Black Square (2006–) is an ongoing project in which Simon collects objects, documents, and individuals within a black field that has precisely the same measurements as Kazimir Malevich’s 1915 suprematist work of the same name.

Taryn Simon was born in 1975 in New York, where she currently lives and works. Collections include Centre Pompidou, Paris; Tate Modern, London; Museum für Moderne Kunst, Frankfurt am Main, Germany; Los Angeles County Museum of Art; Metropolitan Museum of Art, Ne...

We Take Care of Our Own

From Chicago to New Orleans, from the muscle to the bone
From the shotgun shack to the Superdome
There ain't no help, the cavalry stayed home
There ain't no one hearing the bugle blowin'
We take care of our own
We take care of our own
Wherever this flag's flown
We take care of our own

Seán Hewitt - Ghost

i.

Waking, close to morning but still
a shuttered, metal dark in the room:
a sound inside my dream, only a whimper
at first, then becoming human, a howl
raised in the street outside, left unanswered
then raised again. In my boxers, shivering
by the single-paned window, but seeing no one
among the black shapes of the parked cars
or hedges, I went out half-dressed: hands shaking,
front door unlocked then pushed open,
and by the column of the porch, under a cone
of orange light, a young man slumped,
drunk, sob...

Time Will Tell

Blood Orange - "Time Will Tell" from 'Cupid Deluxe', released 2013 on Domino Record Co.

The song itself was recorded live in a one take that lasted about 15 minutes I ad-libbed the vocals recalling lyrics from songs of mine and a song by Adam Bainbridge (which he was unaware i was going to do). Adam was on the drum machine, Blue May on guitar, Sam Beste on piano, & Tawiah on backing vocals. I then took some of my vocals from towards the end and overlaid it as a backing vocal."

Choreography made...

My Lord Chamberlain, His Galliard

Marcos Flavio and Eugen Drabynka play. "My Lord Chamberlain, His Galliard (an invention for two to play upon one lute)" is a piece by John Dowland for the lute. It was printed in his First Booke of Songes or Ayres (London, 1597). The Lord Chamberlain of the title was George Carey, 2nd Baron Hunsdon; to whom The First Booke of Songs or Ayres was dedicated.

This galliard is the only lute duet, aside from those by Thomas Robinson, published in England. According to Spring, the work "allows the pos...

Hoje é aquele dia.

Ten decisions shape your life,
you'll be aware of 5 about,
7 ways to go through school,
either you're noticed or left out,
7 ways to get ahead,
7 reasons to drop out,
when i said ' I can see me in your eyes',
you said 'I can see you in my bed',
that's not just friendship that's romance too,
you like music we can dance to,

Sit me down,
Shut me up,
i'll calm down,
and i'll get along with you,

There is a time when we all fail,
some people take it pretty well,
some take it all out on themselves,
some they just ta...
