Muslims Plan Protest on 9/11…In London

imageWith a site that hypes up what they deem as the failed battle against terrorism and a graphic that shows a plane flying into the World Trade Center, Muslims Against Crusades and Sharia 4 America are touting a protest for the Moment of Silence Americans and American sympathizers will share on 9/11 at 8:46 am. But, their protest will take place in London.

The World Trade Center is in America. The tragedy happened in America.  If the war against terrorism has failed and as these sites claim, that Islam is taking over the world, then why not have the protest in America? In fact, do it right at Ground Zero where the twin towers fell!

No, like the cowards they are, they will hide out in London and make noise from over there. The war against terrorism has not failed. Islam is not taking over the world. It's like saying "Ta Da" when you do a magic trick. Your magic is weak!

All the hype the terrorists and terrorist sympathizers put out is layered with so many lies, they can't keep up with it. Most recently, we got Osama Bin Laden. Until then, terrorists have been running all over the earth like little roaches trying to get out of reach of the battle against terrorism.  How many people have we arrested and tried?  How many people have we hunted down and killed?

So, what I see is a lonely guy sitting in a run down building cut off from the rest of the world except for his small television and laptop. He types a message to the Muslims Against Crusades, "Tell the world terrorism is not dead.  It's not dead.  I swear to it.  Please, let everyone know.  Terrorism is not dead."

Maybe if he keeps saying it to himself, he thinks it will become true.  Your magic is weak! "Ta Da" says to the audience, "Hey, I've done a magic trick" when they should be able to see it for themselves.

I learned about "Ta Da" on the latest episode of Royal Pains, airs Wednesdays 9/8c on the USA Network. Watch "Ta Da For" on usanetwork.com right now!

Law Isn’t Always Right

imageWatching The Conspirator the other day, I wondered how our law ever got to the point it is now and if it still needs work. A movie directed by Robert Redford, The Conspirator is about putting on trial co-conspirators of the assassination of Abraham Lincoln.

Robin Wright plays the role of Mary Surratt, the mother of John Surratt, a friend of John Wilkes Booth. Mary Surratt runs a boarding house in which John Wilkes Booth and other co-conspirators are documented to have stayed plenty of nights and held meetings to organize a plot to kidnap the president. Obviously, the plan to kidnap the president turns into a plot to kill the president and John Surratt checks out of town.

The assassination went as planned and John Wilkes Booth was hunted down and killed, leaving in his dust several Southern allies who will be found and charged with co-conspiracy, including Mary Surratt. Of course, because of the fact that it was the president who was shot, swift justice is the only way to remedy the situation and to restore confidence in the government, the military and the American way of life.

This brings the discussion of law to light. The movie is based on fact and the trial of Mary Surratt was going to be held by military standards, by military officials, and conducted in a way that would undermine strides that law has made to be righteous. Military standards are very different from civilian standards. Military personnel are property of the U.S. Government and law doesn’t have to be conducted in the same manner as a regular court of law.

But, Mary Surratt was not military and even though the trial was about co-conspiring to assassinate the president, Mary Surratt should have been given the same rights as any other civilian charged with a crime. She should have been able to stand trial and be judged by a jury of her peers.

Reverdy Johnson, a Maryland State Senator at the time, argued before the military tribunal that Mary Surratt deserves to have a trial and be given proper counsel. His arguments were what makes our law what it is to this day and it makes the foundation of law look rather weak. But, we get some insight into what makes up our law. We get to see that it hasn’t always been right and that people haven’t always agreed with it. Johnson’s arguments prove that fact because they are after all, basic premises of law. The fact that he even had to argue them makes the whole law system look like it started on some real shaky ground and could have gone either way, the way it did or the way toward dictatorship.

The officials who ran the trial were blood thirsty. Seeing their attitude toward those standing trial, it’s a wonder they agreed to anything. The prosecutor had all the leverage he wanted while the defense had very little rope to hang. The prosecutor’s objections were sustained while the defense’s objections were overruled, without fail. It was a one-sided trial and it was blatantly obvious, not even an attempt to appear unbiased.

