Italian Views is a continuation of Gail Albert Halaban’s series Out My Window, featuring intimate domestic portraits against the cinematic backdrop of the city. Here, Albert Halaban shifts her focus from Paris to Italy—steadying her gaze through the windows of others in communities throughout Florence, Milan, Venice, Palermo, Naples, and Rome.

From Amy Bennett's site:

Working with common themes such as time, isolation, and transition, I am interested in the fragility of relationships and people’s awkwardness in trying to coexist and relate to one another. To that end I create miniature 3D models to serve as evolving still lifes from which I paint detailed narrative paintings. Using cardboard, foam, wood, paint, glue, and model railroad miniatures, I construct various fictional, scale models. Recent models have includ...

Metamorphosis

Philip Glass - Metamorphosis (1988)

I made this record using an old amazing (one of my favorite instrument actually) Steinway & Sons model O grand piano. (Steinway officially stopped production of the Model O in 1924, but I guess this one was built around 1925-1926 according to serial number)

"Metamorphosis One" – 00:00

"Metamorphosis Two" – 06:54

"Metamorphosis Three" – 13:59

Sharon Olds - After Making Love in Winter

At first I cannot have even a sheet on me,

anything at all is painful, a plate of

iron laid down on my nerves, I lie there in the

air as if flying rapidly without moving, and

slowly I cool off—hot,

warm, cool, cold, icy, till the

skin all over my body is ice

except at those points our bodies touch like

blooms of fire. Around the door

loose in its frame, and around the transom, the

light from the hall burns in straight lines and

casts up narrow beams on the ceiling, a

figure throwing up its ar...

Teresa Eng spent time as an artist in resident in China in 2012 and 2015, observing the rapid development the cities and its surroundings.

In “Self/Portrait”, portraits of Chinese millenials that she approached in a shopping centre alongside one of their selfie from their mobile phone. The portraits, introspective by nature, are lit by the bright LED advertisements. In contrast, each subject’s selfie reveals details of their lives and interests as well as how they want to be seen. “Sel...
