Venator sequitur fugientia; capta relinquit; Semper et inventis ulteriora petit.

The hunter follows things which flee from him; he leaves them when they are taken; and ever seeks for that which is beyond what he has found.

~ Ovid~ Amorum (16 BC), Book II. 9. 9.

Like Statues

Like statues we stand in silence and grace.

No Matter

Miyamoto Musashi

No matter how hard you study, if you do not become one with the art you pursue you can never truly be one with the universe and the spirit of the thing itself will always elude you. You must have extraordinary passion, patience, and self discipline to make the journey alone.

~ Miyamoto Musashi

20 Years

walltime.jpgTwenty years will come and go. Twenty years enough time to know that there’s beauty in all life. The clocks will stop, the hearts will die but the love will bring you home. The love will always bring you home and always find you.

Untune The Sky

“…So when the last and dreadful hour

This crumbling pageant shall devour,

The trumpet shall be heard on high,

The dead shall live, the living die,

And Music shall untune the sky”

~ John Dryden

On Anger/ On Writing

1angerwriter.jpg

Writing when you are angry may fuel words, move mountains and unleash the monsters that dwell inside of your soul but anger is nothing in comparison to the magic of one single solitary heart that doesn’t just conjure words but worlds.

It’s Been A Beautiful Fight

Lighting new cigarettes,

pouring more drinks.

It has been a beautiful fight.

Still is.

SEMBLANCE

thewire

Among the counting of forevers,

years, photographs

Reminders

It is love that only remembers

Anyways

Beyond the damage

Or the seasons,

The body or disdain

The distance

or the longing

The heart, or the age

It is love that only remembers,

Anyways

But is that, this really love?

The mind that says “yes”

For perhaps it is only a semblance

Of a face that never fades.

But in the end

Like in the beginning

It is love that only remembers

Anyways

And that is all there truly is.

William Ernest Henley : Invictus

Invictus

BY WILLIAM ERNEST HENLEY

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
      For my unconquerable soul.
In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.
It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate,
I am the captain of my soul.