It reminds me of another trial. Paul a disciple of Jesus Christ, was arrested by the Jews and handed over to the Romans to be charged with a crime. But, the Jews had no specific crime. In fact, it’s interesting to hear how Festus presents Paul’s case to King Agrippa, “There is a man here who was left in prison by Felix. When I was in Jerusalem, the chief priests and the elders of the Jews informed me about him and asked for a sentence against him. I told them that it was not the custom of the Romans to hand over anyone before the accused had met the accusers face to face and had been given an opportunity to make a defense against the charge. So when they met here, I lost no time, but on the next day took my seat on the tribunal and ordered the man to be brought. When the accusers stood up, they did not charge him with any of the crimes that I was expecting. Instead they had certain points of disagreement with him about their own religion and about a certain Jesus, who had died, but whom Paul asserted to be alive.”

imageThese arguments are the arguments of law. They establish a documented sense of logic in approach to the law. For reference, Acts 25:13-27 is where you can find them. Festus understood the basic premise of law and how law should be fairly constructed. A charge has to be concrete, not a difference in theology. An accuser has to be able to face his or her accuser. A defense has to be presented. From there, we have further defined these basic premises.

A defense can be constructed by a defense expert. The charges have to be substantial and the prosecutor has to prove it. That’s what we hold to be our law. Paul got justice. Mary Surratt didn’t.

The weakness of our foundation can be seen in the lack of spirit for the law the military officials demonstrated in the “trial” of Mary Surratt. Even her own appointed defense attorney was reluctant at first. He didn’t understand why he had to be her defense attorney. He didn’t want the people to hate him or to judge him for “taking her side.”

He almost mounted a poor defense and at first, tried to get out of being her defense attorney at every turn. That is until Reverdy Johnson gives him an assignment, Mr. Aiken, Mary Surratt’s attorney played by James McAvoy, can be released of his duties to defend her if he can prove that she is guilty, a task he soon finds more difficult than it seems.

A person can only be found guilty if the evidence proves beyond the shadow of a doubt. There can’t be one ounce of doubt. Even when everything else says yes, not one thing can say no. This is another premise of law.

imageIt’s just that I find it remarkable how law has evolved over the years and how it got to where it is today. It took a few people with some idea of logic to present theories of law to others and to get them to agree. What were they fighting?

The “Shadow of a Doubt” is one thing. How many times have you just known someone was guilty? If the evidence can’t prove it, the person might not be so guilty after all. Of course, sometimes the evidence we need can’t be found. But, sometimes the evidence we have points to false conclusions.

Having a proper defense is another stipulation they were fighting. The scum of the earth deserves a proper defense. Who we perceive as the scum of the earth just very well may be the most innocent person we know, but we won’t without a proper defense.

A defense can be provided by the State. That might seem to run counter to fairness.  But, remember that there are three branches of government. The legal system itself technically is not the entity providing indigent individuals with defense attorneys. That money is coming from another source, making them an independent party to the legal system itself, which supplies the court houses, the judges and also the prosecuting attorneys.

But, people who can’t afford an attorney have every right to be provided one in criminal cases. Otherwise, our government could easily fill jail cells with indigent people. What good would that do?

Let’s see. Let’s say there’s a case the police can’t solve. It would be easy just to pick someone who is poor and charge them with a crime.  They would be found guilty and the confidence in the legal system would be restored.  That’s just one example why the poor must be provided an attorney if they can’t afford one.

Let’s say there’s a community of people the government wants taken off the streets for some reason. Maybe they are living on property where some rich and privileged individual wants to build. Maybe they are driving down the value of real estate in the area. Maybe certain government officials just don’t like them at all. It would be easy just to round them up and charge them with fallacious crimes. Who would help them? Who would be there to stop it?

