#WriterWednesday with Author EA Cook
This week's #WriterWednesday interview is with the very interesting EA Cook. Check him out!!
AT: Where do you live? What’s your town’s claim to fame?
EAC: Fort Collins, Colorado.
The Overland Trail runs along the West side of town at the base of the foothills of the Rockies. This was a major route during the western migration of the 19th century. Stage stops can still be found along the way
AT: Oh, wow! What genre do you write?
EAC: I’m a storyteller and my subjects are people, so, it gets messy. I’ve written a Western novel that is, intentionally, a crime fiction ancestor story that precedes the characters in my contemporary books. Another crime fiction story, Rusk, takes place in 1917 and so is historical fiction. I’ve also put together a collection of what I call Autobiographical Snapshots. I truly do write all over the map.
AT: Lol, so do I. I think that's common among true storytellers. Are you a published author or aspiring to be published? If published, how many books are out there with your name on them?
EAC: I’ve had a number of flash fiction pieces and short stories published in a few e-zines and in a pulp fiction paper magazine. I’ve self- published three books, a short story, and my autobiographical stuff.
AT: What inspires you to write?
EAC: I’m not a writer framing stories or books, but rather a storyteller trying to write it down for you. I have tales to tell if you’ll read them. Also, I have an unreasonable and insatiable need for the approval of strangers.
AT: Don't I know the feeling! Name one book you wish you’d written.
EAC: Treasure Island. It would have been darker.
AT: Oh, my...a more adult version, eh? What was the last book you read? Did you enjoy it?
EAC: Full Dark, No Stars – Stephen King.
Top notch. King’s best work is in his shorter writings.
AT: Definitely putting that one on my list...maybe. Who is your favorite author?
EAC: ...nope. I couldn’t begin to go down that rabbit hole.
AT: Lol!!!! Now for the fun questions! You’re a new addition to the crayon box. What color would you be and why?
EAC: Crème Brule’ Tan.
If one could capture that color of the crispy caramelization then they deserve a color.
AT: Oh, that would be niiiice! What would your autobiography be called?
EAC: Faces, Places, and Pain.
AT: Sounds intriguing! Do you believe in love at first sight?
EAC: An unexplainable instant chemistry at least.
AT: I can agree with that. If a genie granted you three wishes, what would they be? (can't ask for more wishes)
EAC:
1. Life is hard enough and too short not to not know without a shadow of a doubt that God exists, so one wish is that he would speak audibly to me. It’s really the only decent thing to do considering the hours and years that I’ve spent talking to Him audibly. Until then, we’re estranged.
2. That I would be able to feed myself and wipe my own butt until the day that I die.
3. I want to control the time and place when I hear the word no.
AT: I believe there are many people who can identify with those wishes. Are you spring, summer, fall, or winter? Please share why.
EAC: All of the seasons here in Colorado are easy and they each have their charm, but I get grumpy above 85 degrees.
AT: So do I, lol. Tea or coffee?
EAC: Coffee

EAC: My newest novella – Further, went live at the end of May!
Go go go and get this book!!! It grabs you tight and never lets go...I couldn't put it down....brilliant!!!!

