Work-In-Progress Wednesday! Just a little teaser.

Hope you enjoy this quote from my WIP.  I'm almost to the end of the first draft.  Exciting!

Since he now understood the impossibility of finding himself in that part of her heart where she guarded a great love for other persons and places, he decided that he must remain an anonymous benefactor.  Better for her to think another that savior on whom she and her family could look with gratitude.  He shuddered at the idea that she would feel herself beholden to him, that her affection should stem from gratitude rather than a regard  wholly unconnected to obligation.  If she were ever to look on him with favor, he never wanted that favor to be the result of something as paltry as gratitude.  What man whose whole body and soul burned with love wanted the object of that love to look on him with mere gratitude?  He stopped and looked out the last in the row of windows and answered the question aloud.  "I had rather be the object of her hate!" He about-faced and moved toward the stairs, not the least deterred in his purpose and now even more impatient to see the whole business through to its end.

Re-post of my Review of Illuminations of the Heart by Joyce Di Pastena.

[image error] I just have to re-post my review of this excellent book in case you missed it.  I recently finished reading Illuminations of the Heart by Joyce Di Pastena, and I would have to say it is one of the most enjoyable books I have ever read; I did not want to put it down. The characters are strong, the romantic tension is powerful and unrelenting, and the description is masterful. I fell "head over ears" in love with the hero. His  intensity and the elements of mystery woven around his character engaged me from the first chapter. He is deep, passionate, gentle, loving, and strong, and I was in love with him from his first appearance in the book. I lived this story with Siri, the heroine, who wins the hero's love over the course of this dramatic odessy. She kept me at her side through all of her challenges. The story overflows with conflict and surprise twists, and the characters' individual "do or die" motivations are wonderfully intertwined. This book will amaze you!

Still looking for more votes!

[image error] [image error] Remember the gorgeous Rupert Penry-Jones who starred as Captain Wentworth in the 2007 tv adaptation of Jane Austen's Persuasion?  They made a great choice of a leading man in that one.  He was a real dream!  The last Pride and Prejudice remake was back in 2005 with the handsome Matthew Macfayden, and I was thinking we ought to send on our advice as to who a great new Mr. Darcy might be.  I would love to hear your suggestions.  Please drop me a comment or send me an email with your ideas.  I was combing the internet for possibilities since my familiarity with British actors is sadly limited, and I thought Henry Cavill a great choice.  I think he has "the look."  Do you agree?  If not, who else might be a good choice.  I would love to hear your thoughts.

Which new British actor(s) would you like to see playing Jane Austen's leading men?

[image error] I was thinking how fun it would be for all of us Jane Austen fans to vote for the actors we would like to see playing her leading men in future film remakes of Pride and Prejudice, Persuasion, Mansfield Park, and Emma.  Maybe Henry Cavill?  Elijah Wood?  Ben Barns?  Colin Firth (1995) and Matthew Macfayden (2005) did a wonderful job with Pride and Prejudice. Who was not in love with them?  Rupert Penry-Jones melted a million hearts with his portrayal of Captain Wentworth in the 2007 version of Persuasion. Johnny Lee Miller (1999) and Blake Ritson (2007) made us all fall in love with Edmund Bertram, and Ewan Macgregor (1996) and Johnny Lee Miller (2009) made us want desperately to be Emma for a day.  A whole new set of British actors have arrived on the scene in recent years.  Any whom you would like to see cast in one of the (probable) future film remakes of her novels?  Please email me at lucewandarings@gmail.com or contact me on Facebook or Twitter with your vote.  Watch my blog for the results!  Maybe our vote will count!
