Mission Status

You may remember this post from a few weeks back; I went to look at a collection of books that had been stored away for fifty years. Well, today is the day I am off to pick them up. I will be gone for most of the morning, so no new bookmarks today - but I will provide updates on some of the interesting finds.

In Favor Of The Day

Note, appears to have come out of a writer's notebook:

Phrases - Descriptive Ideas - impressions etc.

The fragile world of new snow

The dull soft blue of predawn sky, rosy-edged behind the crisp black lace of bare trees. The pale moon still high. A long thin creeping streak of smoke from a jet plane chalking the sky across its face - as if cancelling out the night in favor of the day.

She spoke in a hoarse, halting whisper, breathless with pain.
Found in "The World Within: Fiction Illuminating the Neuroses of our Time" edited by Mary Louise Aswell. Published by Whittlesey House, 1947.