AT: Where do you live? What’s your town’s claim to fame?
SB: I presently reside in Nashville, home of country music!
AT: What genre do you write?
SB: I write Christian fiction, women’s fiction, and Young adult fiction
AT: Are you a published author or aspiring to be published? If published, how many books are out there with your name on them?
SB: I am a published author with twenty titles to my name, and I am extremely grateful that God blessed me with the talent and gift to write and tell stories!
AT: Amen! What inspires you to write?
SB: I love it. It’s a passion for me. I truly believe that it is a form of ministry. I love to see the characters develop into real life people. I enjoy going back and reading the work that God blessed me to create. It’s an awesome feeling.
AT: I can definitely identify with that feeling. Name one book you wish you’d written.
SB: Ummm, one book I wish I’d written. That’s a tough one, Adrienne. So tough that I can’t name one. I don’t look at other work and say that I wish I had written that particular book. I write what I write and how I write. My writing is unique to me and another author’s work is unique to them.
AT: So very true. What was the last book you read? Did you enjoy it?
SB: I am a full time editor, so I read constantly, but it’s primarily for editorial purposes. So, I would say the last book that I read and truly enjoyed was Jezebel’s Daughter by Jacquelin Thomas. I also enjoyed reading Every Little Step by Bobby Brown and Journey to Love by Lacricia Angelle. I have read so many others, especially new and upcoming authors, but to be honest, because of poor editing, I wish not to name them.
AT: Oh, my! Well, who is your favorite author? Why?
SB: My favorite author of all time was J. California Cooper. I simply loved her unique, flavorful style of writing. I have not read anyone who can top her even though I have read and enjoyed numerous books by a bevy of authors.
AT: Now for the fun questions! You’re a new addition to the crayon box. What color would you be and why?
SB: Adrienne, where do you get these questions? LOL. I would be the color purple. Purple represents royalty and since I am “God’s Amazing Girl” I can see no other color befitting me more than purple!
AT: Love it! What would your autobiography be called?
SB: That’s easy: The Story of My Life.
AT: Do you believe in love at first sight?
SB: Yes, definitely. Been there done that.
AT: Hmm, I bet there's a story there! If a genie granted you three wishes, what would they be? (can't ask for more wishes)
SB: Without thinking about it I would say Total Health for me and my family, longevity of life for me and my family, peace for me and my family
AT: Beautiful! Are you spring, summer, fall, or winter? Please share why.
SB: I actually love Winter. I love the cold because I can cozy up inside a blanket and get warm. I love seeing the snow on the ground and in the trees.
AT: Tea or coffee?
SB: Definitely a tall glass of iced tea with a splash of lemon!
AT: Yummy! Tell us about your most recent/current project.
SB: “The McCoys of Holy Rock” was released June 30 of this year. In this sixth installment, readers will learn more about Hezekiah and Fancy McCoy who came on the scene in book V (My Wife My Baby…And Him). This couple has a lot they’re not telling, and when Hezekiah McCoy is voted in as the new Senior Pastor of Holy Rock things began to hit the fan!
The Real Housewives of Adverse City 2 released on July 31, 2017. It is appropriately named because it is book II of a new series I started: The Real Housewives of Adverse City. The Real Housewives of Adverse City 2 continues with the tales of the fabulously rich housewives, Eva, Peyton, Meesha and Avery. Their stories prove that there are definitely some things that money can’t buy!

Synopsis
Riana: Shawn and I have been in love with each other since our first encounter in college six years ago. Despite our share of ups and downs, the two of us have a bond that no one could ever break. No matter what, we have supported each other; so when Shawn accepted a position in Atlanta, I wasn’t too happy about moving, but I would do anything for him. With living in a new state, things can become very complicated. I know our love is strong, but is it strong enough to get through the issues we’re currently facing?
Shawn: I knew the first moment I saw Ri that she was going to be my wife someday. Although we had a few bumps in our relationship, we were able to get through them and is more in love than ever before. When I accepted a huge opportunity in Atlanta, I knew Ri wasn’t on board with leaving Baker, but she did it for me, which I was grateful for. But with new challenges facing us, including issues with my co-worker, I have to wonder was moving worth risking my marriage for?

SM: I currently reside in Tampa, FL – aka the city of the Apostolics!

SM: Poetry, Christian Fiction
AT: Nice...Are you a published author or aspiring to be published? If published, how many books are out there with your name on them?
SM: I’m published and currently there are 3 books with my name on them.
AT: What inspires you to write?
SM: Just my desire to vent without restraint.
AT: Name one book you wish you’d written.
SM: The book of Psalm
AT: What was the last book you read? Did you enjoy it?
SM: I don’t recall. Sadly, I haven’t read anything in a while. I’m looking for books to read though, I miss that past time!
AT: It's truly a wonderful pastime. Who is your favorite author? Why?
SM: That’s like asking me what’s my favorite song. I don’t have a favorite really. I appreciate all writers who have something to say and can spark a will in me to move forward. But if I had to list a few I’d say, A.W. Myrie because of her ability to connect with the entire family unit, DINA because the risk she takes in her writing, Adrienne Thompson because of her vast knowledge of everything and Lashanda Michelle because of the authentic capturing of human nature in her books.

