Moving forward

This has been a difficult year for me as well as finding the right time for writing. I have a great book that I believe will “Wow” my friends and fans, but I have yet to complete my edit. I hope you will bear with me while I digress and procrastinate, I have a terrible illness in my family and find that I am not comfortable at this juncture putting so much of my time into this that I leave out time for my loved ones. While the initial shock has worn down, each new issue continues to create stress.

I appreciate those of you who have continued to keep the faith and I do hope to have my work completed and in print by the end of the year.

Karma Stone is as different from my first work as it can be, and while it still carries paranormal tones, there is much horror and death involved. It is very much of a thriller, with a basis in the Ripper beginnings, and moving on into the realms of soul transgressions and Karma.

I will begin my return by getting back to posting on my author blog and hope to see you here periodically.

Thanks again for your thoughts, my hope is that you will find my new work to have grown and evolved. I will begin looking for an editor and hope the corrections will be more of my writing style.

In the meantime please feel free to check out my review website, I reveiw for many writers and hope I give each book a unique look. Check it out at TicToc.

Thanks,

Blogging and writing

I enjoy books to such an extent that what really encouraged me to persue my dream was the reviews I had been doing for a few years. I have so many requests for reviews now that I have difficulty working on my own product. My problem is that I would like to continue reviewing,as well as following my own dream, but the challenge is when to say no. There are so many hopeful writers, and I know how hard it is to find a reviewer so I certainly have diffuculty passing, and yet I must. My inbox has between 10-20 hopefuls daily and I can only choose what I feel I can get to within a reasonalbe time. Most are willing to wait but it is often difficult when I decide to read and review a book to have the author nudging me for review dates. I just do not know at times, life does go on and things happen.

That being said, I will begin editing my book again this weekend and will put some time into it before looking for someone to polish it further. I am also thinking about going back to my first novel and expanding some the the areas that my readers thought were cut short. During the editing process on that one, I think much was lost. So onward and upward, and thank you for your kindness.

A Long Hiatus

It has been a few months since I have spent time on my book, I have continued to write reviews, and am now writing a monthly article of mystical creatures on openbooksociety.com.
Situations in my life have made me take another look on what is important and I have tried to make adjustments. Now that I hope I am moving in the right direction I am ready and empowered to get back into the editing on my recent work.
My beta readers have been excited over the work so I am knee deep in not letting them down. The importance of a strong edit, and a smooth story is what will rally the readers and I am ready.
I will then go back to my first work and re-look at some of the timeline. It appears the professional edit did not work as well as I had hoped. I did learn a great deal from the editor, she mentored as well with words of encouragement, and I may of misunderstood some of her direction. Or it just may be that different editors for different genres may be important. I will go for more indepth research before choosing an editor in future.
Thank you all for your patience and your kindness during my time of stress, family illness is never expected ...and will take over your life if you let it.
My guidence tells me to get back to my book. It is time.

The Life outside

Working and writing creates a challenge in and of itself. Many writers these days deal with the same challenges. When other things intrude such as illness of family or friends, it is difficult to find the ability to move on.

For all of those who have dealt with this, I commend you for your fortitude, and I truly understand the constraints of time. Writing is cathartic, and so is reading for me, so I know I will blunder on.

For all my friends and fans, good luck in the new year and may you get everyting you hope for. I hope to release my new work about mid year, but am working slowly on the editing process.

New Book

Have you ever begun a new book and as it twisted and turned in directions new to you, been a bit repulsed by it? I know that seems like an odd question, but I just completed my next book and I am not sure if I will be comfortable with releasing it. It is a paranormal take on a thriller. It has some historical information based off Jack the Ripper, and it is all tied up with Karma and the use of Knives.
As I researched the subject, the tone of the book turned quite dark, and the discriptions just a bit grisly.
I am just beginning the editing process, so I will have a much better idea as I progress.

I enjoy thirllers myself, and even those with some grafic scenes do not bother me, but maybe just because these scenes are coming from my thoughts it is more personal.

