What's going on with Marcus Hardy....

I am currently working on giving Marcus a happily ever after. Here is a tiny peek.....

Green eyes met mine and I stood there frozen, staring at him. He looked so much older now. His shoulders were wider and his arms were corded with muscles making them appear thicker than I remembered. "I didn't realize you had company," Marcus said as his eyes shifted between me and my brother. Preston let out a bark of laughter and pointed his soda can at me, "You don't recognize her do you?" A small frown puckered Marcus' brow making him look adorable. I wanted to kiss it away. No, no, no it was time to let go of this silly crush. I was eighteen years old and it was well past time I got over Marcus Hardy. Slowly his frown began to melt and surprise took it's place. I guess I'd changed more over the past two years than I realized. It'd taken him much longer than it should have to recognize me. "Brat?" Dang him! He had to ruin it all by calling me the stupid nickname he'd given me when I was seven and always trying to tag along with Preston and his friends.

FYI: If you want to chat with me tonight I will be over at YABound. You can join us  HERE

The New Cover

"For the first time in my life, my dreams aren't about me."           I lifted my eyes up to meet his, and he smiled.
                               "They're about you."
The NEW Cover for the Breathe hard copy edition!
The print edition of Breathe will be slightly different from the digital copy.  Dialogue has been edited = more contractions. A few other small changes have also been added. Coming soon to a bookshelf near you ;)

Lockers are sure Not what they use to be....

I remember the old metal rusty smell of my locker. There was some writing in the back that had been scribbled out by a black permanent marker. Normally if the janitor had seen fit to scribble it out then there were curse words involved. The "Jan Luvs Joe" stuff didn't usually get covered up. It was innocent enough. I had a few pictures of my boyfriend and me taped to the inside of the door. A strip of photo booth pictures of me with my BFF's (who I haven't seen in over fourteen years now) also got a place of honor inside the blue metal box thats only purpose was to hold my junk. On game days, birthdays, and Valentines Day you would see decorations covering the outside of lockers. Then on occasion you would see nasty notes taped to the outside of a cheating boyfriends locker or the boyfriend thief's locker. That was the extent of locker decorations.
BUT OH. MY. Good gracious. Has that ever changed!
This morning instead of going for my morning walk, relaxing with a cup of coffee and doing some #WW on Twitter I was at my daughter's school. Wait for it...... DECORATING HER LOCKER! Yes you read that correctly. There was no special holiday or occasion for this event. Apparently the rusty graffiti walls of our youth are no longer acceptable to our children. They must have it looking like a flipping bedroom. Here are some photos of the insides of these lockers....

This one happens to be my Niece's locker

Times sure have changed......

Teaser Tuesday

I read "Between the Lines" by Tammara Webber this past weekend and loved it! Thought I would give you a little teaser since I am currently rereading the Twilight series and I know no one needs a teaser from those ;)

From Reid's POV: "A quarter after one, and I haven't seen Emma in a few minutes. I've been keeping track of where she is all night, covertly. The one time we made eye contact, she was dancing with Quinton. They moved perfectly together, and she looked so hot I almost ditched the mindless pack of girls clustered around and asked her to dance right then. I opted to wait a little longer. Now, I'm rethinking that dimwitted decision, because she's nowhere. Did she leave with some guy?"

The story is told in both Reid - the hottest teen actor currently on screen- and his newest leading lady Emma - who hasn't done anything but commercials and made for TV movies- point of view. However, there is a third guy in the mix whose head we never get a peek into and he is yummy! Graham. You need to check it out. I loved it.

Anyway, the print copy of Breathe will have an awesome new cover which will be released soon. I can't show it to you yet.... NO not even a peek. Okay how about a small little piece of the cover. You can use your imagination for the rest.

What's Not to Love?!

The day Breathe was released massive butterflies partied in my stomach, all day. I've already described how scared I was in a previous post. Putting myself out there to be "reviewed" by the world was terrifying. Letting others read my work is still difficult. As a writer, I want people to like me. I want them to like my work, although they aren't always going to. Confidence isn't something I have in spades.
Yesterday, I once again learned a valuable lesson from one of my kids. My middle child, Annabelle,  is everything I wanted to be growing up. She is so full of life you can't help but laugh at something she says or does within five minutes of meeting her. Even though she is a chatter box, her teachers always adore her because she keeps them laughing. However, instead of her normal confident self on her first day of school she was quiet. Not only was she starting fifth grade, getting her first locker, and changing classes for the first time she was at a new school. After five years of going to school with the same kids she had to start over. My oldest already knew boys from the new school because of football and my youngest is still too young for it to be a big deal.
Leaving Annabelle there was so incredibly hard. I wanted to tuck her under my arm and run away. She never asked me to stay, or whined or complained. Although I could see the fear in her eyes, she also had the determination there to make this work. Fear wasn't going to stop her. I was incredibly anxious to hear what she had to say when she opened the car door and jumped inside after school. I asked my oldest how his day was first and he shrugged and said, "Good." I then asked the baby girl who told me she had a great teacher and made new friends. Finally, I asked Annabelle about her day. She beamed the big bright smile I'm so use to seeing and had missed that morning then put her hands on her hips before answering, "Awesome! I have new friends and nice teachers and of course they all love me. I mean, what's not to love!"
No one makes her question herself. She knows who she is and she loves herself. That attitude makes life easier and opens doors. If we could all embrace "What's not to love," and face our fear with such determination to succeed we'd be meeting our dreams a lot sooner. I can't wait to see what she accomplishes one day.

