Hello Blogger Book Fair hoppers
I’m very delighted to meet you. My name is Zrinka Jelic and I’m author of three published books, Bonded by Crimson, a paranormal romance, and Treasured Chest, a historical romance. Plus my work appears in an anthology titled Angles Cried dedicated to tiny victims of unimaginable and senseless violence of Sandy Hook School.
Today I’d like to talk about my newest release, a time travel romance titled “Love Remains”. It was published by Crimson Romance on July 15th.
It is dedicated to all women, but especially working kind. It takes a lot of skill and energy to juggle career and family, and to keep going day in and day out. When kids are sick and we have to stay at home with our little ones, we face the employer’s scrutiny and in some cases even losing jobs. The treatment of working mothers in the corporations got me thinking and I’ve decided to show my findings (at least the way I was treated when faced with the issue) through my writing. And since I am a romance writer, what best way to do it than through romance. Of course, being of Croatian descent, I have to throw something Croatian in the mix. Would you sacrifice your family for the sake of your career? Is it OK for corporations to dispose of women who put their families before their jobs? Is there a golden middle?
I hope you’ll find “Love Remains” a thrilling read as I found it when I wrote it.
Here’s the book’s blurb
Olivia Owen, a busy, single, high-functioning, corporate executive officer, is not afraid to die a spinster for the sake of her career. But in an alternate reality world, bridged by the angel of her Down’s syndrome sister, she meets Tom Medar, a dedicated, Croatian defense attorney who dreams of the right woman, but never has time to find her. Together they foil an adulterous murder plot while discovering there’s room for love and family in their busy lives—but not before they are separated again.
When they awaken from their alternate world, will they be able to cross countries to find each other again?
Love Remains is now available on Amazon
Also, there’s a little giveaway on my blog and since I’m in Canada I’ll have to make it digital. So a copy of Love Remains for your e-reader and $5.00 Amazon gift card. Just drop by my blog Hello Romance and leave me a comment, join my blog or like my Facebook page.
And, a bit about me
Zrinka Jelic lives in Ontario, Canada, with her husband and two children. A member of the Romance Writers of America and its chapter Fantasy Futuristic &Paranormal, as well as Savvy Authors, she writes contemporary fiction—which leans toward the paranormal—and adds a pinch of history. Her characters come from all walks of life, and although she prefers red, romance comes in many colors. Given Jelic’s love for her native Croatia and the Adriatic Sea, her characters usually find themselves dealing with a fair amount of sunshine, but that’s about the only break they get. “Alas,” Jelic says, with a grin. “Some rain must fall in everyone’s life.”

Hi. My name is Kate Lutter, and I’m super excited to be a part of Blogger Book Fair 2013 and to showcase my debut novel Wild Point Island, and a fabulous Give-away:

