Who’s Your Daddy?

I’m getting three animals more. I’ll get a different lion, wolves, and maybe elephants if they are still there by the time my return is credited. I’ll have a backup plan. Looks like I need that more and more. It’s tough being disabled and having to rely upon others. It’s even more difficult when your help doesn’t understand English very well.

I’m not often feeling dejected but very much I was looking forward to today. Well, I didn’t receive what I expected. I guess I am spending a ton of energy keeping my mouth shut when disappointed. What size are the big boy pants? I’ll see if I can still fit aany. Smile. I am feeling better already. Thanks for being there for my venting.

I listened to my Prayers Simply Said By Simon Book this morning. We finished the proofing and will have a quality check before it’s ready for publication. Woo-hoo. I’m moving full power thrust forward with the amazing voice over artist, William. We will start on the third audiobook in a few days.

Who’s your Daddy? I just have to remember and remind myself sometimes Simplysaidbysimon. ALS – Another Lesson Learned. Thanks, Belinda.

It’s going great

I’ll try to finish reading a couple of books, write, and do more publishing items. I hope you slept well last night. I just finished proofing a second audiobook. Things are flowing. I’m going to visit with my wife. It’s a good life even though I have this ALS hanging around. It’s been the catalyst for several positive changes in my life. I won’t complain.

What helps you to remain positive and hopeful while you’re going through your challenges? Coping mechanisms are priceless. One monumental influence on my upbeat attitude is reading books. So far, I have read over 2,600 books in the past 7 years. There is a lot to explore and learn. Do I ever feel sorry for myself? Nope. I’m too blessed to be stopped by mess. Find something you’re passionate about and keep tremendously interested in it. Julia Child. Simplysaidbysimon, keep on keeping on and ALS – Always Look Strong in your eyes.

I’ll try again

I’m kept humble by my tablet. It’s like whenever I have written something I think is really good, it erases it. Smile. So, I have finished sulking and will post now the gist of what I remember writing.

Yesterday, I finished reading The Magic of Thinking Big by David J. Schwartz. The author presented many good points and principles for success in business and Sales. However, one particular story stood out, and I thought it was applicable to many of us.

There was a woman who had a young son who motivated her to live. Her doctor had given her only months to live, but she determined that she wanted to see her son graduate from college. Contrary to medical science, the human brain and the will to live sometimes defy all odds. The doctor’s prognostications were off for some twenty years as this mother hung in there until after her son’s degree was obtained.

I don’t know what gives one person the will and determination to live despite their terminal disease outlook. I just know I chose to tell my when I gave her the news of my diagnosis that I planned to stick around. I told her that I’d be here when she graduated from high school, and college, got her first job, developed her career, got married, and had her first child.

Do you think subconsciously she’s been picky choosing a mate because of this? Just live your life, Baby. Daddy’s extremely proud of you, and I will be here until I am not.

One thing for sure is our brains have a lot of power. The Ancient Book says, As a man thinks, so is he. Your own mind is a sacred enclosure into which nothing harmful can enter except by your own permission. Arnold Bennett. You already have within you everything you need to turn your dreams into reality. Wallace D Wattles.

Everyone is different, and only you know how much you want to endure. Notice that I use the word want. I don’t think we actually know how much we can bear. I’m planning on finding out. Simplysaidbysimon, we’re stronger than we ever thought possible by ALS – Assaulting Limiting Scenarios.

A bugaboo, or a real bear

Information is as good as we use or don’t use it. Let’s begin with this quote: We must not allow other people’s limited perception to define us. Virginia Satir. Recently, I have read a couple of books that tried to define who and what a man is. This morning, I learned of the different views some have postulated concerning the essence and nature of man in The Heart of Man: Its Genius for Good and Evil by Erich Fromm.

It appears that based upon the information, I’m not “free” to be me. We can become dizzy as we contemplate the positions of leading philosophies and Psychologists of different periods in the last century. Whether they embrace world views of there being a god or no gods, or if you’re the composite of all the influences on your life, I am left more than ever, believing in me.

