I think 2010 wasn't really a full year - it felt more like maybe 3 or 4 months, at most!  The entire year pretty much consisted of me moving across the country, visiting Chicago again twice, then Arizona... and AZ again... and again!  After September onward, the hubby and I were basically shooting back and forth from Ca to AZ, to help care for his mom. Then it became his full-time gig, so we don't see each other much. :(  But what can ya do?
In any case, we got a long vacation together from New year's through January to the Philippines. I did a week in Japan as well! Can't be that close and not go! But it was damn cold!!
And now I'm back in Cali, and the hubby's back in AZ, and that pretty much catches me up! I feel like it should take way more explanation to cover an entire year! So I stick by my assessment that 2010 was secretly way shorter than a real year! haha.

So here's hoping I'll be better this year at posting! heh

Ebook Editor Wanted

Anyone out there familiar with getting ebooks formatted?  I need .doc files whipped into shape with copyright pages, table of contents, page numbers, etc. as well as the text itself proofread before publishing.

Message me if you're interested!! ;)

Censoring BL in Japan?

Have you all seen this?
http://kotaku.com/5509512/osaka-considering-regulating-boys-love-manga

It's not like I'm a huge shota fan, but this would mean no high school themed BL even!  If movies are although to depict actors as being under age and acting smutty, why can't manga?  No real people are involved and no one's getting hurt.

And all that aside, I just hate censorship.  Boo, I say!

Settling In

Yay for finally being in my new apt.!  I'm slowly but surely getting all the stuff I need.  It was totally empty when I arrived of course, so my first few days involved running around to get stuff like toilet paper and my cat's food and litter! A visit to IKEA helped give me something to sleep on other than the floor so that was very good! haha.  I can't wait until my first shipment of stuff arrives this weekend, though! The hubby and I used Amtrak to move and it was *so* much cheaper than any other alternative.  It only takes a few days to get from Chicago to San Fran too!  So as long as everything looks ok when it arrives, i would highly recommend them if you have to ship cross-country and have a limited budget!
But until I get more of my things, I'm keeping myself busy with exploring the neighborhood and trying to get into healthy work habits with the website.  Now that it's my full-time gig I really wan to utilize my time and catch up with so much I've had on the back burner.  Can't wait!

I'm excited to get involved in the local scene too. I've checked out some knitting clubs, a philosophy group, and will probably look into the JET Alumni org. as well.  We'll see how it all goes! ;)

March Moving Madness!!

i definitely haven't been posting here as much as I'd like, mostly because I've been totally overwhelmed by the process of moving myself and the hubby to California, while simultaneously moving my in-laws down to Arizona.  My in-laws are borderline horders and we've already filled two dumpsters worth of stuff in our attempts to clear out their basement.  And then we've had to go through everything we ourselves left behind when we went to Japan, as well as re-boxing a lot of things we sent back to the States when we came back from Japan.  I know, terribly unexciting stuff, but it has been crazy stressful!!
So now there's only two days left before I hop a plane to Cali with my cat (who's 18 and I'm hoping will somehow deal ok with the trip) and I've still got so much to do.  And my husband won't even be with me for several weeks because he still has to stay to help more with his parents.

I hate being negative but it helps to be able to vent sometimes. So I hope no one minds me doing so! I'm just bummed out. :(

Yaaaaaaay!

Well, it took 3 weeks and dozens of email inquiries and 10+ apt viewings, but I finally found a place to live in CA!! YAY!!  I'm so relieved and happy!  Not to mention I will now be within an hour of New People, the new shop in San Francisco that has branches of Baby the Stars Shine Bright and Black Peace Now inside!!  Woot!  Not that I'll be able to afford to buy much there for a while after the move, but it still kicks ass!  And I might try to get to Fanime now that I'll be closer to San Jose too.  I've only ever been to Anime Central, so I wonder how Famine will compare?

Woot! Free tix!

I guess it pays to have a flexible schedule when flying because the hubby and I got free round-trip tickets on Monday for changing our flight to a later one!  It was only about a 3 hr delay.  I think the original flight was overbooked, so the airline was offering free tickets if someone would change their flight to evening from afternoon.  Woohoo!
So that was pretty cool. Now, we just have to find a damn apt here!  We already looked at one, which was *really* nice and clean and affordable... but it has almost no natural light at all because the windows look into a garage.  Honestly, I like the place so much that I could probably deal with that, but my cat would have absolutely nothing to look at everyday, and he pretty much lives by the window right now.  And he's older... I feel like I he'd get depressed without anything at all to look at.  *sigh*  What to do?

Off to the Sunny Side!

Thank heavens I'm getting out of the horrible, horrible cold and heading to sunny California! I'm going to be apt hunting and hopefully moving there permanently! I'm really itching to find something right away because it's been hard for me to get anything much done while I'm at my in-laws. No space for art, and a lot of my supplies are still in boxes - as are most of my clothes, my crochet supplies, you name it. :( But the blog is coming along nicely so far, so between that and my Yaoifix site, I7m keeping busy!

It's just one of those days

Why is it sometimes you just wake up in a funk? No rhyme or reason. Then again, the limited amount of sun, exercise, and personal space just might have something to do with it...
