Inktober Day 25: Tasty
I love the idea of space food. I love trying to replicate those colors in the kitchen, as well as on the page, so when I saw the Tasty prompt, I was super excited to make something spacey to eat.
I give you Space Cakes with Galaxy Berry Syrup and a nice glass of Nebulime juice to wash it down.
I used a Tombow Mono 01 drawing pen, Tombow dualbrush pens. a silver Uniball signo gel pen, and Sakura Gelly Roll pens
Flashy Friday: Her Name Was Death
It was the one time each year she could move freely among the children, giving in to her own child-like nature without fear or consequence. No one looked on her in dread because on that night there were far scarier things than Death: monsters and fiends and devils and ghouls. And they were hungry, so hungry they would trick anyone who dared refuse to treat them.

Inktober Day 24: Dizzy
I have had a stupid busy week, as you can see from the sporadic nature of my postings. This is the second time this week I’ve been late adding my Inktober post, though it was done yesterday, I swear! I managed to get it finished yesterday morning before we left for appointments, and then by the time I got home and settled again, I was too tired to add it to the site. So, I’m back-dating again because Day 25 is hot on the heels of this post.
The prompt was dizzy.

Inktober Day 23: Ancient
“It was just a colour out of space—a frightful messenger from unformed realms of infinity beyond all Nature as we know it; from realms whose mere existence stuns the brain and numbs us with the black extra-cosmic gulfs it throws open before our frenzied eyes.”-H.P. Lovecraft

Inktober Day 22: Ghost
I could have done so many things with this. Sheets floating around, possibly in space, but when I first settled on doing Inktober back in September, and I saw the Ghost prompt, my mind immediately went to Ghost… as in the band from Sweden that my progeny has been gloriously obsessed with for years now, and while I wouldn’t call myself obsessed, I do like the music a lot.
So, here we have Cardinal Copia… from the band Ghost.
I used a Tombow Mono 03 drawing pen, Tombow dualbrush pens. and a silver Uniball signo gel pen.

Inktober Day 21: Treasure
I had some computer issues yesterday afternoon, and so I forgot to post this to the site. I’m backdating it so it shows up on the day it was meant to show up, as that was when I actually completed it.
I have to say, I have really been enjoying the challenge of Inktober. I feel like it’s put a lot of things into perspective for me, and shown me exactly what I can do if I really take my time and set my heart on something. Three weeks in, and I’ve found myself looking back over all the art I’ve created based on these prompts, and I’m really happy with everything I’ve created.
When I started thinking about the “Treasure” prompt, a million things came into my mind. Pirates, mermaids underwater with their dinglehoppers, but the one that stuck with me most was the notion of a dragon sleeping in the treasure it’d hoarded over the years. That was what I finally settled on when I sat down to begin the long process of working on this piece throughout the day.
This one was primarily done with Sakura Gelly Roll and Uni ball signo gel pens with Tombow Mono 01, 03 and 05 drawing pens for outlining and a touch of color here and there, especially the floor and walls, with Tombow dualbrush pens.

Inktober Day 20: Tread
This one is okay. Not the best thing ever, and certainly not the most original for the “Tread” prompt on Day 20, but it is what is and I’ve already moved on, back into working on holiday gifts for people so I continue to feel like I’m ahead of the game on that front. I do think I’d like to play with treads again at some point, especially fancy space boot treads about to stomp down on some unexplored, uncharted new world.
I used a Tombow Mono 03 drawing pen, Uni ball signo gel pens, and Tombow dualbrush pens today on this baby boot tread about to stomp down.

Inktober Day 19: Sling
I wish I could take full credit for this concept, but all I can truly claim is the end result that came from the original inspiration. When I started thinking about today’s prompt, SLING, I googled a few things to get some ideas, slingshot was one of them. Through browsing, I actually found a piece of clipart featuring a cat in a slingshot and my brain gears started turning.
What if the cat was slingshotting himself to the moon in the dead of night? What if that cat was my tubby little orange tabby all excited about going to space, which his mom talks about all the time, so it must be amazing and he wants to go there so bad he can taste it. She would be super proud, he just knows it.
So, he ate his protein pills, slapped on his helmet, fixed up the slingshot, and prepped for blastoff to the moon, probably while listening to David Bowie!
I am so happy with how this turned out, most especially because it looks so much like my favorite Finn.
I used a Tombow Mono 01 and 03 drawing pens, Tombow dualbrush pens and Sakura Gelly Roll pens to help Finn prep his plans to get to the moon.

Inktober Day 18: Misfit
So many things come to mind when I hear the word Misfit, most of them about the band and having forty eyes in my head or digging up bones, and while I looked at that prompt all week, I seriously considered drawing the band. I woke up this morning, however, with other thoughts in mind. I kept thinking about The Endless, most specifically Delirium, who has always embodied so many of the things we all refuse to embrace, discuss, and even acknowledge. In so many ways, she’s one of the greatest Misfits I know, so I drew her in the darkest depths with some jellyfish.
I used a Tombow Mono 01 and 03 drawing pens, Tombow dualbrush pens and Sakura Gelly Roll pens on this one.
Flashy Friday: Old Gods On Display
They put the old gods on display in the desert after the Great Purge, trapped them in glass cages and set them out like ancient relics or antiques for the masses to gawk upon and poke at like children at a zoo.
Spectators brought their image capturing devices and posed in front of the display tanks like tourists, making faces, pretending to be terrified, acting tough.
But Zenda knew better than that. She remembered the old wives tales about pictures stealing souls and knew it was only a matter of time before the clever old gods found a way to trade one prison for another, far weaker restraint.
She shuddered and put her head down in shameful fear before shuffling away.