I choose to be the Captain rather than the captive. ALS is just a diagnosis; disease doesn’t determine who and what we are. What is becoming more evident is I created myself, the person that I have become by my thoughts. In this determination derivative, I can do a makeover just by focusing my thoughts on the desired person I imagine myself being.

If my mind can conceive it, and my heart can believe it, then I can achieve it. Muhammad Ali. As a man thinks in his heart, so is he. Ancient Book. Bugaboo – an imaginary object of fear. Let’s choose to be bear-like and ferociously protect our opportunity to live good lives in the middle of our storms. Simplysaidbysimon, when the storms of life are raging, pick someone strong to stand by you like ALS – A Loving Savior. Thanks, Belinda.

Dead to the world

I’m going along well this terrific Tuesday. Yesterday, I had the cook make more dip for me. Miracle Man came and I asked him to arrange some artificial flowers in my planters – all seven empty ones. My Superman voice-over artist finished another chapter in my Prayers Simply Said By Simon book. My daughter came by, but either I wouldn’t wake up, or she chose to let me sleep. She did take a Candid Camera and Kodak Moment photo as proof she had come. That is the problem with dreaming; she probably said something to wake me up, but it blended in with my dream. Tumultuous Tuesday, turning things in the right direction. Either I will find a way, or I will make one. Philip Sidney.

I’m looking forward to Jennifer’s lemon pound cake being delivered on Wednesday. I try to always have something to look forward to, even though I am living in the moment. Life is good. So why am I taking time with my life’s trivia? It is because I want to give just another example of how life is worth the troubles of battling our diseases and conditions.

My eyes still sparkle when my window to my soul sees my wife or daughter. I’ll fight until the last breath, is my attitude now. We never know what we will do until our time comes to face each of our giants. Today, I believe I will rally with the music from Rocky. Today I am trying to motivate all of us much as Mel Gibson did before battle in Brave Hearts. We fight, we fight, we fight for tomorrow’s opportunities to love and be loved. Simplysaidbysimon, see yourself as an ALS – Amazing Life Story with the will to turn your pages for new chapters.

How sweet it’s been

Magical Monday full of God’s mercies and grace to you today as you tackle each agenda item. I’m feeling comfortable with a new start this morning. I think I can, I think I can. By grace, let’s do this.

I’m on point with my reading. I’ll finish reading E-Book Distribution by Natasha Brown. How Europe Underdeveloped Africa by Walter Rodney. 13. The 48 Laws of Power by Robert Greene. 23. Then, this week I will listen to A Whole New Mind by Daniel H Pink. BS. Ask and it is Given by Esther and Jerry Hicks. BS. A Fever in the Heartland by Timothy Egan. BS. There Will Be Fire by Rory Carroll. BS. What Happened to You by Dr. Perry and Oprah Winfrey. BS. Fast. Feast. Repeat. By Gin Stephens. BS. Help is Here by Max Lucado. BS. The Magic of Thinking Big by David Schwartz. BS. Psycho-Academic Holocaust by Umar Johnson. BS. The Spirit of the Disciplines by Dallas Willard. BS. The Slight Edge by Jeff Olson and John Mann. BS. Personal Development for Smart People by Steve Pavlina. BS. Incredible Answers to Prayer by Roger J Morneau. Ishiro Honda by Several Authors. BS.

I caught up with the fantastic voice over artist on book number two of making my books into audio. He also fixed up my cover artwork for all five books. He’s my gifted Superman. I’ll write today and visit with my daughter. Making it a great day is what we do.

How is your courage today? I read from the Ancient Book this morning: “This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Wherever you get strength from, go there in your mind and receive your necessary power to push through this day. Before we know it, we will have completed another week. Make some memorable experiences one moment and day at a time.

Try to be like the turtle – at ease in your own shell. Bill Copeland. Simplysaidbysimon, enjoy the gift of life you have, and spread your gift of an ALS – Amazing Life Story.

Making great days

Are you bright eyes and moving your tail early this morning? Hopefully, going to sleep earlier has helped you with the vigor necessary to do all that you have planned for today. I’ll work more on publishing. We did finish the first audio book production.

I have a routine each day of getting some growth information:

Quote for the day:
Better remain silent, better not even think, if you are not prepared to act. Annie Besant.

