Blood from a Silver Cross release date!

Many of you have asked me when the latest Kat Redding book will be released. I now have an answer!

Blood from a Silver Cross, the 4th book in the Kat Redding urban fantasy series will be release as an eBook from eKensington on 2/6/14. Yeah, it’s a long wait from book 3′s release, but at least it’s coming out! Early indications are book 5 will be out in June of the same year.

As I mentioned before, the book won’t come out in paperback form unless sales of the eBook are really good, so if you want to cuddle the book in your hands and smell the pages, get your friends to pick up the eBook copy–or 5. I won’t mind.

I currently don’t have the cover to share, but as soon as I do, I’ll be posting that here as well. As soon as I get any sort of news about the Kat books or any other works I’m working on, I’ll be sure to let everyone know right away! I’m still in the process of trying to sell this house, find a new house, and have had issues with my thumb tendon that has kept me from sitting around on the internet too much as of late. Hopefully things will settle down soon and all of that will change!

Until then, you can still reach me through social media and e-mail. I enjoy hearing from readers (and authors) so feel free to hit me up at any time!

Ohioana 2013

Okay, this post is a few days later than I’d originally planned. The Ohioana Book Festival was on Saturday, May 11, 2013 and here I am, on Tuesday, writing about it. I’m allowed to blame a headache on Monday right? There’s no way I was going to do much of anything on Sunday after such a long day!

But late is better than never.

I was nervous going into the festival because I’d never been on a panel before and yet, here I was, about to sit on one. Anyone who has ever seen me try to speak in front of people knows I tend to talk fast. Combine that with my soft spoken nature, it’s often hard to hear what I’m saying. I have to mentally try to speak up and slow down, but when you’re thinking about what you’re going to say next, well…it isn’t always as easy as it sounds.

Still, I think I did okay. I got to talk a little about horror, fantasy, and science fiction. I love all three genres despite the fact they are thought of as a lesser form of fiction (which was brought up on the panel.) For whatever reason, people look at these genres and think they aren’t as good, as important as other sorts of fiction. Only a select few ever gain credibility.

But I’m okay with that.

I guess that while I do believe there needs to be less snobbery from some of the literary crowd, I don’t feel that anyone’s word can truly make a book–or genre–have credibility. I mean, sure, it might be nice to have a novel spoken about as the next big thing, something that everyone should read because it will CHANGE YOUR LIFE!!!! But that’s not what I strive for. I write what I write because I like it. I want people to read it because I want to entertain them. I don’t need someone else to tell me that what I do is important. I already know that every story could–and more than likely, will–be important to someone, somewhere. That’s all the credibility I need.

Anyway, that was my mini-rant. Moving on…

I had fun at Ohioana, even if my tendency to keep to myself meant I didn’t get to talk to too many authors. I got to sell some books, have some conversations, and in general, take in the atmosphere. It’s always nice to be somewhere where everyone enjoys books.

Sadly, I didn’t get to go to the reception afterward. I had plans to. My panel happened to coincide with lunch and I decided to get my sandwich after my panel and a little after the next one started so there wouldn’t be so many people. By the time I was ready to eat, the food was gone. I wasn’t about to eat the stuff from the trucks outside because I was pretty sure my stomach wouldn’t have handled it. When the festival ended and it was time to go an get ready for the reception, my brain was hammering around in my head and I just wanted to go home. Headaches, for those who suffer from some of the worst, are not fun.

Still, overall, I enjoyed myself. If invited back, I’ll definitely go again. I hope the next festival is held somewhere where I get reception. I tried to Tweet about my experience as it happened,  but couldn’t get them to go through. I mean…an author without his or her phone? How could they?!

I’d also post some pictures, but for whatever reason, most of mine turned out blurry and uninteresting. I should never be allowed near a camera of any kind. It doesn’t matter if I am in front of or behind it, it will fail!

Until next time…

Kat 4 and More

It’s been a long time since I’ve had any updates on what I’m working on next or if there will be any more Kat. I’ve also received quite a few questions in that regard.

Well, I have an answer.

There WILL be a Kat Redding book 4 and 5 through Kensington! However, they are set to be e-book only at the moment. There is a chance that if they sell well enough, we could see print copies, but as it stands now, you’ll have to get your Kat fix through your favorite e-reader.

Now, I’ll admit, this isn’t ideal, but things could be far worse. I’m not going to complain. In fact, I’m thrilled I will have the opportunity to keep the series going at least two more books without having to try to do it myself. And if things do take off, then they will see print copies and everyone (hopefully) will be happy!

Book 4 in the Kat Redding series is tentatively titled Blood from a Silver Cross.

So what else is going on in my writing world? Well, if you check over in the events section, you’ll notice events being added for the year. I’ll be doing readings, selling books, and will be on a panel or two. I’ll be updating here more and more with more information, including what exactly I’ll be doing in case you happen to be in the area and want to attend. I’m a little behind on the full posts, but soon, you should be seeing more information.

