationship grew from their past hurts. I did feel the reason for them staying apart was a bit weak, especially since they spend so much time flirting with each other and exchanging sexy banter. She's "Firecracker" and he's "Stud." There's no hiding how they feel, and it was a little frustrating that they took so long to face up to it.     The way Alex used other women to get his mind off of Tripp made him rather unsympathetic to me at times. Tripp was using Lucas pretty much the same way, although it was hard to muster any sympathy for Lucas. He basically got what he deserved. Once Alex and Tripp got together, it was pretty clear Lucas would be on his way out.     The characters are young, hungry for each other and can't keep a lid on their feelings. The sex scenes are off the charts. Readers who thrill to angsty stories of lovers who can't be together yet can't stay away will be hooked.

Or in this case, an art gallery. Claire wonders if her shade of lipstick is too outre for the evening out she has planned with her besties Carmen (cat shifter) and Rachel (vampire). Claire's social life hasn't been too impressive since her husband left her after she'd been turned into a zombie. Even her diet is somewhat limited--she prefers raw hamburger and steak to munching on human brains.
The gallery features a display of erotic art and soon Claire encounters the artist, who is everything a sexually deprived zombie gal could wish for and more. When she gets him alone, surprises and excitement ensue.

Lipstick is a fun and erotic short story for lovers of the paranormal. Due to its brief length, it's more of an appetizer than a full meal, but will leave readers eager for a taste of author's other work. Perhaps there will be stories for Rachel and Carmen, too?

Hello, friends! Today I'm back to sharing about my trip to Europe last month. I've shared a bit about Iceland, and now I'd like to move on to Copenhagen! 

Our hotel--a lovely place.Our flight from Reykjavic took about three hours. Through the train from the airport left us only a short distance from our hotel, we got a bit lost and walked in circles for a while. That's what happens when you're in a city where you don't speak the language and Google maps is only confusing you. :-) (A hint for future travelers: everyone in Copenhagen seems to speak English and the names of streets are on the sides of buildings.) A kind taxi driver gave us directions and we finally found our destination: the Copenhagen Strand Hotel, only a few blocks from the scenic Nyhavn area. The entire area is lined with restaurants and bars and crowded with sightseers and tourists.


View of the canal and houses.Seeing the canal and the colorful houses in the area, I couldn't help but be reminded of Hans Christian Andersen's fairytale The Steadfast Tin Soldier. Perhaps this canal was where the soldier had his grand adventure, sailing in his paper boat, encountering a water rat and finally ending up in the belly of a fish.

So many delicious things to eat and drink! We really enjoyed ourselves. Fish of course is a common dish, as well as pork. And let's talk dessert! Here are two important Danish words: is (pronounced like "ice" in English) and kugle (plural: kugler). How many scoops of ice cream would you like? Three kugler of is, please! We fell in love with Danish ice cream. There are all the familiar flavors you'd find in the states, plus more unusual ones, including (wait for it) licorice! Yes, if you love licorice, you'll love Denmark. Licorice in all its forms is very popular (including in chocolate bars--see the picture right). And don't forget the waffle cone! If you really want to gussy up your ice cream cone, you can add some jam and cream topping, and top it all off with a flødebolle (a big chocolate-covered marshmallow). Enjoy!




Okay, back to some of the sights. There are several palaces to visit within not-too-far walking distance (and of course we had to walk off some of those kugler, lol). We visited Amalienborg, which is the winter residence of the Royal Family of Denmark. It consists of four palaces in a square. We toured the museum in Christian VIII's palace and took pictures of the guards in their uniforms and tall bearskin caps. 


Then we visited Rosenborg Castle, which was built back in the 1600s. The museum contained many artifacts as well as the Crown jewels. We also enjoyed the beautiful flowers in the Castle Garden, which is the oldest royal garden in Denmark.
