An update on Allegiance

Last night, I met my first self-imposed deadline: finishing the first draft of Allegiance! Actually, the target was end of February so I'm ahead of schedule :-)
What does that mean? I'm well on my way through the difficult task of finishing this novel. I'm nowhere near done and it's nowhere near presentable but the bones of the plot are there.

Now, I must bring this sucker to life, infusing emotions and senses into it - the "meat" that makes a plot a story. For those interested in the novel...

Fantastic Resources for the Non-techie Author & Blogger

If you're like me, you're not exactly educated in the whole HTML-CSS-Blogger-Button-Badge stuff. You drool over the fantastic websites and blogs of those who are 'with it', you wonder how they did it, but that's about as far as you get. When I started out last April, I had no idea what I was doing. Now, close to a year later, I have almost no idea what I'm doing. I have learned a few things though, by bumbling through website and blog design, reading up a lot, and the "Big Crash of 2012...

Allegiance Character Naming Contest: And the winner is...

This was a TOUGH decision. I mean... there were a lot of fantastic suggestions, both classic and unique! I can't believe the lengths to which some entrants researched and validated their name selections. I loved all of the entries! (LOL, even "Mindy, the vampire") Alas, I must decide on one name. One perfect name for the exciting, new character I'm introducing in ALLEGIANCE. She's the character with a century-long past; she's Viggo's sworn enemy for good reason, and she plays a pivotal role i...

Website Woes

Welcome to my new blogger blog! For those of you following my saga, I 'broke' my website over the weekend, tinkering with code I had no business tinkering with. I'm transitioning to a new and super-cool site so I'm not overly upset, except that I was hoping to have everything all cleaned up so I could say "tada!!!". Well, with a few hundred people visiting daily, I need something up and now! So I had to do some late night patch work to create a manual redirect, blah blah.... website blah.
Well...

"Awesome Indies" Listing

It's Friday (YEY!!!) and I'm taking a much-needed day off after a hectic month of work, tour, and kidlet stuff to enjoy life. Enjoy life = work on 1st draft of ALLEGIANCE :-)
But before I dive into that, I thought I'd post this fabulous link I just found out about. A fellow indie author has decided to begin a listing for "Awesome Indies" on her website. Here's a direct quote from her site to explain:

"The Awesome Indies is a list of  excellent books by independently published authors as recommended by writers and editors. This is your guarantee that these books are professionally written and produced and are as good as or better than books published by mainstream publishers."

Not only do I think this is fantastic idea, I'm honored to have ANATHEMA listed here! Ensuring I published a quality product (complete with editing and design) was important to me and it's being recognized here :-) For those of you who love indie books, check out Tahlia Newland's website! It will be updated monthly. I've already downloaded a few of the books on there for my next reading binge (in between 1st draft and revisions of ALLEGIANCE).

Here's the link.  Hover over the "Awesome Indies" menu for genre sub-pages

Enjoy and happy weekend!

Asylum Tour: Thoughts on Book 3

[image error] Today is my last post before the last day of the Asylum tour (a vlog that I'm about to tape... eeek!) and so I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to talk a little bit about Book 3. As I've mentioned already, there will be four books in the Causal Enchantment Series. Originally, I expected this to be a trilogy. However, once I began outlining Book 3, I realized it was impossible to wrap this story up in only one more book. So, four books it will be and I'm excited to dive in!

I'm about a quarter of the way through the first draft and can't wait to see exactly where this goes. I had the misfortune of losing my plot outline (self-inflicted pain… I got creative with my file password and then forgot what it was). Luckily, I remember the big ideas and I'm coming up with new twists every day so I don't feel like I've lost too much.

So what can readers expect of the third instalment in this series? Where ANATHEMA had a lot of romance in it and ASYLUM was full of action, expect to see both romance and action compete for attention in Book 3. The characters have reunited and the situation is desperate.  Desperate enough to look for allegiances with Viggo's arch-nemesis and with the wolves; desperate enough to challenge the Fates themselves. You'll meet another of Sofie's causal enchantments. I can't wait to introduce you to him - he's exceptionally disturbing.

I will need to split the POV for a portion of the story, given where Sofie ends up. It's a critical part of the plot - it will reveal a lot about this world and its destiny.

I can't tell you much about Evangeline, Caden, and the others without spoiling for those who haven't started the series, so I won't say anything except that I expect it to be an intense read. The secrets Evangeline now holds close to her heart will have consequences.

At the end of Asylum, I've posted 'early 2013' for book 3. It's to buy myself a little bit of wiggle room in case of 'life' constraints. However,  I'm aiming to get Book 3 out as early as November of this year. What's it called?... ALLEGIANCE: Causal Enchantment, #3
My hubs named it and it's absolutely perfect for the story.
If you haven't already, go grab an ecopy of Anathema for FREE right now. Asylum is only $2.99.
Also, ensure you're signing up for the last giveaway of the Asylum tour - a print copy of Asylum! Click here for the form

Thanks to all for joining today. Enjoy the series!
