Finally the Geek Gets the Guy!!!

If any of you have ever felt like an outsider, or a geek, THIS book is for you!
I have long felt that one of the reasons women read or write m/m fiction is because they have a connection to the outsider, the person on the fringe of society, those less than acceptable to the "beautiful people." Perhaps because we were teased in school, unpopular, or just terrified of lunch hour. Maybe some or all of the above.
For me, I have always related to people who are not society's ideal because I have never felt that I was the ideal. That is why I had such a wonderful time writing Jason Lewis, the hero from my latest 1Night Stand THE BEST EVER. I can relate to his self doubt, his awkwardness. Where I personally rely on talking to hide my awkwardness, Jason just reverts into himself. In THE BEST EVER, Jason--the nerd--gets the guy and the Happily Ever After.
I hope you enjoy this story as much as I did!
BLURB: Jason Lewis is a self-proclaimed nerdy guy who hates his red hair. Bullied most of his life, at 22 social situations still make him awkward. On a trip to the World Video Game Expo in Las Vegas, Jason decides to enlist the help of Madame Eve in his failed romantic endeavors. While at the con, he runs into sexy, professional baseball pitcher Blake Huntington, the guy he tutored in high school. Blake invites him to a party and after hanging out with his high school crush, Jason begins to regret booking his 1NS "encounter" later that night. But Madame Eve may have planned the best night ever

EXCERPT: From the corner of his eye, he noted the sheets on the king-sized bed had been turned down and a strip of condoms lay on the nightstand next to a bottle of lube.
Suddenly, the illicit nature of the whole evening hit him. Sweat broke out on his skin. Shit, why had he bothered to shower? He took a quick whiff of his pits. Thank God, his deodorant was still on the job.
Where was this guy? What if he turned out to be old? Who hired this kinda service anyway? And who used an alias as lame as John Smith?
Suck it up! You can do this. He may have been a gangly nerd in high school but he’d taken up karate, per Blake’s suggestion—dammit! Stop thinking about professional baseball players you’ll never stand a chance with. This is about going after what you want!
The bathroom door opened, and he smoothed his shirtfront, trying to be presentable.
A man walked out, towel-drying his hair.
Jason sucked in a sharp breath, and his dick stood up and took notice of the big, athletic body, fresh from the shower. Tanned and muscular. Water streaked furrows into his perfect layer of chest hair. A skimpy towel hung from narrow hips, a solid thigh peeking out from the side, but his face remained hidden.
#holycrap #hotness
“Sorry, I kept you waiting,” the man said, slow and seductive. “I figured, why waste time getting dressed.”
Then he dropped both towels in a practiced maneuver, standing there in all his naked glory. Jason’s gaze traveled from his feet, up those long legs, past a thick cock and over a perfectly chiseled abdomen.
When their eyes met, the man’s sly grin faded in an instant. He gasped, hazel eyes wide.
Jason let out a gasp of his own. “Blake!”

Deanna Wadsworth might be a bestselling erotica author, but she leads a pretty vanilla life in Ohio with her wonderful husband and a couple adorable cocker spaniels. She has been spinning tales and penning stories since childhood, and her first erotic novella was published in 2010. When she isn’t writing books or brainstorming with friends, you can find her making people gorgeous in a beauty salon. She loves music and dancing, and can often be seen hanging out on the sandbar in the muddy Maumee River or chilling with her hubby and a cocktail in their basement bar. In between all that fun, Deanna cherishes the quiet times when she can let her wildly active imagination have the full run of her mind. Her fascination with people and the interworkings of their relationships have always inspired her to write romance with spice and love without boundaries.

