Wee Wisdom (11)

Text within this block will maintain its original spacing when published*below a certain basic level of intelligence (however we may want to measure it or not measure it), a person cannot feel empathy, cannot put himself in other's shoes, and thus cannot act morally, for only he and he alone is felt to exist, and only in the present moment. christians love to ignore this basic reality - it conflicts with the ingrained ideology they mistake for christianity. the dogmatic denial of pre-existenc...

Etymosophy (1)

If the names are not correct, the language is not in accordance with the truth of things. If the language is not in accordance with the truth of things, matters cannot be brought to success. When matters cannot be brought to success, rites and music do not flourish. When rites and music do not flourish, punishments will not be properly applied. When punishments are not properly applied, people do not know how to act. Thus a superior man considers it necessary that the names he uses should be app...

First review of my novel

I hope you forgive me the shameless self promotion, but I was very happy to receive my first review of Phantasia, and wanted to share it. I couldn’t have asked for a better one. Here it is:

I once heard someone describe slipstream as magic realism for Anglo-Saxons. Phantasia is the perfect example of this.

Set in a reality where imagination can be manifested at will by some, and featuring characters such as the seven deadly sins themselves, Phantasia is a story about humanity, love and the power o...

Asterius, a review

Asterius, by Susana Imaginário

When I was six or seven someone gave me a book on Greek Myths. I suppose it had the most famous stories, but I remember being obsessed with one in particular, about the Minotaur and his labyrinth. The reason is that the Minotaur terrified me beyond words, to the point of having repeated nightmares of being trapped in the labyrinth, chased by the monster. It got so bad that my mother threw the book away, as I couldn’t help myself from opening the book to that specifi...

School of Breaking, a review

a review of School of Breaking, by independent author Alesya Grigorovitch.

The beginning of the book is quite whimsical and light hearted. Emile’s nostalgia for the small town she grew up in, and the contrast with the big city, first, and the strange school, second, was very well described and immersive, and there were some very beautiful sentences describing this feeling. As the book gets into the workings of the school, with its awful classes and even more awful teachers and colleagues, it beco...
