This is a popular discussion when we have qualified writers present to speak on it, and thankfully the Avalon Expo sponsored guest Ali House (The Six Elemental) is an playwright in her own right!

Writer’s Toolkit: Idea Generation | The Writer’s Block | Avalon Expo
[image error]The next Writer’s Block course we’d like to announce as happening during Avalon Expo is ‘Writer’s Toolkit: Idea Generation,’ which is tentatively scheduled for Friday August 25th from 2-2:50PM.
This discussion will focus on the first step in becoming an author: idea generation. Namely: how to generate ideas, how to deal with some of the criticism you may come under (even from yourself) for those ideas, how to know when your idea is ready to start drafting, and (perhaps most importantly) how our culture’s general ideas about idea generation and the author might not be correct!
Leading the panel will be veteran author Matthew LeDrew (Black Womb, Infinity) and the amazingly talented Ali House (The Six Elemental, Bluenose Paradox).

Jacobi Street launch! | The Writer’s Block | Avalon Expo
[image error]As we announced yesterday, reviews have been coming in for Jacobi Street and it looks like it’s set to be one of our most ambitious novels yet: a single book story (which we’ve never done before!) that brings the author back to his horror-roots. So of course we’re going to be launching it at Avalon Expo during the Writer’s Block, from 1:00-1:50PM on Friday, August 25, 2017! The event will actually kick off the whole Writer’s Block and be first first time the novel will actually be on sale!
“This will arguably be the darkest story from the Engen universe but even after ten years of writing LeDrew is still able to paint a horrifying tale with his writing.” — Paul Carberry, Zombies on the Rock
Copies will be on hand but will be extremely limited, so make sure you get there for the launch! However for any who don’t make it in time we’ll have order forms there to have new copies shipped directly to your door, at no extra charge, to wherever in the world you want! ❤
The launch will feature a reading from LeDrew, as well as a discussion of the novel’s place in the larger tapestry of the Engen Universe, and a Q&A session with the author.

The reviews are in: Jacobi Street looks amazing!
[image error]Copies are ordered and will first be available at Avalon Expo, along with a simultaneous digital release for those who just can’t wait, but the early reviews for Jacobi Street are coming and have blown our expectations out of the water! But don’t take out word for it: look and see!
“Jacobi Street paints a vivid picture of everyday life in a bohemian neighborhood. By the time you realize everything isn’t what it seems, it’ll be too late to put the book down. While it might not be the place to settle down, Jacobi Street is definitely worth the visit.”
— Amanda Labonté, Call of the Sea
“This novel is Tales from the Crypt meets Doctor Who,”
— Heather Reilly, Binding of the Almatraek
“My inner art nerd was utterly engaged. I wish this street existed, because I want to visit it.” — Ali House, The Six Elemental
“This will arguably be the darkest story from the Engen universe but even after ten years of writing LeDrew is still able to paint a horrifying tale with his writing.” — Paul Carberry, Zombies on the Rock
Jacobi Street launches at Avalon Expo August 25, 2017 as part of the Engen Books 10th Anniversary. EBook copies can be pre-ordered by clicking the image above.