Good thing nothing like that ever happens today…

How Freedom of Speech Really Works

imageU.S. District Judge Lynn Hughes told the director of the Houston National Cemetery and Department of Veterans Affairs officials that they could not block Houston Pastor Scott Rainey from invoking the name of Jesus Christ in a Memorial Day prayer.

Finally a Judge with some common sense on the matter.  But, I don't blame the Veterans Affairs Officials.  I just think that they are all confused.

The Separation of Church and State is simply a tool put in place so that  the Church can't have the say over laws we make.  Forgetting our history is one problem we have in knowing where we are going.

The Church at one time had the King's ear.  The Church dictated law.  In America, we no longer allow that to happen.  But, I have heard some ridiculous complaints come out of certain notions that some people have about the Separation of Church and State.

For instance, I once witnessed an argument where an atheist was saying that a pastor has no right talking to a senator about a law.  What?  Everyone has access to our senators.  A pastor who is talking to a senator is practicing the same rights we all have.  People of the Church are allowed to influence law just the same as any other activist, organization or individual.  It's just that the Church is no longer the final say or the lawmaker of any laws.

Another instance is just what I mentioned earlier about Pastor Scott Rainey praying on Memorial Day.  Here's how freedom of speech works.  You can't tell Pastor Scott Rainey what to say.  If you don't want to hear the name Jesus Christ at the Memorial Day prayer, you get someone else to do it in the first place.

The prayers that take place before Congress, the words on our dollar bills, the Bible that we use in court, none of these things even apply to the Separation of Church and State.  They have nothing to do with making laws.  They are tradition and people who try to remove certain rituals from our traditions are actually trying to change the country into something it is not.

The Expert Affiliate Racket

beach2011The normal psychology behind making money online in the affiliate marketing business is to offer good products and services to the potential buyers you can reach.  That goes without saying…even though I just said it.

Gratuitous Keyword Insertion –

marketing, marketing to, marketing solutions, marketing blog, marketing tips, line marketing, internet marketing blog, net marketing, internet marketing blogs, internet marketing promotion

Please keep reading:

But, what is going on when an affiliate is being touted as an expert? It attracts a lot of attention. It gets people hyped up about a seminar or course.  But, it's not the normal psychology.

When I first started writing online, I was connected to a few of these affiliate experts. I wrote their seminars and courses. Immediately, I realized the game and I want to spell it out for you because I want you to succeed.  I want your online business experience to be enjoyable and rewarding.  So, let's take a look at what goes on behind closed doors.

I've said it about a thousand times and I'll probably say it a million times more, but most of these marketing seminars or courses are actually marketing marketing to marketers.  It's a bunch of nothingness that goes around in circles.  It's like selling air and water.

Of course, you're saying, "They do sell air and water."  That's the point.  Online marketers are getting away with marketing marketing to marketers.

What is that?  Let's break it down.  Marketing is about putting products in the public eye, getting the message out there about a product or service.  So, marketing marketing is about getting the message out about how to market and to who…marketers.  Now, do you see how it's a bunch of nothingness?  It certainly isn't about getting a pair of shoes in the hands of a runner or getting a book in the hands of a reader.

When I teach marketing, I teach about actually selling products and services.  My first book about online business, Making Money: The Techniques of the Gurus, details how you can sell anything from t-shirts to bonzai trees.  Those are tangible products people can enjoy.  I teach beginning online entrepreneurs how to do that.  Download it now For Free!

So, having said that, those marketing courses don't teach you how to sell watches, computers or furniture. They are selling you, and I mean selling you, their marketing courses about marketing marketing.  For one, the niche is already saturated so tapping into it is highly competitive and trying to stand out in it is nearly impossible.  But, who would really want to anyway?

Marketing courses can go for as little as $200 and climb to $2,000, $5,000 and even $10,000.  I know one affiliate marketer who rehashes his old courses and sells them over every six months.  He calls them something different, but you're not getting anything any different.