I write a blog called Black and White (how the fictional world impacts the real world and your comment will be part of a survey I’m currently conducting.)
**********
I never would have published Wild Point Island if I hadn’t broken a few rules along the way.
I was never one for breaking the rules. I was the kid in school who always did her homework. Who always arrived on time for school. Who took notes. Studied for tests. I was that kind of person.
When I became a writer, I still followed the rules. Why wouldn’t I? I believed that rules prevent chaos, make the world a better place. One of the most important rules was—never pitch a book that you’re writing to an editor until you’re finished writing it. NEVER.
But after writing four novels and not selling them, I grew suspicious that the ideas I was writing about were not marketable. And then one day . . . last year . . . I did the unthinkable.
I was at a writing conference and I signed up for an appointment with a top New York editor of a publishing house I respected even though I was only 100 pages into writing my current novel.
Now this isn’t a good idea on many levels, but I convinced myself that I needed to know whether the idea of the story was marketable.
I had the title: Wild Point Island.
I had the genre: paranormal romance
And, I had the story idea—a love story where two people want to be together but they can’t because it’s physically impossible.
Yes, I’ll admit it—I was addicted to True Blood—HBO’s hot drama and was a Sookie and Bill fan. I loved the idea of Bill (a vampire) falling for Sookie (a half human, half fairy). It was a relationship doomed from the start. Bittersweet. And I’d drafted a romance modeled on a similar concept.
My hero, a revenant, who was once human, was now a different life form. He’d returned from the dead. He was 420 years old and was condemned to live his very long life on Wild Point Island. My heroine was half human/half revenant. She lived on the mainland, in North Carolina.
They were both descendants of the Lost Colony of Roanoke, an original English colony that was settled in 1592, but then disappeared when the mother ship returned to England for supplies. This was my hook, and I wanted to see if it was hook enough to sell a book.
If the editor were interested, she would request at most a partial—the first three chapters—if she requested anything at all–and that would give me time to finish the book, and then I would know that I had a marketable idea.
So I marched into my appointment to do a very wrong thing. I pitched the story I hadn’t finished and waited for her reaction. In a pitch session with an editor at a conference you have ten minutes to sell your story. Some writers crack under the pressure. They become tongue-tied. They stare down at their notes, and the words swim before their eyes.
To my shock and amazement, the editor responded immediately. She knew all about the Lost Colony of Roanoke. She’d vacationed down in North Carolina as a child. She loved the idea. And then she lowered the boom. The good news. What every writer who pitches wants to hear—She requested the entire manuscript.
She referred, of course, to the story I hadn’t yet finished.
I smiled and said, “Of course. No problem.” I was doomed.
Back home, my husband said, “Just finish it then.”
Two hundred pages in a month? I would have to write ten pages a day straight for twenty days which would give me roughly two hundred pages and then, I would need ten days to edit. Already I was sweating.
The next day I signed up online for Book In A Month. I set myself a schedule. I grew determined to finish the book.
It was ugly and beautiful at the same time, and I learned two things from the experience. One—I could write incredibly fast when I wanted to. For the first time in my life, I entered into what writers call “the zone.” When you write intently everyday for long periods of time, you know your story so well, you do enter into the special world of your story, and it does get easier. Two—I never broke that rule again. I finished. I edited. And I submitted.
And it was rejected.
It wasn’t until months later when I had a chance to rewrite the story that I was able to sell it.
Wild Point Island was published by Crescent Moon Press in 2012. It’s now available from Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble.com in print and e book formats.

As for Wild Point Island, the back cover blurb reads:
Banished from Wild Point Island as a child, Ella Pattenson, a half human-half revenant, has managed to hide her true identity as a descendent of the Lost Colony of Roanoke. Thought to have perished, the settlers survived but were transformed into revenants–immortal beings who live forever as long as they remain on the island.
Now, Ella must return to the place of her birth to rescue her father from imprisonment and a soon to be unspeakable death. Her only hope is to trust a seductive revenant who seems to have ties to the corrupt High Council. Simon Viccars is sexy and like no man she’s ever met. But he’s been trapped on the island for 400 years and is willing to do almost anything for his freedom.
With the forces of the island conspiring against her, Ella must risk her father, her heart, and her life on love.