Scripture of the day:
And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand. I and my Father are one. John 10:28-30 KJV.

Word of the day:
Noblesse oblige – connotes that the people who have a high social status or wealth should help those of low status or the poor.

Morning prayer:
Father, I don’t thank you enough for my pain, discomfort, difficulties, and problems. They have been instrumental in drawing me closer to You and making me more sensitive and understanding of what others go through. Help me today to use these experiences to be a blessing to someone going through tough times right now. I don’t want to waste my pain on feeling sorry for myself. I pray that each of my setbacks is just set to glorify You. In awareness of Your keeping power through Jesus, I pray. So let it be.

Make it a great day Simplysaidbysimon and his daughter. Life is short, and mostly good with ALS – Awesome Loving Support.

There Be Dragons

I had the privilege that keeps coming every morning – I woke up. The nice music that gave me pleasure was playing, and all was well in my world. Kinda. You probably know it already, but I will say it as a reminder. There be dragons to slay each day that we have the good fortune to wake up.

I had a baby dragon trying to grow up on me this morning. My call light started going off on its own. Sometimes my foot pillow is so close to my foot control call light that it seems to pick up that I am breathing. Smile. At any rate, I received prompt responses to my foot or something being too close to the call. Each time I was asked if I needed the urinal. I shook my head to indicate that I did not. The baby dragon was trying to get something started. The nurse began saying she didn’t know what I wanted. So I have dragon-killing experience. I can perceive when attitudes are developing; attitude and their attitude can be thwarted by a quick courteous disconnect.

I typed the message I refused. This means that I don’t want food or drink or medicine. The dragon is starved to death before he has a chance to grow stronger. There are all kinds of dragons internal and external. I have determined to make it a great day by any means necessary. Some days, I just smile through it all, and other days, I kill the external dragon by not allowing it to have anything to eat off of me. It will have to get that from another patient. The last third of a shift, I am forewarned and armed to be Simon the dragon slayer.

Throughout this day I will choose to slay dragons with typed kind words, smiles, and general thoughtfulness. If I feel I need to, I draw the bridge up and disconnect from opportunities for misunderstandings, hurt feelings, or ruffled feathers. That reminds me, I have Ruffles Potato Chips. I’ll try some with dip for breakfast.

Happiness is not a matter of intensity but of balance, order, rhythm and harmony. Thomas Merton. Let us always meet each other with smile, for the smile is the beginning of love. Mother Teresa. Simplysaidbysimon, I agree with those words. If at all possible, live peacefully today. Slay your dragon and ALS – Always Leave Smiling.

Late Checkout

Late Checkout

My hunger was stayed. I had some Gouda cheese. The nurse and I just finished the last two pieces of banana nut bread until after my wife will deliver more lemon pound cake. It is almost midnight. I did not eat this afternoon.

How was your day? What are you doing to keep you interested in your day and life? I am interested in what is your latest book you are reading? I finished prooflistening to one audiobook, and we are on the second book. I have a lot of writing to do if I will publish Daddy’s Dream and Mommy’s Joy in July.

Are there any good, new series on Netflix, Amazon Prime, or Pureflix? I can’t wait until Lincoln Lawyer has the next season on Netflix. Smile. Simplysaidbysimon, You Better Call Saul or someone else if you don’t have any interests. Variety is still the spice to life when you are ALS – Appreciating Life’s Struggles.

Self Worth

Let me begin by saying you are priceless. You are one-of-a-kind, scarce, and unique. Not one-in-a-million, or billion; you’re the only one like you ’cause you are special, special… To borrow a favorite song of mine from Barney a couple of decades ago, there’s no one in the whole wide world who can do the things you do. ‘Cause you are special, special. Your current condition does not alter this inalienable truth. It can not be taken from you. So don’t you give it away by depression.

No matter how low we feel, we are priceless. I’m sorry you’re a recipient of a despicable disease. It’s reasonable to feel like your world is falling apart. It has changed tremendously. Do what you can to read, listen to, watch, and surround yourself with who and what is positive. Keep busy living your dreams, Simplysaidbysimon. Make a new life as an ALS- A Living Superstar. Thanks, Jillane.
