As a publisher, we are always tasked with keeping an eye on what book buyers are looking for in the way of adult and kids’ books. Desired topics change often when life shine’s the spotlight on something (or someone) we would like to know more about. Lately, we’ve noticed is that people are pulling back from buying books in general even though many of our nation’s people are still currently

A Ray of Light during Dark Times: Reading eBooks!

So, how are you feeling during these unprecedented times? It seems/feels like this pandemic is dragging on forever with no reprieve in sight. People are alternating between rebellion and paralyzing fear and the news and news feeds are filled with info that half the time we are sure is real or not. “Hunker down and wait” seems to be a reoccurring theme for many of the more level-headed folks and

Helping Small Businesses Survive during COVID19

Beyond the anxieties and health concerns that come with a global pandemic, small businesses (especially those deemed “non-essential” ) are taking a huge hit financially and even mentally. Many people have lost their jobs and many small business owners are giving in to the crushing and frustrating limitations and are choosing not to reopen at all. As a whole, solopreneurs, independent contractors, and small businesses are in a state of

Five Fun Facts about Foxes

“April Showers bring May Flowers…” In my world, it also brings about a slew of baby foxes! It was back in 2009 when the foxes first arrived in my yard.  Over the years that followed, our vast property was home to many litters of foxes kits. To this day, I am still enamored with the special connection that I was blessed with during my interactions with these beautiful wild animals.

A month-long practice for Renewal and Garden Meditation

May 4 is a day, like any other day, with one exception: it’s National Renewal Day! To be honest, I wasn’t even aware there was such a “day”…but I love it. I especially love that its the day after National Garden Meditation Day as well. The NationalDayCalendar.com website describes Renewal Day best: “Observed annually on May 4th, National Renewal Day was created for new beginnings. According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary,

The Formula for Reading Books that Kids Love

Literacy in our country is at an all-time high. It’s no secret that books play a huge part in all children’s lives. Numerous studies have also shown that reading to a child as little as twenty minutes per week will not only result in stronger readers but ones who carry a love of literature into adulthood. Reading books nourishes the brain, and this is true for readers of all ages.

(Guest post from Becky Flansburg) The world is such a different place right now. And there’s much debate about when Shelter In Place, quarantine, social distancing, and other COVID-19 mandates will end. No one really knows, but I do know is that there are silver linings among the cloud of this pandemic. I’ll give you two: More Family Time: Like, real LEGIT family time. Time to do puzzles, take walks,

April is the perfect time to get kids into the garden | National Garden Month

Every April communities, organizations, and individuals nationwide celebrate gardening during National Garden Month. Gardeners know, and research confirms, that nurturing plants is good for us: attitudes toward health and nutrition improve. Being outside is proven to help kids perform better at school and community spirit grows. This all sounds like a major win/win to me! So, let’s all turn off Netflix, stop watching CNN, and let Mother Earth unleash her

Get Drawn Into the Saga of the Deuxsang

Ascension, Clandestine, and Reclamation…a trifecta of suspense, romance, and intrigue for YA and adult readers. “A trilogy so intense and intriguing readers will be turning pages well into the night …” Summer reading is on everyone’s mind lately, quite possibly because after weeks of words like “quarantine,” “Shelter In Place,” and “social distancing,” we are all hungry for some sort of normalcy.  Thankfully, whether we are at home or at

Virtual Pilgrimages: Online Spiritual Travel, Adventure, and Growth

Spring/Summer is a time of movement, adventures, and growth. The warmer weather and long weekends also makes these seasons the perfect time to travel and explore. But travel is likely still not an option for many as the world struggles to reclaim a “new normal” after several tense (more like intense) months of battling the super-virus known as COVID-19. People are slowly returning to life B.C (Before Coronavirus) but many are
