I Read & Review

I read & review. You reap the reward of some much deserved recognition.

I would like to invite you to check out Hidden Gems http://freedomink365.com/hidden_gems . I am ALWAYS searching for the next Hidden Gems Featured Author. For less than $20.00, I will read your book. Review it (Amazon, Facebook, Goodreads, Twitter...). Promote it by posting the book's information at my Professional site (for a full month) and at least a dozen status updates in reference to your title via social media. If you are interested, I require an author biography (w/headshot), an image of your book's front cover, a copy of your book, preferably a physical copy (so that I may read and review) and the links where your book can be purchased at. Please also provide your email as well as Facebook/Twitter contacts. I know it's not easy to exist in a career that most see as a solitary one. I hope that you take this invitation into consideration. If you would like a reference, I would be more than glad to put you in contact with Yolanda McKinnon, 'Why Is The Moon Following Me', Tonya Goring, 'Meet Desiree', Mellie Miller, 'Gambler's Folly', Jan Sikes, 'Flowers and Stone'.

I look forward to your response.

Java Junkie

The wine of the all night Gods and Goddesses! I drink so much of the stuff, certainly there would be a fresh, robust stream of continual java from my veins if one were to slit my wrist. I'm sorry. I don't mean for my wordplay to mimic morbid tendencies. You see, I've yet to have my morning cup. That FIRST morning cup will have evolved into at least 3 cups by noon. By the time the children arrive from school, I'll have had another. Awaiting dinner is cause for another celebratory cup! After my shower, while I listen to the children settle in after a long day. While I read, in between editing and writing and quilting. I know what you're thinking, "I Drink Waaaay Too Much Coffee" There is usually a cup in hand as I, myself settle in, somewhere around 2 a.m'ish. My last thoughts as I close my eyes are of my next cup in the next 4 hours. I'm gonna need it to jump start my day. Cheers & Salud to all you Java Junkies.

52 Week Photo Blog

Silence is Golden
Working at home has its advantages. But with advantages come drawbacks. Number 1 in the FreedomInk office is Noise. Life goes on outside these doors. I can hear the boy watching National Geographic, I can hear the girls (my daughters and my niece) playing with teddy bears and dolls, I can hear the Honey jamming away to a few tunes. Then there's the cat "Meow"-ing and the smell of baked chicken drafting underneath the door. Sometimes the office doesn't feel like work. It just feels like home. I'm counting down the minutes until Saturday night bedtime!! I can't wait for the wee ones to peek their heads in, kiss my cheek, scream out multiple goodnight wishes. Every night it's the same... "Goodnight, Love you, Say your prayers!" x3 exceptin' tonight it's x4!! But like I said, after the last one has bid us farewell as this day comes to a halt, i'm giddy with excitement in my seat. Afterall, when sleep takes over, and Zzzz's commence to emit, silence will reign and that my friends is G-O-L-D-E-N!!
{I'm really enjoying keeping this weekly photo journal. I hope that you like what you see and that you follow! Thanks}

Computer Love

You’ve got all these online sites like match.com, zoosk, eharmony, plenty of fish, and my favorite... mocospace.com!!

Online dating is still pretty taboo in the Black/African American Communities especially those communities embedded in the south. Can you imagine telling your great aunt Ema Lou you’re getting married to a John Doe you met off the world wide web of lies? It would cause a family uproar, A friend of mine met & married the love of her life via the Internet. She has since started a family with him. They maintain a love of each other and family as well as raise children together. He is, her ‘Once In A Lifetime True Love’. But get this… their parents, his nor hers know how they truly met. Now that’s the scary part. Personally, I like the idea of the extra screening process. A little chatting. The exchange of phone numbers. The 1st date. When you’re proceeding with caution you tend to slow down in the garden!! This allows you to weed out the bad ones. We just live in such a different world! If you open yourself to a social life online, you’ve gotta know that eventually, love will come a’inboxing! I say. Give it a shot. Live life. And never be afraid to fall in love. Even if the backdrop of your first meeting is indeed 1’s and 0’s!!

Fade To Black: Stand Up Against Internet Censorship

The plan is to go internet silent January 18th. Congress is voting to censor the internet. The internet of all places. The one place where everyone is treated as equals. Since i'm just learning of this, the movement has to spread like wildfire. Do you think it will work. I dunno. I do know it's gonna be hard to stay away but i'd rather shut up than be censored ;-)

*Check out Wikipedia as they go black. Use the tool to input your postal zip and then...

Wikipedia-- Call your elected officials.
Tell them you are their constituent, and you oppose SOPA and PIPA.

Why?
SOPA and PIPA put the burden on website owners to police user-contributed material and call for the unnecessary blocking of entire sites. Small sites won't have sufficient resources to defend themselves. Big media companies may seek to cut off funding sources for their foreign competitors, even if copyright isn't being infringed. Foreign sites will be blacklisted, which means they won't show up in major search engines. SOPA and PIPA build a framework for future restrictions and suppression.

In a world in which politicians regulate the Internet based on the influence of big money, Wikipedia — and sites like it — cannot survive.

Congress says it's trying to protect the rights of copyright owners, but the "cure" that SOPA and PIPA represent is worse than the disease. SOPA and PIPA are not the answer: they will fatally damage the free and open Internet.

I Pray All Dogs REALLY Do Go To Heaven

Hardest phone call this year. My son just lost his bestfriend. The girls are trying to play it off. But my teenager is in tears. Mama called from Manassas to let me and the grands know that she had been calling Cash for almost two weeks with no response. When he finally showed up, looked like he had been hit. Broken backside. Barely moving. Pulling himself as how he got back home. I suppose he lost his taste for life. She said he wouldn't even pick his head up to eat. So she went out into the yard to feed him out of her hand. The same lady that was always screamin' and hollerin' cause Cash would bark all night or invite the 'neighborhood' and they would 'congregrate' on the front porch. He suffered a week. Not eating. Not moving. My stepdad had his brother come out. Mama said she turned the music up as loud as it would go. Cash was put down. She cried for him. I'm sad. Doing my best to keep the tears from falling. He wasn't just a dog. He would disappear for days, weeks, months on end. Only showing up to get a meal. Always right outside someone's front door. And no matter what time of day or night it was, if the kiddos were en route, it's like he knew. He would sit at that house all day. Waiting! The sweetest ol' dog a kid could ever have. He was bought as a puppy. Brindle pitt. Fathered many a pup in Manassas GA. Kailyn would ride his back when he was big enough. Then one day, she was too big! Followed Trevon, foot for foot. And always knew it was Ashley that would break him off a piece of whatever goody she always seemed to be eating. Herman fell in love with him. Wanted to bring his big, rusty butt back to Atlanta. As for me, I was number 1 rubber. Sure you could pet him and a jacket of dust would coat the sky (exaggeration). But we all loved him and he is gonna be terribly missed.
