Moving from Indie to Hybrid Publishing
With all the stories of authors trading in legacy contracts to publish independently, you might wonder why I’m heading in the opposite direction.
My story is sadly typical. I won awards that led to representation, which then led to interest by New York publishers. Second Chance Grill and Treasure Me received oodles of compliments from editors but nary an offer. Was I writing women’s fiction or romance? Sample Revision
I’m always curious to learn how other authors tackle the revision process. My approach resembles an embroidery project: I tear out stitches then add more. Rough drafts are created on the monster iMac in Word. Then I print out, and revise by hand.

Meet Lucy
As many of you know, I lost my beloved Nala in early December. My sweet pooch was my loyal writing companion for many years. During those first weeks after she trotted across the Rainbow Bridge, finding another dog was unimaginable.

Geraniums in Bloom
Growing up as I did in northeast Ohio, the mild winter months in Charleston continue to astonish. Temperatures can dip into the thirties for several hours or overnight only to rebound quickly by morning. Even now, the flowerbox outside my office window shouts in a riot of pink blossoms. The geraniums planted there will continue to throw vivid splashes of pink throughout the year.