I had this conversation with one of my clients a few years ago.  He bought two courses thinking he was going to get a more advanced version of what he had already bought.  Disappointed, he discovered it was the same course…different package.

Also, after he showed me what was in the course, I sent him my book that I allow people to download for free.  He was amazed to find everything in there.  He had bought one course for $695 and the other for $2000 to find out that the same information was in my book that he could have downloaded for free.

But, the real crime comes when we look at the seminars in Hawaii and Cancun.  Even Los Angeles and down where I live in Florida, these "Expert" affiliates love having seminars in places where most people take vacations.  Guess who's paying for their vacation?  That's right.  You!

A handful of affiliates get together in what they call a Joint Venture.  They throw their material together that doesn't amount to anything more than what I teach for free in several of my books and in my business articles.  They market the seminar to you, who thinks you're getting a major weekend training session.  So, you purchase the seminar and you make arrangements for a local hotel as well as travel.

What do you find when you get there?

(Let's assume that you have read all of my articles at the Blast and you've downloaded both my Making Money ebook and the Supplement from my Tutorials page.)

At the seminar, you will get:
A motivational speech to get you hyped about marketing.
Another motivational speech to get you hyped about the seminar that you already purchased.
Break for dinner.  That's a Friday.  Oh by the way, don't forget to purchase the book or DVD that is at the stand on your way out to dinner.
Saturday begins with a motivational speech to get you hyped about your day.
You attend one session before lunch, which to your surprise you find that you already know the stuff…because of the stipulation I made earlier about already having read my tutorials and articles.  Break for lunch.
You're thinking, "It's just beginning.  I'll definitely learn something after lunch."
After lunch, you attend another session that is just a step above what you learned in the morning.  And again, you already know what they are teaching you.  By the way, each "session" comes with a book or CD.  Make sure you purchase those!
Saturday wraps with another motivational speech that is designed to keep you there, coming back for more on Sunday.
I can't say that you won't learn one or two things on Sunday.  But, is what you learned equal to what you paid?
By the way, these so called "experts" are staying in nice hotels, eating great food and enjoying their evenings…at your expense.

For what you paid, you should be getting a crash course on marketing that should be equal to college credits at an accredited institution.  That's not what you get!

Can you imagine paying for the vacation of someone who doesn't know any more than you about online marketing?  They downloaded all their material and rehashed it as their own, they're being treated like an expert because of the hype and they're being handed vacations because you didn't know that it was all crap?

Here's the secret!  There is no secret!

There is no button you can push that will amass a fortune for you.  There is no software that can do everything for you in "just three simple clicks" or "five minutes."

To build a business online takes a little work.  You can set some things in motion that will work automatically for you while you do other things.  But, you'll have to put that together.

To make my point, my No Limit Cash Machine is a completely automated system that you can put together in a few hours.  It is a set and let system.  But, you'll have to build it first.  Then, you'll want to keep building because the more you build, the more you make.  The point is that you still have to work.  Nothing online is as simple as they make it out to be, even though making money online is fairly easy when compared to anything else.

Anyone who has ever made money online will agree with me that it takes a little work.  Even the scammers who are trying to scam you, if they could ever be honest about it, they would tell you that putting their scams together takes work.

So, don't fall for the hype!  That's all I am trying to say.  Look at everything that "sells you" and figure out why it is "selling you."

A few tips:

If you are making a purchase of an online business course or tutorial, look for contact information.  How do you contact them?  Do they have a refund policy?

If you can't contact them, don't make the purchase.

If they do have contact information, use it.  They should at least have an email.  Send them one with a question. Any question!  If they don't answer, don't make the purchase.

Also, do you know what you are getting?  If you went to the store, you would be able to look at the product.  If you buy online, can you at least get a preview of the things that you will learn?  Make sure you pay attention to this tip.  Affiliate marketers are great at selling you on hype alone.  Look at the hype objectively and see if they tell you anywhere on their webpage what you will get when you make the purchase.  Scam artists won't tell you.  Legitimate affiliate marketers will be more than happy to spell it out for you.

