Success! (sort of)

Someone brought it to my attention yesterday that The Phoenix Rising made a list of Indie Bestsellers for the Month of May. Here.

The Phoenix Rising was one of the bestsellers for Smashwords.com. Hooray! (Right?)

What’s funny about this to me, however, is that as far as I can tell it only sold two or three copies on Smashwords during this time. So I guess the bar for bestseller is somewhat low these days. But hooray for success! ...

Deleted Scene from The Phoenix Conspiracy

This is a scene from Shen’s perspective that I ended up cutting in the final edit. From the section of the book that I call “the mutiny” which was originally quite different. Much, much longer (comprising around 40% of the book) and utilizing a different set of tactics and sequence of events. I like this scene because it shows more of Shen’s personality but in the final draft it simply did not fit.
