Kasterborous Magazine Orders Update!
Christian Cawley is a writer at Kasterborous Doctor Who News and Reviews - All the latest Doctor Who news and reviews with our weekly podKast, features and interviews, and a long-running forum.
Hey you – yes you, did you order a print copy of Kasterborous Magazine issue 1? Well, here it is:
I have a box of orders ready to send out – but unfortunately I’m still waiting for the packaging for each individual copy to arrive. Back in 2012 when we published Time Leech, we discovered early on that only card C4 envelopes were suitable, so are awaiting the arrival of these before dispatch.
So, dear Kasterborite, this is a message to say thank you for your order; your magazines are safe and as soon as our supplier sends the envelopes, I’ll be heading to my local post office to start shipping this beautiful, glossy-covered first edition of Kasterborous Magazine.
We expect copies to start landing in mailboxes by the end of next week.

What a Magnificent Head!

On the heels of Alasdair Dewar’s hints at a Twelfth Doctor figure in the works at Character Options, we have news that BifBangPow is already hard at work on their own figure, this one 8-inch scale EMCE action figure, to join their 8-inch scale collection that already includes, among others, the Fourth Doctor and Leela, as well as the First and Eleventh Doctors.
While all the details of 12′s look have not yet been announced, the artists at BifBangPow have already created a prototype head sculpt for figure, which, like the others in the line, will have real fabric clothing, accessories, and will have multiple points of articulation. Says BifBangPow’s Bethany Grenald:
I was really excited to hear that Peter Capaldi has been chosen to be the 12th incarnation of Doctor Who! Of course, for us, the announcement immediately threw us into high gear! We are licensed to make Doctor Who action figures, and we want to be sure that fans can get their hands on their 12th Doctor action figures as soon as possible!
Along with the Twelfth Doctor, BifBangPow has plans for figures of all of the Doctors as well as River Song, Weeping Angels and other Who characters. The company is looking at a Fall 2014 release for many of the figures. You can read more about the plans on the BigBangPow website.
The Twelfth Doctor is currently available for pre-order at Entertainment Earth for $21.99. Given that each figure in the line is made in limited quantities, you might want to secure yours now ahead of the anticipated May 2014 release!

Nick Briggs on 50th: Explosive!
Nick Kitchen is a writer at Kasterborous Doctor Who News and Reviews - All the latest Doctor Who news and reviews with our weekly podKast, features and interviews, and a long-running forum.
Are we on the verge of getting to see the oft’ referred to Time War?
Speaking to ZoneOneRadio, the Voice of the Daleks himself, Nicholas Briggs, indicated that we’re in for a very explosive 50th Anniversary special!
“There were some big, big explosions. The biggest explosions I’ve ever seen on Doctor Who when they were shooting the bits with the Daleks. And I suddenly got a feeling of what it might be like to be in a warzone!”
Given the bits and pieces we’ve been shown about the upcoming special, it certainly seems everyone’s favorite villain is in a bit of trouble! The big question raised is what sort of trouble are the Daleks in? Rumors surrounding just who John Hurt’s Doctor is has led to speculation that he may actually be the Doctor that ended the Time War.
If those rumors prove true, could we be seeing a major Time War battle with the Daleks in the 50th? Or are we seeing Dalek devastation at the hands of the Zygons or the “trinity” of Doctors?
Maybe an official trailer could help shed some light…

How The Eleventh Doctor Might Have Looked…
Danny_Weasel is a writer at Kasterborous Doctor Who News and Reviews - All the latest Doctor Who news and reviews with our weekly podKast, features and interviews, and a long-running forum.
With the announcement of a new Doctor, you can always count on one question being asked almost instantly. What will he be wearing? And while its always a thrill to see the finished look for the first time, sometimes you cant help wondering what other choices were declined before a look was settled upon.
Well wonder no more as fellow Whovian and blogger extraordinaire THE LAST ALCHEMIST has a fantastic photoset (he’s keep mum on the source, though!) offering a glimpse of Matt Smith going through a variety of wardrobe options before deciding that bow ties are indeed cool.
The looks seem to range from the Sherlockian to the high street chic (stopping at 1980s L.A. rock band on the way…) and are likely to cause just as many pub disputes as the actual casting of the Time Lord usually does.
So what are your thoughts on these outfits, did Matt make the right choice or would you rather have seen something altogether different?.

