More Missing Episode Speculation: Is An Announcement Imminent? [UPDATED]

Over the past few months we’ve addressed Doctor Who’s “missing episodes, discovered” so-called “omnirumour” on several occasions – but it just won’t go away, will it?
While we continue to await the revelation of a whole swathe of missing episodes (all the time suspecting that at best it will likely be a much smaller collection that has been found) we’ve kept our ears to the ground for something approaching detail.
If our information is to be believed, the situation concerning the return of the missing episodes is delicate; remarkably delicate.
Remember, this is a topic that has been under the watch of heavy control and censorship on some Internet forums. Fortunately for those interested in the topic, Twitter continues to be awash with largely uncensored speculation on the topic.
As ever, we won’t know whether the current rumours concerning rejigged DVD schedules are true until an official announcement is made. But if the details of this are as we’ve been lead to believe over the months, fans will be fascinated, and the reasons for repeated denials from all quarters will become clear.
That is, of course, assuming any of it is true…
(Note: thanks to everyone who pointed out the slight inaccuracy within the original version of this article. We’re very grateful.)

If our information is to be believed, the situation concerning the return of the missing episodes is delicate; remarkably delicate. However, this hasn’t stopped Bleeding Cool from continuing the speculation.
Remember, this is a topic that has been under the watch of heavy control and censorship on some Internet forums. Bleeding Cool’s recent account may upset the apple cart, but on the other hand it may only have been published because it is now considered safe to do so. The current suggestion is that something has been agreed and a trailer for an until-now incomplete serial (possibly The Enemy of the World) is set to appear on the forthcoming Terror of the Zygons DVD release.
As ever, we won’t know until an official announcement is made. But if the details of this are as we’ve been lead to believe over the months, fans will be fascinated, and the reasons for repeated denials from all quarters will become clear.

Billie Piper to do the “Foxtrot”
Nick Kitchen is a writer at Kasterborous Doctor Who News and Reviews - All the latest Doctor Who news and reviews with our weekly podKast, features and interviews, and a long-running forum.
According to the Radio Times, talented actress and Doctor Who alum, Billie Piper, will be joining the cast of Sky’s upcoming drama, Foxtrot.
The drama is a “one-off” play that will be featured as part of Sky Arts’ Playhouse Presents programming. The play is by Polly Stenham and is about a “gang heist gone wrong” (although, to be honest, how often do gang heists go right?). It also stars James Bond actor, Ben Whishaw, who at one point was a bookies’ favorite to take over the TARDIS from Matt Smith. Filming has yet to begin on the project and the air date of the drama is to be determined. This will make the third time Doctor Who has taken part in the series, as both Tennant and Smith have been involved in previous productions.
With the 50th just around the corner, and a role in the upcoming Showtime drama, Penny Dreadful, it would seem that Piper is poised to regain mainstream attention that she enjoyed as the Tenth Doctor’s companion, Rose Tyler.
Will you be tuning in for Foxtrot?

Frazer Hines Pleased with Capaldi Casting
Alex Skerratt is a writer at Kasterborous Doctor Who News and Reviews - All the latest Doctor Who news and reviews with our weekly podKast, features and interviews, and a long-running forum.
Twelfth Doctor Peter Capaldi has won the approval of a fellow Scot – Jamie McCrimmon! Or, at least, the actor who played him. Speaking to the Lethbridge Herald, Frazer Hines had nothing but good words to say about the Time Lord’s next incarnation:
I think Peter Capaldi will be marvellous. He’s got this wonderful Doctor face that people could believe as he walks into a room. But he’s also got a twinkle in his eye, a twinkle that he could be a little bit of fun as well.
Having played one of the Doctor’s longest-serving companions, (spanning almost the entirety of Patrick Troughton’s reign in over 100 episodes of the show), Hines may be well-placed to judge the suitability of upcoming Time Lords. After all, it’s a programme he continues to be associated with today, doing regular convention appearances and DVD commentaries. As he points out:
Once you’re in Doctor Who, you’re in a big family and you’ll never get out of that family.
Whilst it remains to be seen if his predictions for a “marvellous” number twelve come to pass, we’re almost certain he won’t be disappointed. After all, we’ve heard whispers that Capaldi will play the Doctor with his Scottish accent. How could Jamie McCrimmon disapprove?