Why writing is a form of personal Therapy:
My writing as a form of personal therapy began over 30 years ago.Sometime during the Jesus Movement in the late 1970’s I gave my life to Jesus. I was given a gospel track called The Four Spiritual Laws. God used that little track to open the eyes of my understanding and for me to surrender my life to Him. I have never looked back.
Just because you become a Christian and partner with the Creator of the Universe, it does not mean you will begin to live an easy life. In fact, it may be that all hell will break out against you to try to cause you to renounce your faith. Or just simple, subtle temptations come to entice you to compromise your faith.
I learned quickly that prayer and praise are very powerful weapons in our arsenal as Christians.
2 Corinthians 10: 3-5For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh.For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.
I joined a group of women who had a weekly prayer meeting. Believers who pray God’s word fervently and faithfully are sometimes called Prayer Warriors. These women were Prayer Warriors!
Do you remember the movie WAR ROOM, Miss Clara, played by actress Karen Abercrombie was a “simple” woman but a mighty woman of faith and prayer, A Prayer Warrior!
I felt like Elizabeth (played by actress Priscilla Shirer) whose marriage and life in general was falling apart but God led her to Miss Clara who taught her how to pray.
I remembered receiving journals for Christmas and birthday gifts as a little girl. They were usually pastel in color with a little key probably used to keep your little sister from reading all your hidden thoughts and telling your Mother. I hadn’t had one in years but remembered while in a Christian book store they had a wide selection of prayer journals.
I wanted to begin to write down my prayers, the cries of my heart as well as the blessings received. I wanted to be able to remember all the mighty works of God in my life and those I’ve prayed with and for over the years.
I have thousands of pages of journal writings over the years. Prayer Journaling IS my therapy.
If you have never tried journaling especially while praying, try it; you’ll grow to love it, resulting in a more intimate relationship with our Lord.

Mary Ann Ambroselli (chapter 1 starting on page 21)
On January 5, 1965, at 10:18 p.m. I gave birth to a beautiful baby boy, weighing 8 pounds, 10 ounces. I was told when the baby was born that I would not see him or be able to hold him, and that he would be taken to his awaiting adoptive parents. I also knew that adoptive parents often did not tell their adopted child that they were adopted, so chances were that he would never know about me. The morning after he was born, a nurse who did not know my baby was being adopted brought him to me and laid him in my arms. Another nurse came in right away and apologized for the mistake, and took him away. To this day, I am grateful for that moment. I was able to look into his face and tell him I was doing this because I loved him and wanted him to have a life that a two-parent family could give him. The image of his perfect little face is imbedded in my memory. To date, I do not know anything about him or if he knows he was adopted. I continue to pray for him!As I left the hospital with my mom, depression and sadness set in. I struggled with the meaning of life and what to do next. I did not want to go to church. Facing people there would be much too hard. Besides, all that had happened in my life did not reveal to me that God was loving or compassionate. And, I was sure He did not care about me. I spent my days crying a lot. I had six weeks from the day of my baby’s birth to change my mind about adoption, which I did consider. Dad said there was no way he would support me and the baby. Since I had no idea what I would do or how to support myself with a baby I decided that signing the adoption papers was best for all involved. Even though he may never read this, the following poem written for my son has brought me a lot of comfort.
Blood Mother Farewell I’ve carried you beneath my heart, and now must let you go.That you will not remember this, or me, as I do you.The years will take you even farther from my reach and view. AT: Where do you live? What’s your town’s claim to fame?
DK: I currently reside in Roanoke VA. My town’s claim to fame is my annual Christmas play production.
AT: What genre do you write?
DK: Urban Christian Fiction
AT: Are you a published author or aspiring to be published? If published, how many books are out there with your name on them?
DK: Yes, I am a published author. There are three books ‘out there’ with my name. (Pen name D. A. Kelley)
AT: What inspires you to write?
DK: Writing is my God-given talent, and that is my first inspiration. I’m also inspired with the thought of being able to reach someone and help them by the message I release through my words.
AT: Amen! Name one book you wish you’d written.
DK: The Coldest Winter Ever
AT: What was the last book you read? Did you enjoy it?
DK: A Sinful Calling by Kimberla Lawson Roby. I’m a big fan of hers, so yes I enjoyed it.
AT: Adding that one to my list! Who is your favorite author? Why?
DK: Oh my, I have many. Vanessa Davis Griggs. I write the same genre as her. I am intrigued with her delivery and execution of a story. She delivers an encouraging, uplifting message, but along with outright good ole story telling.
AT: Sounds like my kind of author! Now for the fun questions! You’re a new addition to the crayon box. What color would you be and why?
DK: I would be a color called Chameleon. It’ll be the crayon you use when the color you really want is not included in the box. The crayon itself would be ‘clear’, but when you color with it, it’ll be whatever color you need it to be.
AT: I love that! What would your autobiography be called?
DK: There’s only ONE Denise
AT: No doubt! Do you believe in love at first sight?
DK: Yes, I believe Love at first sight is a great possibility.
AT: If a genie granted you three wishes, what would they be? (can't ask for more wishes)
DK: 1) Health and Prosperity for my family and friends
2) For my creative flow to increase and NEVER deplete
3) Joy
AT: I can definitely identify with those wishes. Are you spring, summer, fall, or winter? Please share why.
DK: I am Spring. Things bloom in the spring. The earth comes to life with color.

