Toby's only friend. Read chapter one of DEMON ON JACKSON STREET before it releases! #Romance #MPreg #PNR #Books #Reading

Hello! It's only a few days before the release of DEMON ON JACKSON STREET, the fifth book in my Shifter Towers series. I've been sharing snippets from the story as part of Weekend Writing Warriors, but yesterday and today, I'm sharing the entire first chapter with you. If you missed the first part of chapter one, you can find it here. TW // There is bullying described in this chapter, as well as in other parts of the book.

Chapter One continued... Toby
As he dumped the rest of the milk into the sewer, Chad took out a can of the soup broth and whipped it at the abandoned car across the street, smashing the last unbroken window.
“Bananas.” Dan grabbed the bunch. “Do you and your granny get freaky with these? You know, if you need a fuck buddy during your heat, you can always call one of us.”
I swallowed the lump in my throat and wiped my eyes to stop the tears threatening to fall. What I needed was for them to leave me alone. And I never wanted an alpha like any of them. Even if I ever did go into heat. I’d rather be by myself for the rest of my life.
Benji knocked the bananas out of his hand and stomped on them. My food was being ruined before my eyes, and I could do nothing to stop it from happening. I’d tried before and ended up with a black eye and various other bruises.
Chad dumped the bag of noodles and the last can of soup onto the sidewalk before kicking the packages onto the road. Then he tossed the empty bag away.
“Let’s go.” Benji nodded up the street. “He doesn’t have anything good so let’s see who else we can find.”
I never had anything good, but at no time had that ever stopped them from checking. Sometimes I got home safely with all my food, but, on nights like this, I wished for someone to protect me from them.
As soon as I was sure they’d left, I walked over to pick up the package of broken noodles and the dented can of chicken broth. Everything else was ruined. We’d have to make do again, but at least there was something salvageable left this time.
I stepped into the apartment building with tears streaming down my cheeks. Why did this always have to happen to me? I’d never done anything wrong in my entire life. I went to school and had done well throughout my childhood, and, when Mimi got sick, I gave up everything to take care of her, finding the first job I could to keep a steady flow of income. Then my hours kept getting cut, and my grandmother’s home care workers kept canceling. I was doing so much on my own yet continued to get further behind. And now I had Benji and his gang after me for no reason.
I leaned against the wall outside our one-bedroom apartment and tried to gain some composure before going inside. I couldn’t let my grandmother see me in this condition. She often called me her guardian angel for taking care of her. Though, she’d done the same for me, raising me from a baby. I had no idea what had happened to my parents. No matter how many times I asked, she refused to tell me. She said I had her and nothing else mattered. But I wouldn’t have her forever. She got worse every day, even with the medication. And in the future, when she finally succumbed to her illness, where would that leave me? Would I get my own guardian angel?
I shouldn’t think like that. I wiped away more tears. I had to focus on her right now and not be so selfish. I had to be thankful for all I did have.
As I stepped inside, my grandmother called for me. “Toby, is that you? Why are you so late?”
“It is me, Mimi.” I put the noodles and broth on the kitchen counter then took her medication from my jacket pocket. Thank goodness no one had gotten hold of that. “Just got out of work a little late. Are you okay? Are you hungry?”
“I’m okay. I was simply worried about you.” She smiled at me from her bed in the living room. “I’m glad you’re home now. Marlene was here a couple hours ago. She actually showed up for a change. But I am hungry. Could you make me some soup?”
“Sure, Mimi. Anything for you.”
I’d have to ration our food until I worked again, but as long as my grandmother got something to eat, I’d be okay. I didn’t know how much time I had left with her, but I wanted to keep her around as long as possible. She was the only family, the only friend I had.
Come back tomorrow to read a snippet from chapter two, as part of Weekend Writing Warriors, where you will be introduced to Jet!

Read chapter one of DEMON ON JACKSON STREET before it releases! #Romance #PNR #MPreg #Books #Reading

Hello! It's only a few days before the release of DEMON ON JACKSON STREET, the fifth book in my Shifter Towers series. I've been sharing snippets from the story as part of Weekend Writing Warriors, but today and tomorrow, I'm going to share the entire first chapter with you. TW // There is bullying described in this chapter, as well as in other parts of the book.