Just Breathe Trilogy tells the story of brother and sister, James and Ever Harding and their journey into an unknown world where unbelievable things are possible.
Barely Breathing (Book #2)
Ever Harding used to believe in love. That is until she was left heartbroken by the only person she ever really loved, Jack, the mysterious boy from her history class. Little did she know he was born of the sea, on land to watch over her. But was he really? She made the ultimate sacrifice, to live in the sea as a mermaid, for Jack and for love. But she found that in the end, that love wasn’t enough.
Now she finds herself alone, having to make a huge choice. She must decide whether to defend others against the choices she has made or fight for the freedoms of a population, she has just become a part of.
Ever’s brother James, became a part of the sea not by any choice of his own, but he is willing to embrace it as long as a certain long legged, beauty is by his side. But as his sister found, things are not always as they seem.
In the end what they feared the most comes to reality, the battle, waged between staying true to life in the sea or changing a race of people to become more powerful and diverse. Will Ever and James survive the lines drawn in the sand or will they have to battle each other for what they believe?
Little do they know the battle in the end, will be something entirely different than what they were ready for.
BOOK TRAILER
EXCERPT
Excerpt from Barely Breathing – Ever’s POV
My ear buds are in and I’ve been reading missed chapters since I got here. I feel an elbow in my arm so I glance up to find the source. Sasha is motioning for me to take my ear buds out. I pull them out to hear her, ” …and he’s looking right at you.” I glance to the front of the classroom to find Mr. Griggs staring at me. I wince and look away completely embarrassed. I squirm and sink further into my seat trying to avoid any more unwanted attention.
As he starts to lecture, I notice that someone is sitting in the seat to my left. My heart stops, literally. That seat is just condemned. Nothing good has come from anyone sitting there in this class. I’m scared to death to look. I have to know though. I turn my head slightly and my eyes meet the unmistakable green that I know so well, Alex. He glares at me angrily and looks away. Okay, so maybe I’m not at the top of his favorite people list. Ugh, this is probably not so good that he’s chasing me down.
Class drones on forever. With every minute that passes, I am more and more uncomfortable. I know he’s going to corner me after class. I just don’t know what I’m going to say. I steal another glance his way, this time his eyes have a softness in them, and that familiar flutter roams through my belly. I look straight ahead. Why in the world can’t I get my life together?
The bell rings. I get up and gather my things, noticing the whole time that Alex is standing there waiting on me. Maybe if I drag it out and make him late, he’ll leave without me. Fat chance. I pull my backpack over my shoulder but he stops me and effortlessly grabs the strap, placing it on his arm next to his bag. Ugh, now I definitely can’t run. I look over and he gestures for me to walk in front of him.
Once we’re in the hall I feel his hand under my elbow guiding me out the doors toward the parking lot. My heart speeds up at his touch. We pass many of my friends but they don’t give us a second thought. I wonder if this is it. Will he demand I go right back to the sea? That thought hurts a little, I don’t think I’m ready to go back.
His hand stays under my arm steering us to a black pickup truck, a few rows from the door. Once we’re next to the truck he drops our bags, turns me so my back is against the truck, and rests his hands above my shoulders against the black metal.
He lets out a deep breath as if he’s been holding it in, “Ever, don’t do that to me again.” His voice is pained at the last word. I glance into his eyes, so much hurt. Without thinking, my hand goes up and rests on his cheek. He leans in so that his lips are an inch from mine. I close my eyes, knowing this is wrong but needing to feel something. His breath hitches but he doesn’t move any closer. I open my eyes and he’s still right there. I close the gap. My lips graze his gently. A feeling rises up like none I’ve felt. Not the intense need or tingle I feel with Jack. A soothing feeling, a calmness, that I welcome. His lips explore mine. It lasts only a few seconds and he pulls away searching my eyes. My head screams at me, Ever this is wrong, what are you thinking?
My Start as an Indie – Heather Allen
What a wild ride already! I am still such a newbie but amazed at the support and friends I’ve made in this new world of Indie! I have met some amazing authors and who would have thought they all self-published. I wouldn’t have it any other way.
I started this thing, well really not a thing, writing, about 2 years ago. I concocted a story about a girl with magic powers yada, yada, yada. I had my husband read the first ten pages (there were only 60) and he couldn’t understand or get the picture I was trying to portray. I gave up. Girls and boys, don’t do that, never give up! Shame on me!
A year later I started Just Breathe, a new story swimming around up there. It seemed to shape up pretty nicely and after a year I had a full novel. This time I decided to avoid the husband and try for someone more appropriate for my audience. I grabbed my neighbor’s daughter, a young adult, and a reader at that. I must have chewed my finger nails to the cuticles, waiting for her to stroll over day after day. Finally, she came knocking with a smile on her face. She loved it! I was so happy with just that one little step in the right direction. And each part has been another step in the right direction ever since.
I recently released the third book in the trilogy, Forever Breathing. Let me tell you, it has been quite the journey. The third is of course my favorite but you have to read Just Breathe and Barely Breathing first. I have learned so much and refined my craft in such a short time. I’m very eager to continue on this adventure, the sky is the limit!

Author Open MIC: Welcomes Renee Charles ~ Top 10 Super Sexy Men in Fiction + Giveaway
Let’s give a warm welcome to Wicked Romance’s next guest ~ Renee Charles
Don’t forget about her giveaway ~ Author signed copy of Only Love Survives (US).
About the Author
Renee Charles
Author Renee Charles believes all love is legendary. Being the only female in a house full of giants (husband and two teenage boys) she tends to lean toward the strange and unusual, but inevitably the softer side shines through. Whether life leads her to a snow covered mountain top, sun dappled forest, or the bottom of a ravine (yes, ditches happen) she always has a pen and note pad ready so wherever the next adventure takes her, she can take notes. Her own romance began in an insane asylum. Luckily, both she and her husband only worked there. But it makes sense her romance novels have strange beginnings that lead to passionate endings. Romance with a twist.
In the face of zombies, werewolves, and big foot she always seems to find a happily ever after to leave you with a sigh at the end.

