Carl Phillips - Tugging the Arrow Out

Theres a nudging that a living horse
will sometimes extend towards a dead one,
a nudging not so much against death what is
knowable to a horse, but not understandable
but against that space right before loneliness
settles in for real that horses
do, it seems, understand.
And so that was the first day.
The night was what night always is:
a black starfish, black according to some
for holiness, to others for the limbs themselves,
unfurling as if from long sleep...

Current Mood

(HQ digital stereo remaster) A nice clean copy of this video, the only single from Laurie Anderson's 1986 album "Home Of The Brave". The short version of this song used in this video has never been released on CD.

Paradise
Is exactly like
Where you are right now
Only much much
Better

I saw this guy on the train
And he seemed to gave gotten stuck
In one of those abstract trances
And he was going: "Ugh...Ugh...Ugh..."

And Fred said:
"I think he's in some kind of pain
I think it's a pain cry."
And I...

The Long Goodbye

The Long Goodbyefollows the standard tropes of a breakup album: voicemails from loved ones checking in, lyrics questioning what went wrong, karma coming for the toxic ex. Only the breakup here is between actor/rapperRiz Ahmedand his country: Britain becomes “Britney”, who laid with him and took his independence.

Director: Aneil Karia
Created by: Aneil Karia & Riz Ahmed

Producer: Tom Gardner
Executive Producers: Scott O'Donnell, Tim Nash, Sally Campbell, Seth Wilson, Saskia Whinney & Caroline...

Selvportrett i spanskesyken

NG.M.01867.jpg

Munch became ill at the turn of the year 1918–19. He was probably suffering from the Spanish flu, a deadly influenza that would claim the lives of many millions of people during a global epidemic from 1917 to 1920. In a series of studies, sketches, and paintings, Munch detailed the various stages of the disease and how death came ever closer.

It is a sick, incapacitated artist who meets our gaze inSelf-Portrait with the Spanish Flu. His hair is thin, his complexion is jaundiced, and he is...

Philip Larkin - Coming

On longer evenings,
Light, chill and yellow,
Bathes the serene
Foreheads of houses.
A thrush sings,
Laurel-surrounded
In the deep bare garden,
Its fresh-peeled voice
Astonishing the brickwork.
It will be spring soon,
It will be spring soon—
And I, whose childhood
Is a forgotten boredom,
Feel like a child
Who comes on a scene
Of adult reconciling,
And can understand nothing
But the unusual laughter,
And starts to be happy.

Eiji Ohashi: Coming close to dusk, city and country both alike, the roadside vending machines light up. This particular scene of vending machines placed on ordinary roadsides is unique to Japan.

Looking at the vending machines been placed in the wilderness or downtown, one can see loneliness being illustrated.

The machines work non-stop despite day or night, but would be taken away once the sale drops. The machines would not exist if each and everyone does not have its own color and...
