I'm Not Doing NaNoWriMo

As the title says.

I've thought about it a lot, but when it comes down to it, it's not about not having the time to write 50,000 words in a month. It's that I don't want to commit to a new project.

What I want to do is complete an old project, one that has been nagging at me for years to complete. One that I think will do quite well if published. It's a YA fantasy novel (I can already hear you groan!) about a girl from a society that lives underground who has to disguise herself as a woman of noble birth from the surface in order to retrieve magic documents that have been stolen from the underground.

So here's my goal.

I'm already at about 27,000 words (28,000 tonight if all goes well). My goal is to finish the first draft by the end of the year–hopefully that will be around 60,000 words.

I'd like to publish it April/May next year–that's a bit ambitious, but we'll see how it turns out.
