A word is not the same with one writer as with another.

A word is not the same with one writer as with another.  One tears it from his guts.  The other pulls it out of his overcoat pocket.  ~Charles Peguy
Where do I begin? Well H is working on my website which is all very well and good but not when we only have one decent compueter in the house. So yesterday - my allocated writing day - was hijacked by H wanted to do some stuff to my site (which by the way is coming along nicely) - I cant wait till its done.

The best style is the style you dont notice.

The best style is the style you don't notice.  ~Somerset Maugham

So from previous posts you will know that I am trying to sort out my website. One word = Nightmare. The formatting takes so long and is so fiddly - it makes formatting for kindle seem a breeze... well I suppose its a bit iof a lie- its not that hard but it is time consuming - four hours in front of the computer and you have realised you have just about managed the font. I spent yesterday evening having a look at other author...

Really happy with the way our blog has come together and currently working on more short stories so keep checking the blog. For updates. I have also taken ten minutes to spruce up (yes it's a granny word I know) this blog. I have only just discovered tabs and stand alone p...

Write What You Wish To Write

Write what you wish to write

So long as you write what you wish to write, that is all that matters; and whether it matters for ages or only for hours, nobody can say. But to sacrifice a hair of the head of your vision, a shade of its color, in deference to some Headmaster with a silver pot in his hand or to some professor with a measuring rod up his sleeve, is the most abject treachery. - Virginia Woolf

I owe todays quote to Advicetowriters on twitter and I read it when I needed it the most. I ...

As to the adjective...

As to the adjective, when in doubt, strike it out.  ~Mark Twain, Pudd'nhead Wilson, 1894

My eyes hurt from editing! really they do. But I am nearly there I have edited 151 pages so not many more to go maybe a couple of days worth. I have had to give up today because my eyes and my brain hurts too.

Okay so my musings so far this week: Basically I read a tweet from guardian books or something like this to say some self published book was number one in the amazon charts for three months at the en...

So much to say...so little time

Where do I begin? Over the last couple of days I have come across quite a few articles that have piqued my interest. This was perhaps for the first time in ages I had a chance to do nothing on the weekend and so I bought th papers. I know I should have been editing or writing but him indoors gets a bit annoyed with my incessant tapping at the key board and therfore this task is solely kept for when he is out or Wednesday afternoons. Anyway I needed a bit of down time.

The first thing I did...

Let the readers do some of the work themselves

Let the readers do some of the work themselves - Fyodor Dostoyesky

On Twitter one of the best people I follow is @advicetowriters, like the quote above Jon Winokur comes up with some great quotes and snippets of advice.

My new Blog has been somewhat delayed but will be up soon I promise - In the meantime I have finished Jodi Picoult's The Tenth Circle. I enjoyed it - I really did - Some people kind of roll their eyes when you say you like Jodi Picoult but I do. Well this book at least . I...

No one means all he says, and yet...

No one means all he says, and yet very few say all they mean, for words are slippery and thought is viscous.  ~Henry Brooks Adams, The Education of Henry Adams, 1907
Well I have started the edit on The Bittersweet Vine. I have done 40 pages over a couple of days only 139 left then - Not that I am counting. It is going okay - not as stressful as Goa traffic because its more coherent at this stage. GT needed 20 edits before it was it this stage but then it was my first.

In other news Assistant s...
