One day last week, I wrote a letter to a local lawmaker about something near & dear to my heart: animal rights. 
Madame Mommy Dearest had actually given me the woman’s information & pointed out that she has a history of voting in favor of ethical treatment when it comes to animal-related legislation. MMD said she was going to write her own letter, but knows I’m better at that sort of thing, and was afraid that she’d be too wordy if she got started.

Last week, I mentioned seeing a podiatrist for the ongoing bout of plantar fasciitis I’ve been limping around with. (See, “it’s not a limp, it’s swagger”)

Drink of the Month

3 slices cucumber
1/3 fresh lime, juiced
1 tsp. sugar
crushed ice
3 Tbsp. cranberry juice
3 Tbsp. ginger beer
2 Tbsp. vodka
lime slice (optional)
With the end of a wooden spoon, muddle cucumber, lime juice, and sugar in a highball glass.
Add ice, cranberry juice, ginger beer, and vodka. Stir.
Garnish with lime.
