"The Night Season" hits stores March 1!

The next installment of the Heartsick series, "The Night Season," is almost out.  You can pre-order it basically anywhere.  Pre-ordering is SO fun and make me very, very happy.  Publisher's Weekly listed "The Night Season" in its Top 10 Mysteries/Thrillers for spring.  I don't have buy buttons for the new book yet (or early reviews, or really, anything) on this website, but I'm working on it, so check back.  Thanks, Everyone.

Your Chance to Be a Movie Mogul!

My good pal Andy Mingo is putting the finishing touches on his hilarious short film, "Georgie's Big Break," which features an appearance by yours truly!  Also, my dashing husband Marc worked as assistant director on the project.  As you know, though, movie's aren't cheap, and Andy has started a Kickstarter campaign to raise the money needed to finish it up.  Go on over to the Kickstarter page, check out the trailer, and chip in if you're so inclined.  Every dollar helps.  Literally.

Good Food (and a Story) for a Good Cause

On August 20th I'll be participating in a great event called Dinner at My House for Our House.  It's a benefit for Our House, a Portland nonprofit which provides healthcare, housing, and other vital services to low-income people living with HIV/AIDS.  For $75, you get a tantalizing dinner in a fascinating setting, and I'll be on hand with a special story written just for the occasion.  For details, click here.

NPR's 100 Best Killer Thrillers

Have you ever wondered what it would feel like to be the author of one of the 182 best thrillers EVER?  I have, and now I know, thanks to NPR.  Their panel of experts has assembled just such a list, and tomorrow (August 4th) they'll reveal the top 100 as determined by a public vote which closed last week.

It's an interesting list, and one that kind of tests the definition of 'thriller.'  "Last of the Mohicans," "Contact," and "Shogun" are books I don't immediately think of as thriller, but...

Trade paperback covers

Hey everybody!  I just got a look at the covers for the new trade paperback editions of Heartsick and Sweetheart, and I have to say they're great.  Classy stuff, really--you'd never know from looking at them the sort of twisted stuff waiting inside!  They're due out July 20, with Evil at Heart following on August 31.  So get your orders in now, here and here and here.  No collection is complete without them, and they make fabulous Labor Day gifts!

Current Amazon recommendations based on my browser history: A Review.

Gone: An Alex Delaware Novel.   (I own this, so okay.)

The Sociopath Next Door (Non-fiction – I might actually check it out.  I DO have some weird neighbors.)

The Mysterious Benedict Society – Kindle Edition.  (This is a kids' book!  Do eight-year-olds even own Kindles? I do have a Kindle, but I have never downloaded any children's fiction on it.)

Evil at Heart by Chelsea Cain. (Okay.  You caught me.  I've been checking my ranking, and Amazon clearly thinks I must be VERY interested in this...
