Josef Leitz não tem esse nome por acaso. Raramente as minhas personagens têm nomes por acaso. Josef tem o mesmo apelido do fundador da Ernst Leitz Optische Werke, empresa onde nasceram pela mão de Oscar Barnack as máquinas fotográficas mais famosas do mundo. Aliás, Leica quer dizer precisamente isso, Leitz Camera. As Leicas foram as primeiras máquinas práticas de 35mm, com negativos no formato 24x36mm, ainda hoje um standard na fotografia. Marina Abramovic, que vou ver a Madrid este fim de semana, fez em 2010 uma das suas performances mais impressionantes e badaladas. E para a artista em causa, isso já é dizer muito. Chamava-se "The Artist is Present" falei disso na altura aqui.
Nunca consegui encontrar o livro de fotografias que Marco Anelli terá editado a partir da série "In Your Eyes", precisamente feita nessa performance, mas agora a HBO prepara-se para estrear um documentário sobre a artista sérvia que se chama, precisament...

As fotografias de Josef Leitz
O fotógrafo que inventei, por ser inventado, não tirou fotografias reais. Ou tirou? Se calhar é ao contrário, há fotografias reais que se transformaram em fotografias na ficção de Josef Leitz.
E o que é afinal uma fotografia real, nestes dias em que uma empresa paga mil milhões de dólares por outra, em que essa outra o que faz é dar-nos ferramentas para partilhar fotografias digitais como se fossem fotografias analógicas, com efeitos vintage. Somos todos fotógrafos? Quantos de nós bons?