The Sixth Doctor on Akhaten!
Christian Cawley is a writer at Kasterborous Doctor Who News and Reviews - All the latest Doctor Who news and reviews with our weekly podKast, features and interviews, and a long-running forum.
Here’s a lunchtime treat for you, dear Kasterborites – the Sixth Doctor, Colin Baker, doing a brilliant reading of the key “sacrificial” scene from Series 7′s The Rings of Akhaten!
If you were lucky enough to attend FanExpo Canada in Toronto on August 24th 2013, you would have seen this. If not, click play!
(Script reading starts at 41 seconds.)
This is the latest of a series of readings by Doctor Who actors of their predecessor or successor’s scripts. Another example is Sylvester McCoy reading from The Pandorica Opens…

Alasdair Dewar Hints at New Doctor Who Figures
Drew Boynton is a writer at Kasterborous Doctor Who News and Reviews - All the latest Doctor Who news and reviews with our weekly podKast, features and interviews, and a long-running forum.
How soon will it be before the Twelfth Doctor appears in stores? No, not Peter Capaldi himself, the important one: his action figure.
To help answer this question, The Daily Record has a new interview with Alasdair Dewar, the product development director of the Character Options toy company. Dewar–a lifelong Doctor Who fan who is living the dream–lets slip a few tiny details.
In addition to new Union Jack (no, not Harkness…) Daleks to commemorate the show’s 50th anniversary, there are at least two terrific figures of the Doctor in the works.
Just in time for this year’s Christmas special will be an Eleven-Twelve figure, which will be very special in itself. Dewar elaborates:
“We already have plans, though, to do a special regeneration figure, partially using Matt Smith’s action figure with Peter’s (Capaldi) head, so we’re lucky that they’re both of a similar body shape and height.”
And, of course, some time in the future will come the official Twelfth Doctor figure. Dewar, who gets an insider’s access to the Doctor Who sets and actors for his work making toys, sounds excited at the prospect:
“There absolutely will be a Peter Capaldi 12th Doctor action figure. We’re trying to get a date when we can scan him but at the moment he’s busy filming the Musketeers film.”
So there you have it. As soon as the boffins at Character Options can get Mr. Capaldi’s face and body scanned into the computers (and find out what delightful fashions he’ll be wearing?), the figure will be on it’s way to becoming a reality on local store shelves.
Now the only real secret left to be answered is, when will the John Hurt one be ready to go? I can’t have any peace or sanity without one of those to complete my collection!

Are You Ready to Marry Your Doctor Who Fan Partner?
Andrew Reynolds is a writer at Kasterborous Doctor Who News and Reviews - All the latest Doctor Who news and reviews with our weekly podKast, features and interviews, and a long-running forum.
While marriage may be the finest way of expressing ones love for their man, woman or Gond; recently the trend for theming that particularly around a mutually shared love (well apart from each other) has seen the rise in the kind of awesome ceremonies that see the Groom in Chuck Taylors, clutching a sonic screwdriver and running down the aisle with his Rose as The Hordes of Blood hurl confetti in their general direction.
It’s a wondrous thing indeed; that’s why to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who, Special Events – the company who organised last year’s Klingon Wedding at the Star Trek Convention at London Excel – are looking for 50 couples to take part in a mass Doctor Who Wedding, Renewal of Vows or Blessing at a luxurious venue in London, during November 2013.
If you or someone you know are Doctor Who fans looking to tie the knot this anniversary year, then email info@specialeventsgroup.co.uk with your names, ages, mobile or land line numbers and a brief paragraph or so on just how much of a Doctor Who fan you both are.
And who knows, you might ended up having your special day mentioned in the media!