Chapter One Toby
“Here’s your money.”
I took the bills from the shift manager as she closed the cash register. Forty dollars for a ten-hour shift. Not even minimum wage, but it was money I didn’t have to claim on my taxes. Money that would go toward paying for my grandmother’s weekly medication and allow me to pick up a few groceries as well. “Thank you. Would you like me to come in tomorrow?”
“Naw.” Becky waved her hand in the air. “We don’t need you again until Thursday. Eleven a.m. Don’t be late.”
I nodded, though I didn’t understand why she always said that to me. I’d never been late since she’d been promoted to manager after a month of working at the secondhand store or for the two years I’d worked there before she’d even started.
I grabbed my jacket from the staff room at the back then left the store. At the other end of the strip mall was the drugstore where I had Mimi’s prescription filled.
Mr. Gilli had the medication ready for me when I stepped up to the counter. “Good evening, Toby. How was your day?”
“Fine, thank you.” My response never varied. Because nothing in my life ever changed. I worked a dead-end job for next to nothing, and, when I wasn’t there, I was with my sick grandmother. Never anywhere else. And it’s not as if there would ever be any departure from the monotony that was my life.“Well, say hi to your grandmother for me.”
“I will. Thank you.” After paying for the medication and tucking it into the inside pocket of my coat, I walked through the aisles to get a few groceries. I picked up a couple cans of chicken broth, a bag of egg noodles, a jug of milk, and some bananas. At the cash register, I gave the last of my money to the clerk then took the paper bag of food and headed home.
The sun had already set, so I walked on the side of George Street with the streetlights. Some of them had been burned out for months, but it was still better than the dark shadows on the other side.
As I made my way to my apartment building on the corner of George and Jackson Streets, I continuously looked behind me to see if I was being followed. As an omega, it was imperative I constantly know of my surroundings. But being one of only a handful of non-shifters in the whole metropolis of Saramto made me an even bigger target for alphas looking to cause trouble. I couldn’t shift to escape danger or fight back, so I had no choice but to stand there and take their harassment until they got bored with me.
I was nearly home, only a block away, when I heard a wolf whistle. Heart racing, I paused, trying to figure out my best course of action. I darted around the corner, only steps away from the front entrance when the noise came again. From right in front of me.
“Look who we have here.” Benji, a wolf shifter who was the self-proclaimed head alpha on the block, stepped into the glow from the streetlight up ahead. “A lonely omega with a bag full of groceries for us. How kind.”
As his three cronies stepped out of the shadows, I clutched the bag to my chest. It was all the food I had for my grandmother and I until I got paid again. I couldn’t afford to part with it.
“So, what are we eating tonight?” Chad yanked on my sleeve then wrestled the bag from my arms.
Dan pushed me away as I tried to grab it back. He peeked inside. “Not much by the looks of it.” After pulling out the jug of milk, he tossed it to Mark.
“C’mon, guys. This is all I have.”
There’d been too many days recently where they’d taken all my food, and I’d gone without, sacrificing what I could find for my grandmother. Until recently, Lester, a racoon shifter from the neighborhood, would tell them to leave me alone, but he’d disappeared last month. And Mrs. Apple was too ill and bedridden to chase them away with her broom.
“You’re wrong.” Mark twisted the jug open then began to drink my milk. He wiped his mouth after chugging half of it. “It’s all we have.”
Come back tomorrow to read the rest of the chapter!

Zen’s reflection—or his mental projection of it—appeared beside hers in the mirror. He was staring at her. “I’ve bolstered your health, but this lovely form is all yours. The mental image you have of yourself doesn’t do you justice.”

“Mental image?”

“This is the first time I’ve gotten a good look at you,” he said. “Since you can’t see yourself, I had to rely on your memories.”

Liz realized he hadn’t been given a choice about bonding with her either. Would he have preferred a different host body?

“I’m afraid I’m no great beauty,” she confessed.

Her hair was light brown, without a highlight in sight. Any makeup she’d worn was long wiped off, and her eyes were an ordinary blue—not sparkling sapphire or something exotic.

Zen clucked his tongue at her. “You may not be a traditional beauty in your culture, but you’re lovely just the same.”

She smiled. “Well, if you and Voss are happy with my appearance—”

“We are.” He didn’t hesitate for a second. “Trust me. We both have excellent taste.”

“Thank you.”

“I’m anxious to see the rest of you,” Zen added.

“Oh. Um…” She glanced around the small bathroom.

“You want a shower, don’t you? There’s no need to be shy. We share a body, remember?”

“That’s true. I guess you have a right to tour it.” She licked her lips and grabbed the hem of her blouse.

Although she removed her clothes in the normal way, she felt as if she were doing a striptease.

“I wish we had a full-length mirror,” Zen complained. He disappeared. “Please look down.”

She did as he asked and gave him a view of her body from her breasts to her toes.

“Very nice.” Zen hummed in satisfaction.

Liz smiled. He was certainly good for her ego.

Eager to get clean, she hopped into the shower. After struggling with the controls for a moment, she finally figured them out and brought warm, clear water sluicing over her. She pumped some soap out of a dispenser on the wall and set about shampooing her hair.

Suddenly Zen was standing behind her, and his fingers were massaging her scalp.

“How are you doing that?” she wondered aloud.