Review of The Best Ever by Deanna Wadsworth

4.5 out of 5 ★'s
Jason has always been a geek, a red-headed geek at that. High school was just a bad memory that he's tried to forget. To temporarily escape a life that still isn't going his way, Jason attends a gaming convention to meet up with his online WoW friends, hoping to catch a glimpse of the star of the newest pitching game while he's there. And since what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, he books an encounter through 1 Night Stand. He's tired of being unable to get a date and while this isn't love, it looks like a sure thing.
Blake is now a professional ball player, but once his dream of making the cut rested on improving his math grades with the help of his tutor Jason. When Jason walks up for an autograph, Blake is ecstatic and invites him to the spondsored party after the signing.
Jason shows up, but rapidly feels out of place surrounded by jocks. All the insecurities of his youth he had thought he'd left behind come roaring back and he heads for the door. But Blake catches him and they spend a couple hours enjoying each other's company. All too soon the hour of eleven approaches and they have to leave. Both men contemplate cancelling their encounter to continue reconnecting with a friend, but decide to meet up the next day instead.
Madame Eve's assistant Deanna Wadsworth brings together her third couple in this loosely linked series. As with the previous offerings, her characters are not just the standard geek/jock pairing. The characters have quirks that make them uniquely hers.
Even though this is a 1 Night Stand story, it is not about a one off. The sex is sweet and endearing. The men share a depth of caring not often seen in short works without resorting to instalove. Jason and Blake can now explore the feelings they had for one another, but were too young and inexperienced to deal with before.
I always enjoy Ms Wadsworth's sexy, quirky tales of finding love where you least expect it.

I'm back!

In case, anyone wondered where I had gone,  Blogger hasn't let make any blog posts or edit previous posts. And it's only taken me two months to figure out why the hell I couldn't. It must be my residual blondeness showing through.

Would you believe that it was one of those lovely new "improvements" Google made? It was the stupid Google search bar that showed up on my blog one day. I didn't add it and it's a shame it took me this long to disable it, but there you go. Silly me! I just thought it was part of the new Blogger.

But it's gone and I'm back in business. I'll be making posts once more.

Rian's Return by Raven McAllan

From Raven…You know when stories niggle you? You know they have to be told? Yeah that time.
So you write them, have them published in an anthology, and they keep shouting. Oy! We want our own book and cover. We're four guys who are all important to each other…
Rian's Return was like that. Luckily my publisher, editor and I agreed the two stories needed to be together in one book. I can only hope you all agree as well.
Although the book is called Rian's Return, it's more than just about Rian. We've got Sam and Ed and Ali as well, and it's put on April 12th.
Just who wants who and how…? Well you'll need to read these two stories—Elusive Exclusive and Rian's Reward to find out…
Blurb:  Four men or two couples. Sam, Rian, Ed and Ali. Could they work it all out?
Sam knew it was time to move on. Ed seemed the very person to help him.
Would they manage to overcome the obstacle in their way? Namely Rian.
Rian is devastated. Just because he'd sent a Dear John email—or should that be a Dear Sam—did Sam have to accept it?
Ali couldn't believe his eyes when he saw the one guy he'd lusted after all those years earlier, walking along the street in the rain. Could he persuade Rian it was time to move on and get his reward for doing the right thing?
Excerpt: Sam watched as Ed stood frowning, looking at the washing machine.
"Can you run this empty?" Ed asked him.
"I guess so, that's how you clean it. Why?"
Ed didn't answer directly. "Just come over here a sec, will you. Nice, okay, my turn now? Yeah?" Sam nodded. "Great. So lean your front against the machine then—oh, yeah. Get that lovely cock right up against it."
Sam did as he was told, feeling the cold metal against his body, as the sensation of his robe falling to the floor left him exposed. Cool air feathered over his body. There was a shuddering motion as the machine began its cycle, sending pulsating sensations into his penis. His cock swelled, and hardened.
"Don't move," Ed warned. "It's going to get even better now. Trust me."
The machine rubbed and stimulated Sam as his lover opened and stretched his ass. The gel's cool sensation had him shuddering, and he pushed himself away from the tremors and into Ed's hands. He was firmly pushed back toward the metal, as pressure was applied to his behind. He could feel himself being stretched, felt Ed gently push his penis into his tight opening. Gradually, like a flower in bud, he felt himself opening ever wider as Ed moved deeper. With one fast push, Ed was in.
"Jes-us." He felt himself tighten, involuntarily trying to push Ed out, before he relaxed, rode with the pain and it became pleasure. He moved, pulled Ed in further, begged, sought, and asked for more.

