Excerpt:Before the driver could pull the car out of the parking lot, Jillian was talking a mile a minute. Paige seemed to be following it all, but Erin felt lost while she watched them banter like a tennis match.

ExcerptYawning, he settled more comfortably into the seat and embraced the lulling haze. His mind wandered to the day Mina had showed up for an interview. In a departure from her current fashion slump, she’d worn a short skirt suit and glossy-black high-heeled pumps. On her way out, she’d swung by his office to drop off his major weakness—Shanghai White Rabbit Creamy Candy. He’d given her a high five and wished her luck. That day, she’d stayed for no more than a few minutes and had left the door open. But in this foggy, slumbering vision somewhere between the dreams he could never recall and actual memory, he reached over her shoulder to shut it. ~A mischievous grin on her face, she tilted her head back and met his gaze. “What do you want, Jack?” He lifted his index finger and placed it over his lips. “Shh....” Sashaying past him with feline grace, she shrugged off her jacket to reveal a crimson silk blouse. After draping the discarded garment over an office chair, she turned to face his desk. Placing her palms on the suddenly clutter-free glass, she threw him a sideways glance and motioned him over with her head. The warmth of balmy fall allowed her to show off those smooth, toned legs. The tailored dark-green cotton hugged her ass’s subtle curve, the back slit giving him glimpses of her creamy thighs. Coming up behind her, he closed one palm over her mouth. She remained still, her small body trembling as he nibbled her neck. He grazed his teeth over the slender slope, pausing to suck a bright-red hickey onto her snowy skin. Hearing a muffled moan, he clamped his fingers tighter as he slid his other hand under her skirt. Finding damp heat, he yanked down her panties. The scarlet lace fell to circle her four-inch heels. Biting her earlobe, he whispered, “Stay quiet, or everyone will know I’m fucking you.” With one hand, he unbuckled his belt and freed his erection, his other arm still holding her in silent captivity. Why Heroines Never Do Housework

It looks like autumn is about to come to an abrupt end in Georgia. It’s been warm for the most part, but colder temps are moving in. The leaves here in Marietta have been absolutely gorgeous. Slowly, they are helicoptering down to make a soft ground cover in preparation for the colder months to come. Halloween was a great success around my house. The grand babies were satisfied with the three-cavities-guaranteed sweets they were able to score. Their mommas…not so much! Now it’s time to finish off the Halloween candy and carry the jack-o-lanterns to the field for the critters to munch on. I’ll be cleaning and getting ready for Thanksgiving and Christmas festivities. Which leads me to ask the question— Why do the heroines in our books never do normal, everyday things? After thinking about it, I’ve come to a conclusion. What normal, everyday woman wants to read a book that mimics her life? I’m not implying our lives are boring, but come on, how many women kick butt and take names for a living? How many can eat like all food has zero calories and never gain an ounce? What women in Reader-Ville, have all the men on Earth wanting to do wonderful things to their bodies—and want nothing in return?  Yep, that’s what I’m saying. When I read, I want to lose myself in the story. I want to bond with a woman leading an exciting, fairytale life. I want the hunky, alpha sex-god to fall madly in love me, fighting any others who might interfere in his quest for my affections. I want the hot, multiple orgasms kind of sex with no kids pounding on my bedroom door, or dogs sleeping at the foot of the bed. I want to never worry about morning breath, taking bathroom break, or how many calories a tiny morsel of chocolate contains. If I wanted to spend time with a woman cleaning toilets, chasing dust-bunnies, or tackling wild children, I’d look in the mirror and have a conversation with myself.If anyone else has another theory about why heroines in romance books never lead the lives real women do, I’d love to hear from you in the comments below. Settings: Why Should Readers Care?I believe settings make a huge difference in the pleasure readers can get from a story. I know for myself I love trying to visualize the cities or mountains or moors the characters visit. When the author adds in details, I feel like I’m right there with the characters. I strive to do the same thing with my own writing. Each of my books is set in a place I’ve visited or lived. My goal is to paint a picture for my readers. It almost feels like it’s my responsibility to give them a chance to “see” a place they may never see in real life.  With my new Hidden Destiny series, I set the stories in Austin, Texas. I have been here quite a while and there is so much to love. South by Southwest, Austin City Limits, University of Texas (Go Longhorns!), eclectic shops, various festivals, Tex-Mex food and a ton of other interesting places. We are the live music capital of the world. What better place to set my not-so-ordinary paranormal stories than a not-so-ordinary city? Wake Me is the 1stbook in the Hidden Destiny series, a group of stories all revolving around Trinity Tavern, a fictional pub in the city center, and a band of friends who must learn to accept and control their paranormal abilities. I’m excited about this story, of course, but I’m really looking forward to continuing to paint that picture of Austin. With the connected series books, readers should hopefully have an accurate depiction of life in Austin and maybe, just maybe, some of them will book a vacation to our unique Texas city!