“Magic.”

“No, really.”

“It is a form of sleight of hand,” he insisted. “I’m using your arms and fingers, but I’m manipulating your nerve signals and visual perception to make them seem like mine. Don’t you like it?”

“It feels good.” She would have to be stupid to resist this kind of treatment.

After she rinsed her hair, those soapy hands moved from her shoulders to her arms.

She sucked in her breath when he then cupped her breasts. “What are you doing?”

“Relax,” he soothed her. “I’m getting to know this body.”

A non-shifter in a dangerous shifter world. Read a snippet from DEMON ON JACKSON STREET #PRN #Romance #MPreg #MLM #8Sunday

Hello and welcome to another Weekend Writing Warriors post!
Thank you to all those who visited last weekend! It was great to see so many participants back! This weekend, I'm sharing another snippet from the fifth book in my Shifter Towers series, DEMON ON JACKSON STREET. It is set to release on January 18, 2021. Like all the other books in this series, it is an MM paranormal romance.
Set-up: Last weekend, I introduced you to Toby, sharing a snippet from the very beginning.
This weekend's snippet is from a little later on in the chapter, to share more of what Toby's life is like. Enjoy! (In Toby's point of view)

The leopard cats will play. Read a snippet from HIS OMEGA ON STAGE #Shifter #PNR #Romance #MPreg #Omegaverse #8Sunday

Hello and welcome to another Weekend Writing Warriors post!
Thank you to all those who visited last weekend! I've been sharing snippets from the fourth book in my Shifter Towers series, HIS OMEGA ON STAGE. Like all the other books in this series, it is an MM paranormal romance. This is the last snippet from this story. In January, I will start sharing from my upcoming release, DEMON ON JACKSON STREET.
Set-up: In last weekend's snippet, things started to heat up between Ash and Jun. And while things were finally heading in the right direction between them, they still had many bumps in the road ahead of them, including paparazzi, medical issues, unemployment, and family issues. At that point, there was still over half the book to go.
This weekend, I'm going to end with a cute snippet, where Jun and Ash are in their shifted forms, playing as leopard cats. They are at TK's beach house, where they have a little more privacy than in the city. Enjoy! (In Ash's point of view)

I raced across the lawn, trying to get away from Jun, though I knew he was much faster than me. Feeling his sudden weight on my back end, I stumbled before we rolled together through the grass. As soon as we stopped, he pinned me down, his teeth digging into my neck. I pushed him off with my front paws then turned over and bit at his tail. He spun around and chomped into my side. He didn’t have a good grip, so I managed to get away. Spotting the garden pond up ahead, I bolted for it then leaped into the water. Behind me, I heard Jun sneeze. He didn’t come in, only batted water at me as he tried to smack me with his paw.
I splashed and rolled in the water for a bit before leaping out and catching Jun by surprise. We tumbled over the rocks and back onto the grass.
**That's eleven, and here's a little more for your reading pleasure.**
I jumped on Jun, but he lay on his side, no longer playing. Was he done? We’d been out in the sun for a while, having fun in the privacy of TK’s beach house. Arriving last night after both working full days, we’d been too tired to do much of anything, except cuddle in bed while talking, until we fell asleep. We’d slept in, too, something I hadn’t done in several weeks. And then after lunch, we’d come out here to play in the yard in our shifted forms.
I circled Jun then chewed on his ear to see if I could get a reaction out of him. He swatted me away before stretching his legs. So, I shifted back to my human form then ran my hand down his sleek, spotted body. As both a leopard cat and a human, he was bigger and stronger than me, but so very gentle. When we played in our shifted forms, he never used his full strength on me.
When I was in high school, I’d always been told to stay away from him, yet was never given a valid reason as to why. We grew up only a couple of blocks from each other, though my brother liked to pretend we were bused in. He had a whole morning routine to not get found out until he had a solid group of friends and then didn’t care. They thought it was cool he came from a rough neighborhood. Though that never stopped Nex’s hatred of Jun. Not once did my brother realize the more he told me to stay away from Jun, the more I wanted him to be my future alpha.
Now, we were dating, and the possibility of him being my alpha was even closer. I petted him some more, enjoying his contented purrs. Then, in the middle of running my hand across his silky, soft fur, he began to shift.