I will have to determine that as I go. The bright side though, I finished a book, Yeah!

New work

I have begun work on a new project, it will have more of a thriller overtone, with the paranormal twist as an undertone. There will be a take on Karma and past life regression, and I hope something that will be an exciting read. I plan to have it completed by the end of the year and out for editing soon after. I will keep you updated on the progress and will give you more information as the release date comes close.

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and are looking forward to an exciting Christmas.

Giving Thanks

In the spirit of the season I wanted to take the time to give thanks for the people in my life. That includes my friend and fans from my social networks as well as my family who support me in everything I do.
Many of us are so fortunate to be able to read and write. Once upon a time, I had to scrimp and save for every bit of reading material that came my way. Please be generous over the Holiday, with your family and friends, and if you are able ...to those in need.
Take the time to think about what you are thankful for and not to dwell on those things that weigh you down.
Have a wonderful holiday, and thank you for your support.

Updated Release

I have finalized the completion of the edit on my book. It was a complete edit with for flow and back story as well as smoothing out the bumps. It is now complete and available in Kindle and physical copy on Amazon, and available for download on smashwords.
Some of the editing was fun and creative but much of it was like going back to school...Ugg.

I appreciate all you patience. The other news is a short Christmas story I have written that will appear as part of an anthology. More information below as well as a sneak peak of the cover.

Christmas Lites Information

The Creative Reviews group on GoodReads is filled to the brim with writers, reviewers, editors, proofreaders and crazy people. We decided to pull all our abilities to do something for others. And it was born: Christmas Lites. It's a Short Story Anthology with the overall theme of Christmas. It will be available in e-book and print this November.

26 authors submitted a short story to be included in the anthology and the proceeds will be donated to the NCADV – National Coalition Against Domestic Violence. It's a wonderful charity that we are honored to support. We are also donating FREE e-copies to the deployed troops overseas via Operation eBook Drop.

Blurb:

Once upon a time, a rough and tumble seven year old caught Santa sliding down the chimney…

Then a ninja elf came and broke Santa out, no net is strong enough to keep out this ninja elf! Off past the faithful family pet they ran and jumped in the sleigh. They raced to another house but refused to stop when ghosts were there to greet them. Santa doesn't tangle with ghosts. He doesn't tangle with vampires, either.

At the next stop, he met a runaway gingerbread man who yelled, "You can't catch me, I'm the gingerbread man!" Santa didn't bother to catch him; he had things to do.

On his way to his next delivery, he passed a werewolf jumping out of a plane and dodged a zombie hungry for his brain.

He finally touched down in a nice, normal town full of tidings and great joy…

Or did he?

Dive into a world of variety—a world of spirit with this Creative Reviews anthology. What better way to celebrate the holiday season than with some short stories that entertain and encompass the true meaning of Christmas? All proceeds of this book will be donated to the NCADV (national coalition against domestic violence). Debut authors and published authors have come together in this one-of-a-kind compilation – please help support a great cause and plunge deep into our imaginations.

*****

My own Story is more traditional and called The Christmas Star by L.A. Wright. Dive in to buy one of these books when released. All proceeds go to charity, and the stories are new and exciting. Holiday fun at it finest.

Stay tuned for more works. Several stories are foming at this time, all paranormal and exciting. Three in particular are pulling my attention, I plan to have two of them releasing in 2012. I will keep you updated.

Holiday Book

I am working with several other authors who have written holiday stories now under editing to be released somewhere around Black Friday. The proceeds are to go to charity. The idea developed here on Goodreads and and the group,Creative Reviews.
I hope you will take the time to check this out once completed. I will post and I am sure many of the others involved will put out their own excitiment.
This could not have been accomplished without the expert guidence of the group moderators, and all those that chose their own resourses, such as editing, writing and book covers. Every donated resourse will make the life of another just a bit brighter, and what better time then the upcoming holiday season.