Also, there is a little bit of news in regard to Little David LostThere have been a pair of online reviews here and here that have caused me quite a lot of relief! Trying something new is hard. Having people actually like it makes me very, very happy! That’s what I work for!

Want to read it? Well, you could buy a copy, at the link provided, or if you want, there is a giveaway HERE. I’m very interested in hearing what others think about the book, especially since it is such a departure from the Kat books.

So, that is that! There will be more Kat books and hopefully interest will grow in the standalone YA horror e-book. I have a few more projects I am working on, so hopefully something will come out of one of those as well.

Thanks for reading!

Daily Find and More!

It has been quite a while since I’ve posted anything here. It’s not because I wasn’t busy or even too busy, but rather, for a myriad of reasons. There wasn’t much in the way of news to report, I was having a hard time sorting through everything that had been happening, and my wrist and thumb decided to give up on me, making typing more difficult than it used to be.

So what has been happening?

Well, first off, To Walk the Night is currently the Nook Daily Find for March 20, 2013. You can also get the $1.99 price at Amazon for those who have Kindles.

After a few visits to the doc, my wrist is feeling much better these days. It was at the point where bending it even a little was impossible without some serious pain. But while the wrist is 100% better, my thumb still isn’t great. I can function fine, but my grip is weakened and even basic chores like doing the dishes is difficult. I’m hoping that in the next few weeks it will improve because I really don’t want to get another shot. But at least now I can type much easier and with my nice new gigantic phone, I can use Twitter on the go with much more ease.

As for my writing, I’m still hard at work. I have quite a few projects that I hope will turn into something, though I’m not going to talk about any of them until they do! And for those who are interested in more Kat Redding books, I do have the first draft of book 4 done. I currently do not have a contract for it, so I’m in wait and see mode for that right now. I hope to have some news on that front in the near future. And while sales numbers (thanks to me being practically invisible online for months now) for Little David Lost haven’t been great, the reviews have actually been pretty good. It was an experiment to see what would happen if I put a book out there through only my agency, rather than a publisher, but that doesn’t mean I didn’t put a lot of work into the book. Hopefully, if you haven’t already, you’ll give it a try sometime! You can get it at many e-book retailers, including Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

I also will be making appearances this year. Most, if not all, will be in Ohio, so if you live in state, or will be travelling through at the right time, stop by to see me! These will be listed in the events page as soon as the dates are confirmed with more information being added when it is available. At the time of this writing, only one event is listed, but I hope to have 3-4 more listed in the coming months. I hope to see you there!

Well, that about covers it for now. Not a ton of new news, I know, but hey…I’m sure the flood will be coming soon. It has to, right?!

Check out the links and feel free to get hold of me.

Little David Lost Errors

Little-David-LostOh boy…

So, here’s the deal. The Little David Lost e-book that was uploaded was actually the wrong one! There were mistakes made in the copy editing process that I’d fixed, but somehow, the wrong file ended up being uploaded. This file, while containing the same story, has far more errors, spelling and whatnot, than the other.

I’m not too proud to admit this mistake. I went ahead and checked through the manuscript again, fixing everything that was missed by the copy editor, and sent it in to be uploaded. The new version should be up on all of the sites by now! So, if you downloaded Little David Lost, check to see if you can redownload it.

Sorry for the inconvenience. I’m going to make sure nothing like this happens ever again.

If you have yet to buy the e-book, now would be a good time! It is only $3.99 and can be found at most e-book retailers, including Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Thanks for your patience and understanding.

Reviews ahoy!

We are only a few weeks away from the release of Blessed by a Demon’s Mark and the reviews are coming in! So far, they have been pretty positive. Even the reviews that were so-so had a lot of good things to say so I’ll be linking them here. I’m thrilled that people have enjoyed the book and really hope I can finish off the series in a way that will both entertain and satisfy everyone who has stuck with me this far!

You can find the book in most bookstores on January 1st, and can order it online in the usual places, such as Amazon and Barnes and Noble.

Below are the various reviews that have cropped up so far. I really do appreciate the bloggers who have taken the time to read the book and write their reviews. I do believe a big group hug is in order (in a non-creepy stalker-like way, of course.)

So…here they are!

Night Owl Paranormal

Between Dreams and Reality

Gizmo’s Reviews

A Book Obsession

Tome Tender 1

Tome Tender 2

And on top of that, I’ve heard the Romantic Times magazine had some pretty nice things to say about the book as well. I’ll be sure to link that the moment it is up online!

Little David Lost

Little David Lost is now available as an e-book!

I thought long and hard about whether or not to put this book out there as an e-book, but decided that in the long run, I wanted people to read it. It is my attempt at a YA horror and I’d like to think I did a good job with it. It’s quite the departure from the Kat Redding series, but I’m fine with that. I never wanted to be locked into one genre or one series. I like to experiment!

You can find Little David Lost at most e-book retailers, including Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Smashwords.

If you pick it up, feel free to let me know! I’d love to hear what you think.
