We Asked Mars One Applicants Why They Want to Leave This Planet Forever
This should be more than enough to make you fall in love with the Mars One project.
I think of the word daffy when I think about Mars One.
And I love the word daffy.
So there.

Not that there should be any doubt at this point, but: Geek Alert!
Recently found a box of old gaming stuff. Including some of my first dungeons. Early attempts at story telling. Vintage 1978 or thereabouts.
Omni Reboot | THE LANDLINE
Issues ofOmniwere hard to come by when I was a teenager. I couldn’t afford a subscription and back issues didn’t float around our neighborhood or anything. I had an easier time getting my hands on old copies ofPlayboy.
Every now and then one of them came my way and got treated much like a favorite comic book; thumbed over and over, folded this way and that, shared with friends, poured over at the breakfast table and in bed before lights out.
Reborn on the Internet.

INTERVIEWER
In Number9Dream, you have a description of a gangster who has a voice “as thirsty as sandpaper.” He has “cavernous eye sockets, plump lips, mottled and flaky skin—the sort used on young actors playing old roles—and a wart on the corner of his eye bigger than an amorous nipple.”

I’m not sure. Am I guilty of Orwell’s criticism of Dickens’s fabulous gargoyles, that they make for rotten architecture? “His voice is as thirsty as s...

The line owes a debt to Borges’s story “The Garden of Forking Paths.” Human life, Borges said, is a cascade of possible directions, and we take only one, or we perceive that we take only one—which is how novels are written, too. You start with a blank page, and the first word opens up possibilities for the second word. If your first word is Call, those second two or three could be a doctor or it could be me Ishmael. It could be Call girls on Saturday nights generally cost more than.....

Tattooed goth pinup girls. girls, tattoos, interviews, charlie, huston, skinner
I’m not sure exactly how this interview ended up finding a home at suicidegirls, but there it is.
As I recall, I did this by phone from the lobby of a movie theater. I’d gone to catch a matinee with my family, having forgotten I had this obligation. I had to step out mid-movie, and I still don’t know how “Despicable Me Two” ended.
Anyway, there’s some stuff in here that I didn’t...

I’m not saying I have any interest in doing bong rips at this point in my life, but these kind of make me want to do bong rips so I can stare at them and disappear.

A radio signal I wish I received. Full of constant updates on looming dangers. A faceless voice signaling the safe path.
I’m romanticizing an aspect of warfare, but I am haunted by the idea of this man and the work he does.
Feds are Suspects in New Malware That Attacks Tor Anonymity | Threat Level | Wired.com
Security researchers tonight are poring over a piece of malicious software that takes advantage of a Firefox security vulnerability to identify some users of the privacy-protecting Tor anonymity network. Guess why they won’t be calling in the FBI.
There is a fair amount of code-speak in here that goes over my head, but it is still digestible for the lay-reader.
Some over-simplifications: The Tor network is a...
