Emotional time of the year - A Tale of Love update

As most of you know, I've been working on the final part of the A Touch of Love series, A Tale of Love. I have the entire plot worked out and all the scenes down, they just need some fleshing out. I was hoping to have it done before Thursday, but because the book keeps on getting more and more complicated and longer. (I'm not complaining and I don't think you will mind either ;) ) I won't have it done before Thursday.

Friday morning I go to Ireland, sadly not for fun reasons, although seeing my mom and brother will be nice.

February 10th 2006 my dad passed away. So Sunday marks his 7 year anniversary and that is why I'm going back. I won't lie. This time of the year is pretty difficult for me. My dad was incredibly young when he died, 51 years of age. And I loved him to bits, he was an amazing man. Gifted and talented, but he never realised it. Cancer is a bitch, it doesn't care how talented you are, or who loves you, or even who you love. It just is.

He has been on my mind constantly, and it has hindered my writing a little. Not a day goes by when I don't think of him and wish he was still here. Its driven home even more so this time of year. He never saw me fulfill my dream of being a writer and publishing my work. He didn't even get to see me graduate university, or meet the man of my dreams. I remember the day he died as though it just happened. And then when I realise that seven years has passed, it shocks me. A lot can change in seven years and it has changed.

So I just wanted you to know, I haven't forgotten you, and I will have the book finished as soon as I can.

Always remember, cherish those you love and tell them how much they matter to you every single day... It may sound silly, but one day they won't be there anymore and life is too short to live with regrets.

Romance vs the Love Story

It's something I've been pondering as I write A Taste of Love. I've spent my time fretting as I write this book that perhaps I take things too far and that I'll frighten you all off. And so from that I self-edit all the time which holds up the actual writing part. Well I sat down and had a chat today with my mom (a truly miraculous woman) and she told me to cut it out. That all this worrying is bringing me down and making me depressed. The story is there for a reason and must be told in a particular way. (Now before I frighten you all, I want to reassure you that the book is not horrible in any way and it is still a romance ;) So no matter what happens have faith that I won't let you or the characters down.)

But she was right. The story needs to be told this way because that is the story in my head. I want my characters to work for their right to love and romance. I'm not writing sissy characters. But it brought something else to mind. And that is the difference between a love story and a romance. I strive to make my characters as real as possible. My heroines are usually filled with all the thoughts and doubts that I have. And if you've been reading my books you'll suddenly have a clear picture about how neurotic my mind can truly be ;)

But at the end of the day they get their happy ending. They work hard for it and more often than not horrible things happen to them, but in the end they get to keep the one they love. And that is the difference between reality and fiction. In reality there are no happily ever afters but only happily for now. What do I mean by that? Well I look at my mom. She had her happily for now. A real love story. My dad was something special a true gent and then seven years ago he died of cancer. Leaving my mom behind, utterly broken hearted. And some people move on and find new people to have relationships with, but not her. He was her everything. I think if I ever wanted to emulate a love in a book it would be theirs. (The same with my hubs but for the purpose of this post I'm leaving us out.)

And yes I realise all of this sounds very morbid, but I do have a point. Although theirs is a tragic story it is reality. And if I'm honest sometimes it's shit. Seeing their love story end the way it did, where she is forced to carry on without him has made me even more passionate about writing romance. In romance there is a happily ever after. My characters might have to go through terrible situations and have tragedy befall them at every turn, but in the end I can give them the end I want. Happiness. Love. Romance.

So that is where my mind has been, and it took that conversation to finally make me unstick inside my head. I don't need to worry about the story, it's fully formed and perfect the way it is. It's real, and raw and in the end, fiction, where everyone's dreams can come true.

Passionate Curves and a quick update.

I've compiled the entire four part Plus Size Model series into one complete novel called Passionate Curves. After doing this I've pulled the separate parts and now its just the novel that is available. I love the cover for it and the story is cleaner than before. I haven't changed or added any new content so don't worry or think you're missing out on anything. If you bought it as a serial it is still the same story as before.

For the New Year my plan is to only write novels. I already have two outlined and they're ready to just be written. I think you'll all really enjoy them! I'm hoping to have Heat of Desire the novel finished this week. I'd like to get it out for Christmas or just after it. And then I'll be working on writing A Taste of Love and A Tale of Love. They're both coming in January. After that I'll be writing the sequel to At the Billionaire's Pleasure.

Also come the new year I'm branching out into paperbacks. So if you ever wanted a paperback version of my books you'll soon be able to own them.

A Touch of Love and At the Billionaire's Pleasure plus a little extra

I did it! The spin off to At the Billionaire's Pleasure has landed at both Amazon and Smashwords. I'm hoping Smashwords distributes it quickly to B&N, Apple etc soon so you can get your hands on it.

I loved writing this first book. I find Heather and Aaron so interesting and the insight I have now on David and Carrie from Aaron's perspective is pretty exciting too. It makes me excited to get stuck into writing the sequel to At the Billionaire's Pleasure... I don't have a title for that yet so any thoughts from all of you would be much appreciated.

Anyway, I'm posting the cover and blurb for a touch of love and a added bonus. I have the final two covers for the series so I will put them up as a complete set so you can see how pretty all three look together :) And now I must dive back into writing the fourth and final installment to Desired by the Billionaire.

New Release, A Primal Lust A Fierce Love and upcoming release

Ok, so I actually published this book last week... I know, I know I'm late. I really think I might need someone to sit beside me and poke me with a stick or something until I get into the habit of doing all the things I'm meant to. Anyway, I have a good reason for posting late. You see, right after I published "A Primal Lust, A Fierce Love", I started writing again. And I'm a hair's breath away from finishing the first installment of "A Touch of Love" which is the spin off series to At the Billionaire's Pleasure. I'm super excited about this and those of you who wanted to know a little more about At the Billionaire's Pleasure won't be disappointed either.

You see A Touch of Love occurs in roughly the same time frame as At The Billionaire's Pleasure. It will continue on after the point of which I ended AtBP but David and Carrie do play a part in it. Anyway I'll be releasing that book this weekend :) so I thought that might be some good news for you.

Back to the original topic. A Primal Lust A Fierce Love is now available for purchase. I went ahead and wrote the entire book rather than releasing each piece as a serial. It just felt right for this book.
