How do you add a lifetime of books
Because I'm a relatively new member my profile isn't very complete. In an effort to begin filling out my profile I've been going through some of the Listopia lists to find books I've read during my lifetime so that I can add them to my bookshelf. It's much harder work than I anticipated.
I've never done a full count of every book I've read, but the number is in the thousands. My Goodreads bookshelf of "read" books is now just over a hundred and it is unlikely I will get close to posting even a thousand books. That's mainly because I've decided not to add any of the following:
1. Children's books that I read as a kid or that I read to my children. There are a couple of notable exceptions, especially in the YA category (SE Hinton books,for example), because I read them as literature and thought they merited a place on the shelf.
2. Books read so long ago that I don't feel I can rate them accurately.
3. Books made into movies and now I can't remember if I actually read the book or just saw the movie and thought I read the book.
4. Books that I flat out have forgotten reading. I'm afraid that this might be the largest category, a testimony to either the mediocrity of the book, my failing memory, or both.
Anyway, I'll keep going through lists and racking my brain for books I've read to keep adding to my shelf.
If anyone has ideas about other ways to search for books beyond skimming through the lists, I'd love to hear from you.