Review of Leather+Lace by AB Gayle

★★★★★ Five out of five stars.
I literally couldn't put it down! For anyone interested in a great story, I can't recommend Leather+Lace enough.
I love, love, love Stevie. He is an irreverent smart ass with a wonderful sense of humor. He's been through Hell and it may have twisted him a bit, but it didn't break him.
Master D, or Don the Dom as Stevie dubs him, is a bad ass. Or is that bad ass wannabe? He may know his way around Harleys and leather, but he's no stranger to the softer side of life.
Stevie Tricks may be a female impersonator and Don may be a Dom, but the story is not about BDSM or drag queens. It is about learning to trust again. The elements of both drag and BDSM are very limited.
So leave your expectations behind and enjoy the journey. But be sure to get everything you need handy before you open that first page because I pretty much read it straight through. And at roughly 300 pages, it is by no means a short story.
AB Gayle also put together a Stevie Nicks Leather+Lace playlist on YouTube of all the chapter titles. Something to listen to as you read the novel.

Drag Queens Rule, Okay?

One of the stars of “Leather+Lace” is the Hotel Paradiso. The opening scenes take place in the run down hotel up near Sydney’s notorious Kings Cross.
According to my story, the venue is under new ownership and celebrates the fact with a charity fund raiser. Stevie Stanhope, aka Steven Lindsey Stanhope (when people are pissed off at him) or Stevie Tricks (when in drag) is there in two capacities: as a participant in “Blowjob for Bucks” promoting a new range of flavored condoms especially designed for oral use, and to perform three Stevie Nicks numbers.
Drag is a very obvious part of Sydney’s gay nightlife. Later in the story, I mention two of Sydney’s much loved drag queens: Amelia Airhead and Minnie Cooper. These represent two distinct shades of the drag spectrum. Amelia, (who is just as gorgeous in real life) is the truly glamorous variety. Not trying too hard, just disgustingly beautiful. Minnie Cooper on the other hand (who I've never seen out of drag so I can’t comment here) is more the in-your-face bitch-queen-from-hell variety.
There are a few venues around that they perform at. Thursdays are drag nights at Arq described as Sydney’s best gay nightclub. That’s where artists like Minnie Cooper can be found doing shows like ‘A Tribute to Katy Perry’ or a ‘Tribute to Britney’ (another favorite target).
Another version of the drag queen is Daniel Cater’s alter ego, Dallas Dellaforce. Daniel sees himself as a Performance Artist rather than a drag queen. He is a keen student of glamour and recently sold out three nights of a show dedicated to this. He goes for “effects” and a certain look that he is trying to create. He also creates his own costumes. He attended the recent Mardi Gras (our Pride event) after party as Barbie and recreated one of her costumes. He’s fascinated by the Super Models like Linda Evangelista and manages to recreate their looks.

Note the scraps of material on the floor in the above picture and he made the gown based on the Aussie and Aboriginal flags. The thing I like about Daniel is that he can do the "effect" the other way and be the butchest male around as seen on the poster for a recent Sleaze Ball and another from a recent shoot. His more how I see the male version of Stevie...
The final type of drag queen is the female impersonator, where it’s a musical performance and not so much cross dressing to scratch a sexual kink. That’s how I see Stevie. The clothes and the make-up give him the permission to break out of the straight jacket that he’d been forced into, but he still stays as close to the original as he can. Who, let’s face it, is beautiful and all the clothes and flowing scarves can hide his tattoos and butch physique.

We don’t have any Stevie Nicks impersonators in Australia, but the US have a “Night of a Thousand Stevies.” http://www.mothernyc.com/stevie/ A guy called Todd Stephens did a fantastic rendition.

Drag queens and the guys who do drag have to be tough and usually are tough. They've had to be in life to survive. Rush Derr IV one of my Facebook friends is a great example and helped me a lot by describing his routine for getting ready for a performance.
And for those who have been curious about how they manage to hide everything so effectively. When they’re cold a guy’s balls draw up into a cavity within their pelvis. So they can tuck them into their. Then they wedge their penis back into their ass crack. Some use tape to fix it into position, others just wear tight underwear. Stevie’s flowing clothes would have hidden that aspect, but according to Rush, any drag queen who doesn't tuck is not really a drag queen.

The contrast to the Drag Queens are the Leather Men who have parties like this: Note the ban on cologne (also expressed as “closed toe nights”).

So, I’d love to hear from readers what they think about drag queens. Love ‘em or hate ‘em? I’ll give away an ecopy of “Leather+Lace” to a lucky respondent.