DK: Coffee with my sugar :)

I had already started the ball rolling with one of my schemes. I didn’t have it all figured out yet, but I would feel my way through it and see how it plays out. I didn’t want to do things to hurt Claude, but I grew angrier and angrier with each passing day because we weren’t together. So yeah, I knew he wasn’t coming back to work today or tomorrow for that matter. I hated how he pushed me to do crazy things, but it would all be worth it in the end. He would learn to love me or I’d make him regret it.

Today's author interview is with KR Bankston. Scroll down and get acquainted with her and her work!!!
AT: Where do you live? What’s your town’s claim to fame? KRB: I live in Jonesboro GA, originally from Tallahassee FL. Honestly I am not sure what Jonesboro’s claim to fame is, but I do know that Tallahassee is home to a great HBCU, Florida A&M University and its world famous band.
AT: What genre do you write? KRB: I honestly do not like to confine myself by genre. I write the story that wants to be told. I have written erotica, criminal romance, contemporary romance, horror.
AT: You're not one to be confined to boxes, I see, a true artist. Are you a published author or aspiring to be published? If published, how many books are out there with your name on them? KRB: I am a published author with over 30+ titles to my credit.
AT: Wow!! What inspires you to write? KRB: My inspiration comes from life. I have always written in some form for as long as I can recall. Sometimes as therapy through the bad, others to share in the good, and everything in between. My imagination is a wonderful gift from the Divine Creator so I never try and stymie it.
AT: We definitely share in that sentiment. Name one book you wish you’d written. KRB: I cannot really say. I mean if you are referring to something on the market already, even then I cannot say. I am a firm believer that everything to be written by me, will be inspired and I will write it.
AT: What was the last book you read? Did you enjoy it? KRB: The last book I was afforded the opportunity to read was entitled, I’ll Be Damned, which is an autobiography of Eric Braeden of Y&R fame. It was a wonderful read. It was very enlightening and entertaining. I am glad I took the time to check it out.
AT: I love memoirs. Gotta check that on out! Who is your favorite author? Why? KRB: My favorite Authors are VC Andrews, and E. Lynn Harris. I love them both for the same reasons. They were masters of the serials. They could draw you in so deeply and passionately to the stories that you felt incomplete not reading all of them. I loved their use of language, expression, and description when writing.
AT: Love me some E. Lynn Harris! Now for the fun questions! You’re a new addition to the crayon box. What color would you be and why? KRB: Caramel Cayenne. Smooth and creamy on the outside, hot and fiery on the inside. Lol. I am very laid back person, pretty live and let live type, but if you push the right button, it will get very hot, very fast.
AT: Okay, we've been warned. LOL. What would your autobiography be called? KRB: I see this question asked often, and honestly I don’t know. Maybe something very simple as “And I Still Ain’t Scared of the Mountains Left to Climb”
AT: Sounds good! Do you believe in love at first sight? KRB: Yes! Now I can see anyone who thinks they know me laughing, but those who truly do will understand the answer. I am not the mushy romantic type, but hell yes I believe in love. Truly, madly, deeply!
AT: If a genie granted you three wishes, what would they be? (can't ask for more wishes) KRB: Health, Wealth (different than riches), Breaking of every Generational curse over my bloodline.
AT: Love it! Are you spring, summer, fall, or winter? Please share why. KRB: I’m a spring, summer, early fall type person. I love warmth, I love new life, I love watching the colors in nature change.
AT: Tea or coffee? KRB: Tea (by default). I still love the smell of coffee but had to break the habit a few years back.

Lol. I will only say small town, greed, arrogance, power, and progress, in regard to the content of the story.