Jun's walls crumble when it comes to Ash. Read a snippet from HIS OMEGA ON STAGE #Romance #MPreg #PNR #MLM #Omegaverse #8Sunday

Just two more snippets from this story until I start sharing from DEMON ON JACKSON STREET in January.
Set-up: In last weekend's snippet, Ash kissed Jun then put his head back on his shoulder like nothing happened.
This weekend, I'm continuing from where I left off. Things start to get steamy. Not graphic though. You can read the book for that. Enjoy! (In Jun's point of view)

I shook my head in shock, sure I hadn’t imagined it. “Are you really going to act like you didn’t just do that?” Sure, I’d told Ash that we should be friends rather than anything else, but I’d thought about him too much during the three weeks of no communication. And now that we were hanging out, I’d started to question whether I could remain nothing more than friends with an omega my leopard cat actually approved of, and whose scent comforted me, yet drove me crazy at the same time. We were both leopard cats. Perhaps there was a reason we kept ending up in the same place.
Ash squeezed my thigh before he chuckled. “After the kiss in the elevator, I’ve wanted to do that, but never found the right time. So, I took a chance.”
“Oh, so I guess you don’t want any more.”
**That's ten, but here's a little more for your reading pleasure.**
Because I suddenly wanted so much more, and didn’t know if I could remain on the couch with him before I found myself in a very uncomfortable situation. I couldn’t lie to myself. I yearned to be Ash’s alpha. Maybe not right away, but I needed to know if that was still a possibility.
He answered immediately, but not with words. Letting go of my thigh, he swung a leg over mine until he straddled me. He wrapped his arms around the back of my neck and rested his forehead on mine. “I will never say no to more kisses from you.”
Grabbing his hips, I pulled him closer and joined our lips together. His were so soft, and, while he seemed hesitant, maybe a bit inexperienced, he was quick to catch on. When he pulled away with a gasp, I continued to kiss down his jaw, to his neck. He tasted just as sweet as his scent.
He tilted his head back, giving me access to more of his bare skin. “You don’t know how many times I’ve dreamed of this moment.”

Staying for pizza turned into staying for a movie ~ Read a snippet from HIS OMEGA ON STAGE #Romance #MPreg #PNR #MLM #Omegaverse #8Sunday

Just three more snippets from this story until I start sharing from DEMON ON JACKSON STREET in January.
Set-up: In last weekend's snippet, Ash invited Jun up to his apartment for pizza. Still very much in denial about the possibility of a relationship with Ash, Jun reluctantly agrees.
This weekend, I'm skipping ahead again. They've finished the pizza, and Jun agreed to stay a little longer to watch a movie with Ash. Yeah, he's not ready to leave yet. Enjoy! (In Jun's point of view)

“Okay, then.” He scrolled through a list then clicked on one I hadn’t heard of. “I’ve been wanting to watch this with someone.” After tucking his feet up beside him, he leaned his head on my shoulder.
His scent hit me again. Hard. To the point where I felt like I did have that beer and several more on top of that. I tried so hard to focus on the movie, to follow along while the hero tried to save his abducted omega and children.
The sweet smell fogged my brain. Made other parts of my body more responsive though.
**That's ten, but here's a little more for your reading pleasure.**
Especially when, with every suspenseful moment, Ash’s hand moved. At first, he gripped my fingers. Then the tips reached out to my thigh. Eventually, his whole palm rested on my leg. And I had no desire to move it. Only needed to control my breathing and the racing of my heart. Not things a “friend” should have to be worried about.
“Jun?”
I glanced over at him, not realizing his head had left my shoulder. Instead, his big, beautiful eyes stared directly into mine. I gulped, trying to push down the urges of my leopard cat. “Yeah?”
And he kissed me. A quick peck on the lips before he returned his head to my shoulder, as if nothing had happened.

Jet looks nothing like the guardian angel Toby wished for ~ #CoverReveal for DEMON ON JACKSON STREET #Romance #MLM #MPreg #PNR

I'm excited to announce that the fifth book in my Shifter Towers series, DEMON ON JACKSON STREET, will release on January 18, 2021! It will be available for pre-order on Amazon soon, but I had to show you the cover right away. This is the last of the Shifter Towers series for now, as I've started working on a new series.

DEMON ON JACKSON STREETShifter Towers book five
JetOnce upon a time there was a demon who was the best at convincing people to sell their souls. That was me. Is me. And now I have a new assignment, one my Father told me would be difficult. I didn’t know what “difficult” meant until I met the young man, someone who has barely anything. Collecting his soul should be easy, right? There are so many things I can give him. Except, he doesn’t believe he deserves a better life. I have to find something he desires before the assignment is given to my brother. Because Crow uses the most villainous means to obtain souls. Lines I don’t cross. And I don’t want to see Toby hurt. There has to be another way.
TobyI’m not like them. I can’t shift into a predator to defend myself, or even into a small rodent to run and hide. The wolf shifters know that every time they rough me up and steal my food. I always wish for a guardian angel to protect me from them. Then one day Jet appears, looking nothing like the angel I’d imagined. But I don’t know if I should trust him. He makes me feel things no other alpha ever has. Dangerous things. Not good when I have to stay focused on my grandmother. I don’t know how much longer I’ll have her around.
