Coming soon to ABAM

Christmas is almost here, so allow me to gift you with news of what books are coming soon at ABAM.
Seeing as I have an incredibly overlong list of projects and titles I’m turning into books, it’s been a bit of a bastard to work out what to release when and how… but I think I’ve nailed at least 4-6 titles down, and judging by that list, this year forthcoming is going to be a little bit crazy…
As you hopefully know by now, we’re kicking things off with the YA thriller ‘@’, which launches Janua...

“@” book research & background on Pinterest

Delve behind the scenes of the upcoming Twitter-thriller book “@” with its very own Pinterest board full of book research that hopefully isn’t boring to look at.
Now, I don’t really get Pinterest as a ‘thing’, but it seems like it’s as good a place as any to collate book research, information, background and imagery that has informed the tone of the book.
Below is the link to have a gander at the type of subject matter we’ll be trawling through in the 35,000+ words of “@”, when it’s launched...

“@” Sample chapter

Welcome to the first sample chapter of the first BAM, “@”.
You can read it below, or download in a variety of ebook formats.
Our sample begins after our protagonist has handed her decisions over to Twitter, and starts to realise that maybe the groupthink isn’t as friendly as thought it to be.
Grab your copy of the sample chapter after the jump.

“@” book soundtrack

Each BAM is essentially a movie in book form, and the playlists are set out as such, winding and weaving you musically through the narrative.
You can follow this link to listen to the book soundtrack in your Spotify app, or spin through it below.
The soundtrack for ‘@’ features a delectable selection, from my dear friends Stealing Sheep to newcomers Luna, who I discovered at the Loveless album launch (who’ll likely be on a soundtrack down the line). There’s also some Mogwai, Emilíana Torrini...

Some background on writing “@”

This book, I’m ashamed to say it, was inspired by my own tweets…
1/2 Sometimes I look at my life choices & consider handing all future ones to my friends…
— Lee Isserow (@Lee_Isserow) August 24, 2015
2/2 … Then I remember who they are, and that it would most likely result in them telling me to punch a policemen, or eat gravel. Again. — Lee Isserow (@Lee_Isserow) August 24, 2015
That was it. Two tweets, essentially the same run-on sentence that murmured and mumbled deep in subconscious rece...

“@” book cover & synopsis

“@” is coming out in just eight weeks, so here’s an advance look at the book cover, and a taster of what to expect between the pages…
Synopsis:At twenty-one Cassie is in a dead end job and has just been dumped, whilst her friends are succeeding at school or their careers, and compared to her, are generally winning life.
On a whim, she hands the reigns of her decisions over to Twitter, and at first her followers seem to be making her life better.
However, as the instructions continue, they be...

At ABAM, every month is NaNoWriMo

NaNoWriMo, or National Novel Writing Month (as weirdo longhanders call it), is a curious thing to me.
It is of course very cool to give people an excuse to get that novel out, just as I’m sure ‘Movember’ is a great excuse to grow a mustache. But what if you already have a mustache and are already writing?
50,000 words is also an odd target. Sure, it’s the line where a novella becomes a novel, but not all stories have to be 50,000 words, just like movies don’t have to be two hours, and Netfli...

‘Relic’ – A Halloween short story

‘Tis the season, so it only seems about right to throw out a Halloween short story for your ocular or aural imbibement.
‘Relic’ is about an old man who cannot die. The last man alive, longing for death. It is not a happy story full of puppies and rainbows, but it is 100% rated PG.
You can download it via the links below, or read the whole thing without a download, and an explanation of where it (and the writing style) came from after the jump.

Welcome to ABAM: A Book A Month
It’s October, the clocks changed yesterday, and this project doesn’t officially launch for another ten weeks. So, this post might be a little lonely up here for a while whilst I prepare for the first ABAM release of “@” on January 4th.
Perhaps I should give you a little bit of background on who I am, what the hell this is, and why it is *such* a bad idea.
Hello and welcome to me: my name is Lee Isserow, and I work in ‘entertainment’. I used to be a writer, then became an editor, then a DP, a...
