Altered Beast

An unusual find today. Ten moths, dried and pressed, each individually wrapped in cellophane. If that were not unusual enough, the moths appear to have been altered. If you take a close look at their bodies, a small piece of colored paper has been trimmed to fit and mounted over the original.

Found in "The Hermit of Moss Pond" by James Pitcher. Published by the author, 1896.