Random Thoughts from the Air

imageI took a flight from Florida to Maryland to see some family and friends I left behind when I started this new leg of my life. See what I just did there? Anyway, I was seated between two readers. As a writer myself, by all means I love readers. So, read away!

With no hopes of conversation, I turned my computer on to see what I could find on the internet and immediately saw that my battery was low. It didn't matter anyway because they charge for internet service and for only a few hours of connection, it costs pretty close to what I pay a month.

So, the laptop goes back in its bag and the next thing I think to do is connect to the internet with my phone. No signal at that altitude. I'm left with only two choices, sleep or think. Well, sleeping wasn't really an option. In that human mail tube they call a plane, it's really impossible to sleep unless you are extremely tired. So left with my thoughts, I thought I'd share:

In No Particular Order

Why don't we load planes from back to front? Don't you think that could save us all the headache? I know my knees would appreciate it.

Now I know why they invented cargo shorts…they're perfect for airplanes, especially the tuna can I flew. Three people were seated in an area that I would normally take up myself. Having my wallet in my cargo pocket was a relief when they asked me if I wanted something the drink. I took two.

If I were traveling at fifty miles an hour and I threw a ball at fifty miles an hour opposite the direction of travel, would it fall straight to the ground? If I threw it in the direction of travel, would it go twice as fast or would it come back and hit me square in the face?

I thought about when I was in the airport. I stood in front of the urinal, it flushed itself. I put my hands in the sink, the water ran itself. I put my hands under the dryer to have them dried for me. I can go from one end of the airport to another without moving. If we keep making the world so automated, soon we won't need any people in it.

Then of course, as always, deeper thoughts overcame me…

Upon the death of a friend, he will be missed. He truly lived. He attacked everything he did with such vigor. He woke up in the morning and got ready like he was doing an audition for the world.

He came to see me recently. I put him up in my spare bedroom. I woke up those mornings to hear a man who would hum to himself while getting ready for the day. He was a guy who dressed to the tee to go to the beach.

Our talks whether in person or on the phone were always small lessons about life. We had a thing we would say that I will share with you now. Embrace the struggle! We had struggled together at an earlier time in our lives.

I went on to write my first book. He went on to be a very in-demand car salesman who toured the country to promote sales. Both of us had struggled at one time, but we made it through. We said it back then. But, it made more sense to us in this stage of our lives.

He was content. He was going to propose to his girlfriend. He said that he wanted to be comfortable when he did it. He needed to be in the place where he is most relaxed. So, he was going to light candles and propose to her while he sat on the toilet.

I died laughing. I can still remember hearing his laugh. I'm sure my friend would agree when I say, there's no reason to be afraid of dying. Don't worry about death. Just make sure you do some living first.

I Should Be A Multi Millionaire Any Day Now

imageI have really been blessed, especially in the past year. I have received several emails a day from people who want to send me $50,000,000 or $90,000,000. I even got one for $110,000,000.

It's unbelievable how often my email address hits in some European Lottery. And my name must be real popular, because I am the recipient for just about every millionaire who dies in South Africa.

All I have to do is give these people my bank information and they say they will wire the money to me. So, I'm patiently waiting.

My bank account is all screwed up for some reason. But, I'll fix that as soon as my millions of dollars come. It should be any day now.

SEAL Team Six Deserves Medal of Honor, Osama bin Laden Deserves Labeled A Coward

imageSEAL Team Six of the "Naval Special Warfare Development Group" well deserve the Congressional Medal of Honor as immediately as it can be awarded to them …and bin Laden is a coward for cowering behind a woman to keep himself from being shot.