Tennant and McGann Confirmed for BFI!
Jonathan Appleton is a writer at Kasterborous Doctor Who News and Reviews - All the latest Doctor Who news and reviews with our weekly podKast, features and interviews, and a long-running forum.
Exciting news for those lucky enough to have tickets for the next BFI Doctor Who events as David Tennant and Paul McGann are both to appear in person at coming screenings.
Radio Times confirms that the Tenth Doctor will be on the panel when The Stolen Earth and Journey’s End are shown on Sunday 29th September, with Doctor number eight in attendance on Saturday 5th October when Doctor Who (The Movie) is shown.
Event mastermind Justin Johnson says:
There’s always something especially exciting when you know that the Doctor himself is coming along and we are so thrilled that David Tennant and Paul McGann will be joining us on the BFI stage to help us celebrate and to talk about their time on the show.
Both events are, unsurprisingly, sold out although standby tickets are an outside possibility. Maybe if BFI do more of these screenings in future they should arrange screenings in cinemas around the country?

Christopher Eccleston Loves The Doctor!
Christian Cawley is a writer at Kasterborous Doctor Who News and Reviews - All the latest Doctor Who news and reviews with our weekly podKast, features and interviews, and a long-running forum.
Yesterday’s Doctor Who @ 50 event at the BFI saw Bad Wolf and The Parting of the Ways screened before an audience of fans who had gathered to celebrate the 13 episodes of the Ninth Doctor’s era.
While Christopher Eccleston wasn’t available to join the panel (which included Phil Collinson, director Joe Ahearne and Dalek and The Long Game actor Bruno Langley) he did send a message, which was read by host Justin Johnson:
I love the BFI. I love the Doctor and hope you enjoy this presentation. Joe Ahearne directed five of the 13 episodes of the first series. He understood the tone the show needed completely – strong, bold, pacy visuals coupled with wit, warmth and a twinkle in the performances, missus.
If Joe agrees to direct the 100th anniversary special, I will bring my sonic and a stair-lift and – providing the Daleks don’t bring theirs – I, the ninth Doctor, vow to save the universe and all you apes in it.
We think it’s a lovely message, one that underlines that Eccleston does have affection for Doctor Who, despite what certain fans might think. There have been several stories over the years describing his encounters with younger fans that portray an actor who is more than happy to be associated with the show. While we may never learn the truth behind his departure (or this year’s sudden withdrawal from the 50th anniversary episode) there is no need to allow the limited length of his era tarnish this.
Let’s just remember – Christopher Eccleston doesn’t owe us anything. In fact given his importance to the return of Doctor Who in 2005, it could be fairly argued that we owe him a lot. The sooner this bad attitude goes, the better.

We’re PodKasting Live Today – Right Now!
Christian Cawley is a writer at Kasterborous Doctor Who News and Reviews - All the latest Doctor Who news and reviews with our weekly podKast, features and interviews, and a long-running forum.
Following the remarkable success of our first live podKast on Google Hangouts and YouTube on August 4th – scheduled so that we could commentate on the unveiling of Peter Capaldi as the Twelfth Doctor – we’re running a repeat performance later today in what we hope will be the first of a regular monthly “live show”!
While we’ll have a rough outline of topics to discuss, we’ll be taking questions from viewers too so if you want to take part, you can email, tweet (@kasterborousDW) or leave a comment on the video, which will appear in the space above from 3pm (10am EST). You can also enjoy proceedings on Google Hangouts and on YouTube.
Don’t miss it – although if you do, the podKast will still be available to rewatch later. You’ll also be able to listen – as usual – on Stitcher and Audioboo, but these audio versions won’t be available until during the week.
