Elevator Action Returns is the Dystopian Elevator Game We Deserve

I wrote a whole explanation of why Elevator Action Returns is maybe my favorite game ever, which you can read over at Barnes & Noble: “It’s a much darker, more dystopian Elevator Action, in which you can get a rocket launcher and light half a dozen opponents on fire at once, while exploring a downed aircraft, a warehouse, and a ton of other settings. Society is doomed, but at least we’ll have fun in the ashes.”

A witch meets a mad scientist, and...

When I came up with the big idea of a book about a witch and a mad scientist, and what happens between the two of them, I was kind of thinking of it as a silly romp. The witch and the mad scientist are friends and rivals, and they’re always competing and trying to one-up each other. Maybe they could set traps for each other! Or have battles of wits, or something. I thought of it as a wild and crazy ride, in which the witch and the scientist keep coming into conflict in more and more insane ways. But this book didn’t really click for me until I started to think of it as being about a friendship, and getting into what it’s like to be friends with someone who’s unique in a different way than you are. What it’s like to feel totally alone except for this one other person who doesn’t get what you’re going through at all—except that they can kind of compare it to this equally weird thing that they, too, are going through.

“Magazines have a duty to their readers and to the writers they publish. Readers pay for a magazine to exist, and the writers provide the work that makes up the magazine. Magazines have limited resources and can, and should, focus them on creating a great magazine that people will want to read as well as in getting exposure and hopefully money to their writers and artists.”

That’s a Borzoi, though I think the cat’s a British Blue rather than a Russian one.

There should be a folktale behind the picture, and it should involve an amiable young prince or peasant, probably called called Ivan, who isn’t very bright but gets on well with animals even if they can often talk better than he can.

He does look like a British Blue!  My folks have one…really cute but a total arsehole :)

Yay, this reminds me of the Doctor Who episode where the cat people ride on horses. Also, my cat is a Russian blue and looks a bit like this for sure. But he is not an asshole!