His actions in death go against everything he said when he was alive, which should be the ultimate lesson to all who follow him and his way of life. There is nothing righteous nor honorable in sending others to bid harm on innocent people while you hide yourself far away from any danger they might face.

Talking ill of the affluence around the world, then hiding yourself in one of the most affluent cities in Pakistan while forcing your own people to live humbly, deprived of any rewards life has to offer.

Saying to your people that you will go down fighting as a free man only to shield yourself with the body of another human being when we have finally found your hiding place and have come for that very fight you have been waging.

At least, Saddam came out of the hole voluntarily when we found him. You have been measured and weighed, and deemed not worthy…

Let's compare, shall we?

Just One Simple Trip

imageHave you ever had one of those days where you felt like you should never have left the house? Mine was yesterday. A simple walk to the grocery store for a few bottles of wine and you would think that could go easy.

Gratuitous Keyword Drop:

having a bad day, day bad, society, publix, shopping mall, supermarkets, supermarket, kroger, grocery store, shopping list, grocery, groceries

Please, keep reading…

First of all, parking lots are funny. Doesn't it always seem that there is never any traffic until you come along? It's like throwing football in front of your house. Your street could be the lamest street in town, never have any traffic. But the minute you try to play catch, the entire town wants to come through.

So, I'm walking up the road toward the parking lot and every car in the world is rushing through. I can't cross, not at all. Finally when I get across, now they're rushing through the other way. I swear these cars weren't even around a minute ago. Now, they're all over the place like roaches in the kitchen.

Plus doesn't it always seem like when you're driving through the parking lot, there's never one car leaving? You have to park a mile from the store because all of the good spots are taken. But try walking through the parking lot one time. Everyone and their grandmother are ready to run you over.

They beep their horns like you're inconveniencing them. And watch out for the person who isn't looking! They're texting on their phones while backing up and the next thing you know, you're part of the road.

In the store, it was much worse. I can't stand those people who stop, cover the aisle, then take their time to look at everything. No consideration for the person behind them. But let you do it to them one time, and they hem and haw like the world revolves around them.

I was happy to finally have my wine in hand and be standing in line at the cashier. But, don't you just love those people who have no consideration for your personal space? I swear the lady was trying to shove her cart right up my rear. Every time I edged forward, she took that space faster than a stripper takes your money. I turned around and looked at her, then I looked at the cart.

"Oh, I'm sorry," she said as she backed her cart up an inch. Then, the line moved again and there was her cart, right up my bum. What in the world is wrong with these people?

So, I'm out of the store and walking home. I was at my apartment complex in no time. I could finally let my guard down and walk quietly through the community.

We have streets that go all the way around the complex and there are parking spots on the side where I was walking. I've never noticed a parking curb because quite frankly, the parking spots are normally just painted with lines.

The minute I started walking with my head down was about the time I found the only parking curb on the entire lot. I damn near fell right on my face. I looked at the rest of the parking spots and sure enough, it was the only one on the lot. That's my luck!

I finally got home, locked the door behind me and sat down in my comfortable chair. I felt as if I merely survived my trip to the store. I had the idea that it was going to be an enjoyable day, but that idea was shot to hell when people were put in it.

Speaking of roaches, I learned a way to finally get rid of them. I don't have many because my apartment complex is actually rather awesome about it. They spray every other month with commercial stuff that kills everything. But, we do have little stragglers who would survive the nuclear holocaust.

So, I learned how to get rid of them too. Pour a little bit of wine in a container of some sort. Make sure it's a deep container, not like a small dish or anything. Make the roaches climb to get into it. They take a few drinks and can't get back out! They drowned in their own bliss.

I looked in the container this morning and I found a pregnant mother. With all of the warnings about drinking during pregnancy, this one just couldn't help herself and see what it got her. That's about a thousand little problems I just chopped up in my garbage disposal.

I'm going to try to stay out of the world's way today. No need to go out anywhere, I've got everything I need. Knowing my luck, that's about the time that the ceiling will fall in on me.
