Sacramental Creativity

" Our art is our 'Ora et Labora' – our prayer and work. [ she told me] You don't have to be a monk to be a saint, but you do have to be an artist if you want to save your soul. "

Nookishly : Types of Writing

People write for all sorts of reasons. People have various intents. And people write with no conscious thought about the whither or wherefores.

But there are distinctly different sorts of scribbling, depending on the aim. One may have stumbled across them in uni., or hopefully before that. However, that sort of meeting rarely sticks, and rarely seems framed in terms of footwork, day-to-day application. It  just isn't a matter of relevance.

Only it is relevant.

Look.

Are you conscious about...

'Tis the Grey Days, Blaze

A salty sort of thing to overlook—the sea on a stormy day, rain draining greys into puddling dreys amongst the sandhills and the stones in the wind's lee. Who listen to rain? it tells totoro-trill stories.

It grows a day to small, and then inside, one finds the walls wider, dreams dearer, smells of cinnamon tea and damp air swept in from pavements doused.

You cannot describe a rainy day, or the sea, to someone who has never dreamed.  You can't tell a man the brine leaves prints like terns'...

The Breakfast Portable, Da?

In the same line as previous entry, this is recipe post. Sometimes, a portable breakfast is fairly necessary. But I don't like how I feel when I rake myself along the edge of short-time. And as I need to eat gluten-free, there's not the option of even whole foods eating out.

Anyhow, this is an excellent solution to needing something quick, gluten-free, and good.

CORN BREAKFAST QUESADILLAS …sans cheese, so mansanadillas

2 corn tortillas

1 tsp honey

1/2 banana

1/2 apple

1 tbs peanut butter, or...

Playing Pebbles (Sassolini) in Pembroke

Sassolini, Sassolini—

the old song's concetti

that down, and in, around

come fumbling

tumbling

ideali delle

but for me

E Bella, E Bella, Bellissima!

It's no use writing simply about pretty things. There are an excess of stories and writers, alcoves and covies in which people string out poetry as they'd string beads in an LSD-tripped haze. But if their point is pretty, there's a curious thing they lose: their beauty. Understandably, this comes off as contradictory—it's a sentence that gives pause, and for good reason—when I pause, I take the time to see. How can beauty if merely aimed at making something clever or lissome-lovely lose its b...

A March Through Town / Anniversary / of Children as Commodity

Rain, and clay-grey pavement to the sky—dappled concrete could as well be clouds—

but come tip-tap splashing feet, small, skipping through upside-down.

Balloons bob, red, above the heads, dripping fingerpaint colours

to the above-belows; and signs—they carry signs—

postage-stamp lines flayed by traffic noise, headlamp flares, slurred

minute messages, small as hands holding:

 life. speak. be.

protect me.

Falls into the sky—or just a puddle—small hands chafed, muddy

and mummy leans from down below

to...
