Ocean Vuong - Eurydice

It’s more like the sound
a doe makes
when the arrowhead
replaces the day
with an answer to the rib’s
hollowed hum. We saw it coming
but kept walking through the hole
in the garden. Because the leaves
were bright green & the fire
only a pink brushstroke
in the distance. It’s not
about the light—but how dark
it makes you depending
on where you stand.
Depending on where you stand
his name can appear like moonlight
shredded in a dead dog’s fur.
His name changed when touched
by gravity. Gravit...

Ocean Vuong - Telemachus

Like any good son, I pull my father out
of the water, drag him by his hair

through sand, his knuckles carving a trail
the waves rush in to erase. Because the city

beyond the shore is no longer
where he left it. Because the bombed

cathedral is now a cathedral
of trees. I kneel beside him to see how far

I might sink. Do you know who I am,
ba? But the answer never comes. The answer

is the bullet hole in his back, brimming
with seawater. He is so still I think

he could be anyone’s father, found
the way...

Guy Van Bossche’s art is to be situated in a select group of Belgian painters such as Luc Tuymans, Bert De Beul, known as ‘The Grey School’. During the early 90’s of the 20th century these painters turned back to figurative painting and introduced a modest and sober art by using small size canvasses and minimal colors, whereas the international art scene was dominated by large size, colorful abstract painting. There’s a comparable movement in the film scene with filmmakers Lars Von Trier...

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard - People-Vultures

Our blue planet is parched and cracks are forming underfoot and the sweat drips from our collective temple onto the citrine sand and a feathered doom encircles us from above and there's a pulsing in our breast telling us there ain't nothing any mere mortal can do when the sun retreats and blackness sets in. Call upon God to deliver us from our peril.

William Newenham Montague Orpen - Herbert Barnard John Everett, 1877-1949

tophat.jpg

A full-length seated portrait, to left, of the marine and landscape painter John Everett, cross-legged and wearing a black overcoat and trousers, a silk hat and grey gloves. His face is bearded and a silver-topped cane rests against his legs. Orpen produced a preliminary sketch of Everett for this portrait, now in Bradford City Art Gallery. This shows him as clean-shaven and seated with the gloves, cane and top-hat that feature in this finished canvas. Everett sat for his portrait against a...

I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor

Stop making the eyes at me
I'll stop making the eyes at you
And what it is that surprises me
Is that I don't really want you to
And your shoulders are frozen (cold as the night)
Oh but you're an explosion (you're dynamite)
Your name isn't Rio, but I don't care for sand
Lighting the fuse might result in a bang, with a bang-go!

I bet that you look good on the dance floor
I don't know if your looking for romance or
I don't know what you're looking for
I said I bet that you look good on the dance floor
Da...