What makes a hero Sexy?
Is it the tight tights? The super hero bravado that allows him to accomplish anything? I say no. Think super nerds of the Big Bang theory. They wear tights, can accomplish anything they set their IQs to, and granted are cute in a weird sort of way, but Melt your legs sexy? No.
I submit to you, what makes a hero sexy is a drive to do whatever is necessary, despite the obstacles, despite the odds, driven by passion to ensure love prevails no matter what. The hero risks, even sacrifices, all for the woman he loves. That is why we find them so irresistible. That is what transforms an everyday guy into a hero that even the most sophisticated woman can swoon over. Here is a list of my top ten super sexy men of fiction. Some are books, some are movies, ALL are men in love.
10) Capt. Daniel Gregg -The Ghost and Mrs. Muir- Book by RA Dick-
The salty sea captain is dead, but can’t help but admire, then fall in love with the strong woman who moves into “His” house. After he helps her save the house, he does the right thing by leaving her alone to have a life and waits patiently for her on the other side. Sacrifice for love. Not to mention, who doesn’t love a sea captain?
9) Will Parker -Morning Glory- Lavyrle Spencer –
A man who takes on a pregnant widow and her two children as his own, with no agenda other than to love and be loved, is sexy. But when he chooses that life over the other “options” dangled in front of him, that just pushed his sex appeal over the top.
8) James Fraser-Outlander- Diana Gabaldon-
Is it wrong that the hottest part of that book is when he spanks her for her own good? Also, the scene when she is so worried about her cleanliness and he basically says he didn’t care if she stinks he had to have her. Yep, nothing sexier than then sweaty, sticky, hot monkey lovin’.
7) Westley or The Dread Pirate Roberts- The Princess Bride-
He comes back from being mostly dead all day to save her, need I say more?
6) Richard Collier -Somewhere In Time-
He travels back in time just to be with the woman he loves, and to top it off when they are torn apart he cannot go on without her. Okay, I am just gonna say what we are not supposed to say. Come on, isn’t that our ultimate fantasy? That life will cease without us? Look at your husband and tell me a little part of you doesn’t wish that. Not that he would die without you, but that he could not go on without you. Yeah, it’s there buried under all the 20th century politically correct crap.
5) King Leonidas -300-
I know it is not a romance movie, but the relationship he has with his queen, the strength he gains from his wife as he makes his choices, is sexy as hell. And when he says at the end, “My Queen! My wife. My love…” as he is about to die, I get goosebumps. IMO best scene in the entire damn movie.
4) Daryl Dixon – Walking Dead-
The way he has been with Carol through the loss of her daughter and proving deep inside he is a good guy, despite what everyone else thought, well what else can I say? I love the lone wolf archetype.
3)Kyle Reese in Terminator -
Travels back in time to save her…oh, and the future of mankind, but mostly her.
2) Edmond Dantès (from The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas)
Such a tortured soul, even with the option to be a rich man and go about his life, he can not. He is trapped by hatred, and must, must, must have his revenge. The one thing that finally brings his soul peace, returning to the arms of his lost love. Ohhhhh yeahhhhh.
1) Mr. Darcy-
Has an author ever written a hero so multifaceted since Ms. Austin created him? The perfect combo of dark and brooding mixed with humor and raw need. Intoxicating indeed. The stuff we compare our heros to now. Hell, our men even.

Book Excerpt
A storm that spelled danger flashed across Sam’s face. He advanced on Megan so fast, she backed up against the side of the Suburban. Planting a hand firmly on each side of her, he pinned her with his arms as well as his gaze.
“What I want? Are you so hard headed you can’t tell what I want?” He covered her mouth with his lips and crushed her clever comeback with an assault on her senses.
Megan pushed him, but he didn’t budge. Instead, he continued to kiss her until her heart raced and cheeks flushed with need. All resistance melted and she succumbed to the warmth of his embrace. Her arms wound around his neck of their own accord pulling him closer while her tongue sought his in a passionate dance, completely ignoring what her heart wanted.
When he finally broke away leaving Megan breathless and wanting so much more, Sam put his forehead to hers and watched her mouth like a drunk watches amber liquid poured into a glass. “You,” he rasped. “I’ve wanted you since I found you hanging from that damn roof, and all our little encounter in the river did was add fuel to the fire.”
