Historical Fiction

Earlier this week I joined American Historical Fiction group. Since my latest novel is early American history, it is a perfect fit.

I have already posted on its Billboard and plan to get more involved. I mentioned in the post the need for reviewers.

Speaking of reviewers this is my primary focus during the prepublication period. Knowing the value of good reviews, I am seeking to find people who are willing to read and review the book.

My overall campaign includes Goodreads, press releases, and social media. One feature I am using is called Did You Know? and involves information I discovered while doing research. Originally I thought to do this just for the marketing of my book. But I so enjoy it, and I think people can benefit from it, that I plan to continue it beyond the needs of marketing.

That's it for now. Dead Eye Will by R Frederick Riddle

A Platform to Work From

I recently decided that Goodreads, which I joined two years ago, is worthy of my active support. As an author, I find that its potential is tremendous.

For that reason, I started this blog on October 14, 2013. This is actually my second post. I do have another blog at blog.rfrederickriddle.com, which is basically news related. This blog will be different. The initial meaning of a blog was maintaining a diary online.

I will be discussing my experiences as a member of Goodreads, but I will also write about myself as a writer and, now,as a publisher of my own book (eBook). You might ask why I would want to handle the publishing end of business. It's really not that hard to understand. It comes down to who has control? You or the publisher?

If you are the publisher you have virtual control of every aspect of publishing and marketing. That means you have control of prices, book revisions, movie deals, etc.

By publishing through Smashwords.com I am the author, publisher, and marketeer. For example, I chose the publishing date (11/22/2013), and I have control over who, what, and where to market the book.

What does this mean for the future? Short term is the publishing of Dead Eye Will, but long term could very well mean buying up my rights from other publishers and bringing all my books under my control.

To say I am excited about the prospects for Dead Eye Will is an understatement! Part of that excitement is Goodreads. I had initially thought Goodreads was just another forum. But now I know that it is a platform that can be used to launch my books. In the days, weeks, and months ahead I will be reporting on my Goodreads experience.

I have just begun!Dead Eye Will

Looking for Reviewers

I am looking for at least 25 qualified people to review my newest novel, Dead Eye Will. To entice you, I will provide a PDF autographed version of the book for free.

If you want to review the book, simply contact me at information@rfrederickriddle.com.

Will I accept more than 25 reviewers? To be honest I can't think of a reason for not doing so. But logic does suggest that their be a cap. Just don't know what that is yet.