My Coastal Bookstore Exploration Down 30A & a GIVEAWAY!

Yesterday, I had a really tough day. I mean it was grueling... HA! That's a lie. Actually, yesterday ranked right up there with one of the best days I've had this summer. The hubby and I got away for a little overnight trip and spent an entire day visiting small independent bookstores along the coastal scenic highway 30A corridor. We began our trip in one of my favorite places, Seaside, Florida. Other than the fact you can stay at the Vera Bradley, Inn by the Sea, while in Seaside you can also get lost in the laid back southern coast feel of SUNDOG Books.  Doesn't it make you just want to run up the steps into the welcoming smell of books? While in this Über cool book store I made a purchase I intend to giveaway on my blog. I'll get to that later....Our next stop was in Rosemary Beach, Florida. This place reminds me of a fairytale coastal town. I was almost positive there were mermaids under the clear blue water lapping up on their shore. Here I found The Hidden Lantern bookstore
All I wanted to do was curl up on one of those cozy chairs and read. I spent the most time in this store because of the easy welcoming feel. Then it was time for some coffee so we stopped in this little place.... Amavida, where they didn't just specialize in coffee but had a colorful selection of books and art as well. What could be better than coffee and books? NOTHING. Now, for the giveaway info. The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants was my first YA read and the reason I fell in love with the genre. So, when I found this lovely hardback looking at me on the shelf at SUNDOG I knew I had to buy it and give it away on my blog.... Just comment on this post with your email address to enter. On August 25, I will pick a winner out of the hat and email it to you as well as post it on my blog. Good Luck!

*The Breathe Blog Tour is in full swing. Today you get to meet Jax over at Stuck in Books and enter another giveaway*

Teaser Tuesday!

This makes twice I've remembered to do a "Teaser Tuesday"! I just finished  Blood Like Poison by M. Leighton. It's a fabulous vampire romance. It takes a different twist than many of the other ones I've read. No one shimmers but they do go invisible =) I enjoyed it so much that I stayed up two nights unable to stop reading. I'm completely in love with Bo.
Excerpt from Blood Like Poison
My feet faltered and I slowed, creeping closer to the window. Just as I stopped in front of it, the intoxicating scent of Bo assailed me and I felt that bone-deep yearning that so often overcame me when he was near. "Bo?""I'm here," he said from somewhere outside my window."Did you just-"I trailed off. Of course he did. How else would my window get raised?"What?""nothing," I said.I saw the screen pop out and then heard the shuffling sounds of him crawling through the window. I wondered about how he'd gotten the window up through the screen, but the thought was lost as soon as Bo started walking toward me. I couldn't see him, but my nerves stirred with every step he took in my direction. It made the hairs on my arms stand at attention."I wanted to make sure you were alright," he said coming to stand in front of me.
Now run on along and buy it for yourself!

What are you reading?

The Bloopers

So, by now most of you have seen the Character Interview  video of Sadie and Jax. If not look to the right of the screen and scroll down. It's the second video.
WELL, the guy who produced the video took a few of the out-takes and made me a little blooper reel.  I've laughed watching them and thought I'd share it with you guys because I love you so much ;)
The actors for the Breathe book trailer (also to the right of your screen) aren't acting in this one. You get a glimpse at their real personalities. It's a fun flick. Enjoy!

A peek into the mind of Death (EXISTENCE)

The moment she spotted me, I knew it. Granted, she did a really good job of pretending she couldn't see me. The fact she halted in her steps the moment her eyes met mine, then quickly darted past me as she hurried into the school, gave her away.  Students walked past me all morning without seeing me but this one saw me. I stood up from the wooden picnic table, where I'd been sitting awaiting her arrival. I could force her to acknowledge me by becoming visible to everyone else but I wasn't in the mood to do so just yet. The determination in her eyes intrigued me. If there hadn't been a parking lot full of witnesses, I have the feeling she would have yelled at me instead of cowering like most humans. The monotony of my existence didn't hold much promise of entertainment. I'd play her games for awhile. Games were fun to play and it'd been much too long since I'd come across a worthy opponent, especially a female one...