Fancy partying with the Doctor? Or maybe even taking a cruise with one of his companions? Then you’re in luck!
Sci-Fi Sea Cruise is hosting a Doctor Who themed cruise the 19th to the 26th October, sailing from Miami. They are holding a bon voyage party the night before (18th October) and some of the guests from the cruise will be in attendance, including the Seventh Doctor, Sylvester McCoy!
The Evening with the Doctor and Friends is open to everyone, all ages, even if you aren’t going on the cruise. However, registration is required and there is a fee to attend.
Judging by the pictures posted from their last cruise/party with McCoy, they seem to get up to some interesting shenanigans. If you are lucky enough to be in the Miami area, it looks like a fun time!

Watch to Air The Doctors Revisited in UK!
Jonathan Appleton is a writer at Kasterborous Doctor Who News and Reviews - All the latest Doctor Who news and reviews with our weekly podKast, features and interviews, and a long-running forum.
BBC America series The Doctors Revisited is to receive a UK airing on Watch as part of the 50th anniversary celebrations.
The 11-part serial focuses an episode on each incarnation of The Doctor and has been airing monthly in the USA since January. UK viewers will get a more concentrated burst starting on Saturday October 12th with The First Doctor at 2:00pm. The Second Doctor follows at the same time the next day, and it looks like further episodes will run in the same weekend pattern.
Each half hour episode will be followed by a showing of a story from the respective Doctor’s era. So we can look forward to rare TV screenings of The Aztecs, Tomb of the Cybermen, Spearhead from Space and Pyramids of Mars, although no further stories from later Doctors are listed as yet in the channel’s schedules.
Fans in the UK will be pleased this show is finally getting an airing after it’s been seen in the USA, Australia and New Zealand, but many will surely be frustrated it’s on a subscription channel. There’s certainly a wealth of viewing and listening to look forward to over the anniversary period – perhaps a bumper size box set gathering it all together is in order?

Restoration Team’s Final Doctor Who DVDs?
Danny_Weasel is a writer at Kasterborous Doctor Who News and Reviews - All the latest Doctor Who news and reviews with our weekly podKast, features and interviews, and a long-running forum.
Well, it had to happen eventually I suppose.
A tweet from the restoration team, responsible for the classic DVD releases, have recently confirmed the end of the DVD range.
Ace colourist Jonathan Wood grading extras for Moonbase and Underwater Menace. Our final DW DVDs!
#sadday
The big news in that tweet though is that we are getting two more Troughton classics to finish off the collection in the form of The Moonbase and The Underwater Menace and as these are only partially complete serials, does it mean we are getting more animated episodes and if so in what style can we expect them (Reign of Terror/Tenth Planet or Ice Warriors/The Invasion?)
For those of you with a tendency to read between the lines (and lets face it, thanks to ‘The Moff’ we are all a little guilty of being conspiracy nuts theorists) the tweet does not state when these final releases shall be with us.
It also doesn’t mention whether or not they’ll be working on Blu-ray releases instead.
Could there be more in the pipeline to come between now and the release of those two that have been kept even more hush-hush than the announcement of the end of the range? Does this also mean that we wont be seeing any more special editions?
What are your thoughts, had you hoped for more special editions or more animated reconstructions or do you feel that this is a good place to call it a day?
Leave us a comment below and let us know.

Doctor Who Christmas 2013 Filming Footage [Spoilers]
Christian Cawley is a writer at Kasterborous Doctor Who News and Reviews - All the latest Doctor Who news and reviews with our weekly podKast, features and interviews, and a long-running forum.
While we’re all waiting for the Doctor Who 50th anniversary special to hurry up and get here, Matt Smith, Jenna Coleman and a host of as-yet unnamed guests are busy recording the Eleventh Doctor’s final episode.
Below, you can see a bit of location footage recorded last week. If you don’t want to watch this potentially spoilery material (nothing is given away other than some dialogue and costumes) then move along; don’t click play.
Dialogue heard is as follows:
Doctor Who Christmas 2013 location spoiler
Doctor: ”What do we make of [inaudible] eh? Three o’clock in the afternoon; must be very short days here
Clara: Is it Christmas here too? [This is kind of a guess]
Doctor: No, it’s the height of the Summer
Clara: [Inaudible]
Doctor: [Inaudible] …is slowing and the MESSAGE is coming from THAT tower! Ah! Hello! Hello there…
Intriguing!
