Opening the Gates For Drupal.org Code Contributions
Proposals to improve the Drupal contribution process have been heavily debated for the last few years.
Until now, the only thing everyone could agree on was the current process was broken.
Currently, many submitted modules are hung out to dry, because very few people have time or energy to fight through the submission process. You are lucky if you get your module accepted within 6 months. Many developers have waited much longer.
We were astonished to learn that our theme, called Breeze, was the first theme project to complete the approval process in 2016. And it was published in September! There were no new theme contributors for the vast majority of 2016.
Fortunately, big changes are finally about to come to the approval process for code on Drupal.org.

Magento 2 Videos and Building on Accidental YouTube Success
18 months ago, the OSTraining YouTube channel was a sleepy place.
Then we ran a little Kickstarter project and accidentally ended up with over 1 million views. We thought the videos would help some people learn Drupal 8. We had no idea the videos would go viral. That surprise success led to partnerships with GoDaddy, InMotion Hosting and other companies.
Here's a chart showing views for videos on our YouTube channel. You can see a very sharp increase in late 2015, when the Drupal 8 Beginner class arrived.

Our 4 Main Drupal 8 Classes Are Ready for 8.3
Earlier this week, we wrote about the new features coming in Drupal 8.3.
I'm happy to say that our 4 main Drupal 8 classes are now ready for 8.3.
Over the last few weeks, we've steadily gone through all 200+ videos in those 4 classes, and updated any that were out-of-date.