Leather+Lace Blurb: Swathed in chiffon and lace, Steven Stanhope owns the stage as Stevie Tricks, lip-synching the songs of the famous gypsy queen. But after he escapes an abusive Master/slave relationship, the only collar he'll allow around his neck is black velvet.
After a four-year absence, Steve is ready to reclaim his life and the property he left behind. But is it safe? Definitely not if his ex is still into leather. To find out, Steve appears at a charity night for the local BDSM community, using the anonymity of his stage persona to mask his identity.
Instead of his ex-Master, Julius, Steve finds a tangled mess centered around another Master of Leather, Donato Rossi. In order to unravel their ties to the past, Steve and Don must find common ground and work together. In the process, they learn that when it comes to love, sometimes you have to make your own rules.

Apollo's Men

The series Apollo's Men is centered around pederasty and the strongly homocentric culture of 5th century BC Greece, when women were sidelined in most of the city-states. Sparta was an exception. Spartan women were trained to be matches for their men, to be athletic and educated. "Because only Spartan women give birth to real men."

In Homeric fashion, the gods and all their lesser brethren are real. Apollo walks the world Alexios, Galen, Lykos, Theron, and Andreas inhabit. He is not a benevolent omniscient deity. He is more a personification of his attributes as the Lord of Light (notice that is not the sun god, Helios), healing, music and the arts, and of course prophecy. He has a darker side as do all the Greek gods, having all the personality flaws that men, ie humans, do.

Alexios' Fate is the first book in the Apollo's Men series. This is where we meet Alexios and Galen. Alexios is the heir to the city-state of Dicaea. Galen was purchased as a birthday gift a decade before when Alexios has still an eight-year-old boy. Together they learn more about themselves and each other in the face their own mortality.

496 BC, Apollo's Men #1.5, continues Alexios and Galen's saga. This story gives us our first look inside Galen's heart and mind, exploring his feeling for Alexios, his new status as a recently freed slave, and his antipathy toward his lover's mentor. As well as giving a better view of slavery, class status/distinctions, and the homocentric nature of portions of the ancient Greek world.

Taming Theron, Apollo's Men #2, is the story of Andreas, a Spartan helot, who finds that food is the way to a man's heart. He sets off to "seduce" a young elite Spartan warrior, but may have bitten off more than he can chew. Taming Theron is off with my second beta reader. When he comes back, I will address any changes/suggestions she makes and get it ready for submission.

In the meanwhile, I've started A Spartan Love, Apollo's Men #3. This tale continues the story started in Taming Theron. Theron fears that his relationship with Andreas has been compromised, placing Andreas' life at risk. He has to make some life-changing decisions, and fast.

Apollo's Men #4 is still unfortunately without a title. The rough draft is approximately 3/4 finished. But when I realized that Taming Theron and A Spartan Love preceded it chronologically, I put it on hold and started with the other works.

Apollo's Men #5 adds another couple to the mix, but I think I'll wait a little longer before revealing who they are. I've got to have something to surprise you with.

My First Dead-Tree Book

My latest Alexios/Galen short story, 496 BC, will be appearing in MLR Press' anthology Lust in Time. The ebook version will be available February 22nd. The dead tree book comes out on March 2nd.

The story takes place on the Attic coast after Alexios and Galen set sail with King Lykos on his way to deliver Cyrus to Delphi. The title is actually the year the events take place. I had the series set roughly during that decade, but the naming of the stories in the anthology required an actual date. So I buckled down and did some research on the Persian War, structures present at Delphi during that era, and what city-states were overrun by the Persians at different times. There is a little slop (pool term) in there, but that is the closest I can come to an actual date that gets me every thing I need in this story and the series in general.

But the most important aspect of this story is it gives us our first look inside Galen's heart and mind, exploring his feelings for Alexios, his new status as a recently freed slave, and his antipathy toward his lover's mentor. As well as giving a better view of slavery, class status, and the homocentric nature of portions of the ancient Greek world.

ARe's Number 1 Historical Medieval Romance

From the Ashes is number one in ARe's paid Historical Medieval Romances! It's the little story that could.

Cinder and his prince have been in the top ten for the past three weeks and steadily climbing. I was beginning to think he wouldn't get any higher than two, but he's finally done it. I couldn't be more pleased.
